Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - One of the weaker episodes that simply shows what happened to Ross, sets up Scar’s connection to the Rockbells and sets the groundwork for the overall origin story for the series. Still, not bad.

I was thinking about this yesterday. Episodes 17-18-19(+) work pretty well strung together, with 18 connecting by explaining Mustang's action in 17 and setting up the next episode(s)
Scar/Winry plotline, Hohenheim/Xerxes foreshadowing, etc
, . It's very much a utility episode in that regard. As a standalone episode it falls a little flat especially if you are already familiar with everything.

Haha you guys rip on Shippuden so much. I think the next arc is better paced and the end of the Sasori vs Sakura/Chiyo fight is pretty good too. But then the arc after the next arc is filler, so that sucks.

The arc after that might be the best in Part 2. However, it starts on May 16th lol.

Yeah, sorry about that. I do feel bad for people like you who really enjoy the series having jerks like me ragging on it every week. I do keep watching hoping it will improve but I just have to be honest, the pacing is so bad I can't get invested in these characters or their actions. Also, the animation has been really lackluster recently.

I see a similar thing happening in OT right now with people ganging up against Kill la Kill, a show a throughly enjoyed. They're saying it's terrible, unwatchable, pandering, etc. It really bumms me out because I think KLK is one of the most fun shows I've seen in a while and I would love to share that fun with ToonamiGAF. But having now seen how much vitriol a lot of people in that Off Topic thread have, I'm not even certain how many of ToonamiGAF would even like the show. :(

I wish I could just not care what other people think but I can't. When people hate stuff I love it really bothers me and I feel like I have to help them understand why they aren't giving a show a fair chance.

Toonami GAF would probably be 50/50 on KLK

Honestly though the people ganging up on KLK would say Shippuden is terrible too, plus a mixture of NeoGAF being NeoGAF and animeGAF being animeGAF. They're negative view on the series doesn't seem to be a general view of it I've seen it more positively received on other anime boards I visit.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
I saw one episode of Kill La Kill and haven't gone back.

I guess it was okay, but I don't know that I really like that kind of comedy.

So that episode of Shippuden was actually pretty alright, I don't mind flashbacks that are used in a different context to reveal something that might have been missed previously or to show something again in a different light IE showing that Gaara lost because he got baited into a fight with a long range specialist the same way Naruto almost did. As a whole I always feel like Naruto is at it's best when Naruto is training or learning so having Kakashi give an impromptu lesson on long range combat is fine with me.

I also like how more happened in the 30 seconds of the Sasori match then have happened in like 5 episodes, having Sakura reveal her dues ex machina poison with a decent explanation of why she had it along with Sasori's "this isn't even my final form" moved the fight along far more then any amount of random punching and kicking did.

Could the pacing be better? Absolutely, but as a whole I never felt like the episode was pointlessly dragging things out which it's been awhile since I felt that in a Shippuden episode.

Ultimately it comes down to what happens between your computer/TV screen and your mind. What you enjoy you enjoy, what you don't you don't. Perhaps talking about things with other people might round your thoughts and opinions or perhaps make you think/consider something you didn't before, but ultimately what you value and enjoy comes down to preference.

For instance, I quite enjoyed last night's One Piece episode. But at the same time, some people were saying it was terrible and that the train section is a low point of this arc. I don't see it; I don't agree. Yes it's crazy goofy and silly, and some people might be instantly turned away by that. Some people might be quite bothered that these newly introduced 'villains' are there to stall/waste time. But it doesn't bother me. I'm enjoying it. And I don't mind if people disagree with that.

Somewhat related, I remember a friend getting upset on Twitter because he was having a hard time getting into Dark Souls. Sounds like people were giving him a hard time because he wasn't enjoying it. That kind of stuff pisses me off - it's juvenile peer pressure. I've said this before, but some people just need to learn that it's okay if somebody disagrees. One would think this doesn't need to be said.

Your favorite movie/book/game? Somebody out there hates it. That one thing you don't like at all? Somebody out there loves it.

---

I remember enjoying the next Shippuden episode even if it's a little weird.I don't remember the second arc much other than that the pacing is basically still very slow.

i watched two episodes i think. i remember liking the style, but i also remember feeling that i was nowhere near used to reading subs enough to properly watch the series. stuff was said so fast that i felt like i had to rush through the words.

I'm not really sure why I'm watching the Xfinity on demand commercials after the on demand toonami shows, maybe I'm hoping it helps the ratings
