There is no real thinking to be done watching Lagoon tho. Really the plot were in now is the only one that takes some "thinking" regarding the Leader that kidnapped Rock and what his mission statement and goal is. If that is the real problem tho, then BL is going to have a rough time in ratings for long last arc
Russians/Revy/Rock's Japan takeover
of season 2 since it requires alot more attention to the story since it has alot more moving parts.

I think AoT will have some trouble down the line also.

well, there's a decent amount of dialogue. i mean, it's not Ghost in the Shell, but i can see that being an issue; the other premieres have talking, too, but you can pretty much zone out and miss nothing.

i think it might be because its plot requires you to pay a little bit more attention than people are comfortable with at like 2:30. but you'd think the action would make up for that.

Yeah exactly but it doesn't I guess and that might have something to do with it. I mean, I guess I can understand, but still.

Probably on too late plus people not watching because it's censored

Censorship might have something to do with it too,...but still.

Yea, I can understand something like Ghost in the Shell, especially with the most likely baked as fuck viewers that watch Toonami, but BL isn't as heavy in that. It could just be that people ain't trying to put up with it.

or maybe not enough flying through CGI trees talking about what you want to do in a fight but not actually doing it

Another part of it might be that there are some people out there who consider anime to only be DBZ/Naruto/Bleach or whatever they watched growing up. So when Black Lagoon comes on, it's not only hurt by it being on so late, but it's a show some people haven't even heard of, so it probably wasn't given a chance to begin with.

It's incredibly sad to me that this is a likely truth.

I had to check it out apparently Sailor Moon anime premiered in 1992... I didn't even know you could order things on the internet back then :O

My younger brother would probably love FMA (either). I have the FMAB blu rays and want to show him some day but his (actual) words are:

"If it's not Dragonball Z then it's dumb."

I actually wondered if that would be the common response back when it was announced for toonami but tried to look at it differently.

Guess its about time to come to reality with it

GXP, 3 episode rule'd, SAO all the way through.

I don't think I've seen a wall of quote that big before...
It would have been worst if the quotes from the previous thread carried over.

I hate the wall of quote no matter what the sub-forum.

Not horrible. I can't help but wonder what it is about Black Lagoon that people do not like. It's definitely unlike most the other shows on the block. Just out of curiosity, but there's no point in whining I think we're all used to its poorer than expected viewer numbers. Looks like people really came back for Shippuden. A few even came back for part 1 Naruto.

What is wrong with Americans? We used to be number 1 in consuming fictional gunporn. Now most action movies don't do that well (I heard people walked out of the Raid 2 because of it being subbed), action cartoons outside of Toonami are dead, not even the more exotic action games get that popular, it's all really just virtual military dudes aiming and shooting M4/16/etc assault rifles and nothing else too fancy. The action genre is the one of the most accessible and shallow around that tickles our primal instincts and yet these days even the most casual are picky about their action. I just don't get it anymore. =/

GXP has been doing a fantastic job of putting me to sleep every night. One simple trick to cure insomnia that drug manufacturers don't want you to know.

Man that sucks. You need to show him the light that is FMA.

My younger brother doesn't really watch anime (don't think he hates it though), but I'm sure he would enjoy it if I showed him some good ones. I figure AoT or Death Note would be good recommendations for him, as in they have interesting premises that can hook non-anime watchers.

Edit: My top recommendation for my bro would probably be FMA, but due to it being a bit lengthy, I wouldn't want him going in with the mindset that it's gonna be a slog.

I actually wondered if that would be the common response back when it was announced for toonami but tried to look at it differently.

I'm sure you've already seen the reactions that came from announcing DBZ Kai, and that's just from people who keep up with Toonami updates. No doubt there are plenty others who just casually watch, and as soon as they see the first big batch of promos announcing that it's actually Kai, I guarantee there will be some bitching. If this kind of audience doesn't give a condensed version of the same show a chance, what makes you think they will want to try watching new content. It sucks ;_;

Let's hope the summer mood helps One Piece in it's favor.

Should help the whole block, outside of 4th of july weekend and a mma fight last year ratings were there highest in the summer, was the first time we got a pentamillion and once Dandy starts premiering again we could get 6 million+ hour shows in one night

Why is the fifth opening of FMA:B so bad? It ruins the perfect 8 for 8 the two FMA series had on great openings.

DBZ is basically the dumbest thing on the planet I don't understand

I like Ready Steady Go

That, and the first Brotherhood one are all you need. I really like the crayon drawing motif of the first Brotherhood ending, but don't care for the song

Now I remember Undo and why I also didn't remember it, its just a kind of there song and its just kind of there visually. While I think its a better song then RSG, RSG has a more visually interesting opening for what its worth.
