If this is true, the world is coming to a sad low. At least PS3-fanboys had the decency to let Lair bomb.

putting fanboys and decency in one sentence?

Hype will sell Too Human.

If it's truly a bad game, the sequel will bomb.

I'm clinging to nothing. Jeez I even stated in that post "on to the next review" Not my fault reviews these days are written like a live blog. Is it so much to ask for well detailed reviews?
dude i'm kidding :lol i just wrote the original post then checked the official thread and found your post, sounded funny in my head :P

As someone who really was open-minded to the very end (meaning up until the demo dropped), looks as if this game really will get the reviews it deserves

....a complete mess, sorry SK

The review definitely said some scary-sounding things. But I'm still going to get this game and play it over XBL with my brother.

A few thoughts:

1. The review didn't at all convince me that the loot system is broken. I love the feeling of constantly working toward improving my armor/weapons/etc. So the idea of always feeling like my loot situation isn't quite good enough sounds great to me. I can see this being a problem for certain types of people, but it is exactly what draws me to loot whoring.

2. The review didn't say why or how the story and cinematics are bad. It just declares that they are. I'd like to hear more. (I'm not actively doubting the truth of the reviewer's statement, as I've not played the game. But I'd like to hear more.)

3. The multi-player still sounds quite fun.

4. I'd still have a fucking blast if I played Dark Alliance I/II or CoN today with my brother. Even if Too Human isn't perfect (and it clearly isn't), I remain open-minded that it will offer improved combat and better looting. I still think that I'll have fun with Too Human. And the only reason I play games is to fucking have fun.

lol at people thinking bad reviews are gonna kill SK and Too Human Trioligy....

Obviously the game is gonna sell. I don't know if it's gonna met MS expectations, but enough to assure the sequels...

which should hit around 2024 and 2040, respectively.

I don't know about that. When was the last time a game without a license wasn't killed by bad reviews and internet hate? Unless IGN or some other major site gives it a good review, I don't see much hope for Too Human.

I really don't think a game fate in sales is determined by a bunch of reviews and message boards.

The game seems to have a lot of preorders (If I recall correctly), and has been hyped for...a lot of time, and the game offerings and look is atractive at least and with decent marketing (they just need to avoid any cutscene in the ad's), could sell a bounch of game even it's bad, it's not the first and not the last....

I don't know about the sequels (the quality of the game could really affect the sales of those), but this is pretty assured to surpass the 1 million mark....

Edit: And yeah, the 1UP review is bad, I saw shovelware games getting more text than this game..., seems like the conclusion of a 5 page review, what about the graphics....,heck what about a word of any of the technical aspects (except a phrase for the cutscenes and animations)

wth do you mean no credibility... they are one of the few sites in which I'm pretty sure refuse bribes from publishers.

yea, they ended up on Ubisoft's blacklist for being critical about AC

which is why I trust them... I may not agree with all of their opinions, but at least I know its their legit opinion.

that pretty well covers it

and no, the volubility of too human's creator does not make it more worthy of scrutiny than any other inept game

That was not a good post.

Opinions are subjective rather aren't they? Reviews should do a good job at making them seem objective. However when you state that the classes are the same whilst trying to justify it by explaining how the majority of mobs are meelee centric (shocking in a hack'n'slash) you kinda fail.

Nah they screw up too. Nick likes giving out high scores and Garnett doesn't know baseball.

It really doesn't matter.

Seeing these early reviews and after having played the demo, my conclusions regarding Dyack are:

a) He's full of shit
b) He's the most deluded game developer in the world

Note to other devs:

Please, for the love of all that is good, make sure that your game is actually GOOD before you start bitching up a storm online and challenging people who criticized it.

Something tells me after the first few he just started skipping them.

yeah they just end up working for them. But really, i just think their reviews are crap and they just try so hard to appear unbiased or something but really they are worse than most other sites.

I'll wait for The Legacy of Shane Kim: Soul Reaver.

"The resurrection of Ed Fries at the Temple of Microsoft evil" would be better, but that will never happen. Microsoft Game studios imploded when Fries left. "Too Human" is just more flotsam and jetsam.

What evidence do you have to back this?

This review clearly spells teh doom. Nobody on the GAF has ever enjoyed a game that's scored below 90. When talking about games, we should not speak of gameplay, only of scoreplay. Let's only deal with the important issues.

Why are people acting like this is some sort of victory for them? It's honestly a little disturbing.

Dyack brought it on himself with his stunt threads here and meltdowns on 1up Yours about the attitude of some of the posters on this forum towards his game. I don't think any other developer who posts on here has responded to negative criticism or outright trolling towards their game, at least not in the manner he has.

no big deal, I'll save myself money.

It's too bad this didn't turn out as good as everyone had hoped.

But hey, it could have been WORSE.
Maybe it will at least break even.

well if he is correct it does not look good for Fable2 :lol
exactly :D people were able to see past the original's shortcoming because the improvements are very obvious and in the right direction.

Dennis just does what any game creator does, he fights for his game, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Is the gaming biz so ruthless that we actually WANT for somebody to fail?

If the game is not worth your money then sure, make fun of it, but I'll never understand being happy about a game bombing because you don't "like" the figurehead of the studio, that's just stupid and petty.

Jeez guys, some of you are so...immature? Seeing if someone is online and hoping that he's going to post just so you can laugh at him is pretty mean when you think about it.

I'm no fan of Too Human and don't even own a 360, but Dyack is a person and has feelings too. Give him a break.

I mean, for fuck's sake, it's not even a B or a 7 or 7.5. We're seeing a C and a 6.75.

If it was an 8, it's not great but it's not bad either. At the very least, it's something that Dyack could go on about. He could have started bitching about publications not recognizing the greatness of Too Human or something.

But this is just pathetic.
