Hey let's see what's going on over at ToonamiFaithful:

But there are a few good actors in Parasyte tho.

Every time a new season rolls around I always hope Sentai doesn't get anything I'm looking forward to.

Gives all the fucks
Parasyte is CLOSE to being called a good dub, then every episode seems to have an actor or a few line deliveries that prevents it from achieving that status.

Granted, it's muuuccchhhh better than Akame ga Kill's dub, that's for sure.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
You think the company that does Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Astro Boy, PreCure and on and on and on (seriously just look at their Wikipedia page) doesn't know what they are doing? Say what you will about the quality of their works that are popular in the West but they don't have bad business sense.

Don't forget their live-action Toku productions like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Metal Heroes.

Toei may have bad moments (Sailor Moon Crystal, Dragon Ball Super, the latest One Piece episode) but they know what they're doing. They're still in business for a reason.

Yep. Don't really care much for the next two places after that (
especially Impel Down which drags on for way too long
) but Saoboady is great.

Only in the anime.

Sabaody Archipelago: Chapters 490 to 513 (Vol. 50 - 53)
Amazon Lily: Chapters 514 to 524 (Vol. 53 & 54)
Impel Down: Chapters 525 to 549 (Vol. 54 - 56)
Marineford: Chapters 550 to 580 (Vol. 56 - 59)
Post-war: Chapters 581 to 597 (Vol. 59 - 61)

Toei has enough history of acting like fucking weirdos that it's safe to accuse them of being fucking weirdos whenever something weird happens.

Also they tend to do no-risk impossible to fuck up properties so

Lumping AGK! in with Parasyte is the problem there.

Even then the acting early on in Parasyte was dire besides Migi and Nami. The main character's geeky voice pre spiderman turn was ear wretching and porn tier acting when he tried to get angry.

Later on they've done a much better job. The serial killer was great, the cops are pretty solid, the new bad guy isn't bad (though his other persona was better) and so on. Shinichi is downright good most of the time.

Nah, even in the manga those middle two arcs go on too long. They're still great, because it's One Piece.

Saw this over in the "Generic Anime" thread

I've seen Digibro's work before, like his awesome breakdown on why SAO is the fucking worst. Only on part 1 and I'm amazed at how generic most anime is. Especially light novel adaptations. At least when American cartoons try to rip off other cartoons (Pickle & Peanut ripping off Regular Show), it tries to look different.

Someone nominated Berserk in that generic anime thread.

Science still cannot locate that poster's brain.

That's not even good trolling.

Gotou's voice seems good to me, the president's speech was well delivered, Migi has always seemed quite appropriate, that criminal guy is great all around.

Shinichi's VA just sounds uncomfortable when he has to make an exclamation, kind of like Steve Staley. And then there's that detective who sounds like they got a Sentai business-end employee to voice lines.

Edit; not the detective who died, the chief guy

The dude spends 2 hours ripping into a show no one will remember in a year (might as well dump on Absolute Duo or Knights and Masques) before saying how he likes Chivalry of a Failed Knight better which is basically the same thing.

I don't get this meme reviewer.

Someone also said Hunter x Hunter.
Where am I?

Though that "Bleach is YYH remade by Michael Bay" comment makes soooo much sense.

I think the idea is to cover shitty light novel adaptations in general, and he felt Asterisk War covers every single trope & cliche.

I think I'm just tired of seeing the YouTube reviewers grind down criticisms to "HOW SHIT IS THIS THING? or "HOW AWESOME IS THIS THING?" and then just list a bunch of stuff with no connections. It's mainly a thing with games and stuff but its all over. I think it sucks people would rather watch "Top 10 Hottest Anime Characters" by WatchMojo then read some shit a dude sat down and actually translated himself. But I guess I'm in a very small minority being part of anitwitter and being an enthusiast.

Edit - Example: Angry Joe reviews the Division gets 600+ posts while a well researched longform article on Polygon about The Game Industry of Iran can't even crack 200 and it only made it that far because of Besada. I guess there is less to shitfling about.

The OP in that derivative stories thread listed Lord of the Rings as being derivative. I assume most people just don't know what those words mean.

I confused. Just because they are still in business means I can't criticize decisions they make? I mean its true I, and most lay men, don't have all the information on hand but I'm still allowed to evaluate their decisions and choices based on the information I do have no? Should I just never criticize anyone or anything because they didn't fuck up all the time or in every-way? I mean that's clearly not what you mean right? Or are you arguing that them not simulcasting Dragon Ball Super is actually a good decision? If you think so then why?

So what would you rather him spend his time on then? I mean the point of his discussion of the show is to intellectually evaluate and discuss why its bad, not to just say its bad. Evaluating subpar material has value either as an intellectual exercise or as a way for future content consumers/creators to avoid such issues or similar content. With regards to your last point, there is also value in saying "both these things are bad/mediocre but this second one is actually slightly better for X reasons". He's also being paid to do it and people asked him to do this (and appreciate it). Is it that the show is not popular enough that bothers you (even though he's gone in on popular shoes like SAO too)?

Hyperbole and negativity are usually a good way to get hits. Not necessarily a good thing but its kind of an understood thing at this point.

I never said it was a good decision, just that there is likely rationale behind it. Of course you can be frustrated or confused at Toei, but I am just going to assume that they have a reason. Dragon Ball is big enough that it could be pushed onto a block bigger then Toonami on a larger network. At this point it is clear something is up, just not sure if its smart to blame it all on Toei yet because "lol Toei"

On the second point, I don't watch those shows anyway for my own reasons which are likely 90% the same so I have no interest in seeing a massive criticism of them. In most cases, video stuff is not how I want to engage with criticism anyway.

A) I mean if this all turns out to be a master plan by Toei I'll sing their praises but as far as I can see, in this day and age of internet streaming, they are being dumb. Then again, I think the time when anime can get primetime slots on American TV outside specialty channels like Cartoon Network has long passed. Toei is just letting money sit on the table by either not selling any streaming rights or making them SO expensive nobody can afford them.

B) I mean Asterisk War isn't a show that interests me in the least but I still find entertainment and intellectual value in its deconstruction. I don't think you have to actively like something to like seeing it taken apart (in the analytical sense not necessarily the critical sense). I also appreciate some of his videos for the time they save me - instead of having to write huge posts over and over again about why SAO sucks, I can just link a video :). Said person may not watch it but at least something that closely matches my thoughts on that and other subjects already exists. There also isn't much critical video content on anime in English out there anyway so I appreciate the content more.

We lost a lot of good women and men in the asterisk war, I'll tell you what. All that death and for what, to protect those that will never even know why we fought.

SWORD ART ONLINE - EPISODE TWO: Beater

Ex-beta tester? Don't even compare me to those losers. Most of you are better than those scrubs. I climbed higher than any of those jabronis and know more than any information broker.

Beater, I like the name.

John Cena is a Beater.

Roman Reigns is like Diable, that Blue haired ex-beta tester who probably printed the manual and got domed by the first bosses Frenzy mode Nodachi. He'd heard it was a Tulwar! He tried resting part of that royal rumble in the corner but he died instead.
