Yes and no.

If you want a bunch of action, SIGN isn't the show for you.

If you want complex motivations... it's also probably not the show for you, but it comes closer than most children's anime.

As a pensive anime about the nature of the immortal soul, isolation, depression, and abuse (wrapped in an MMO blanket) it's literally the cream of the crop.

I remember a scene in SIGN where two characters basically talked about their shitty part-time jobs, and relating to it.

That and the main lead had amnesia or repressed memories or something?

I remember trying to play the very first .hack game on PS2, but only got about an hour or two in because the gameplay wasn't clicking with me.

I also remember that Twilight of the Bracelet or whatever. Ugh, like half of the cast (mainly the females) had such annoyingly high pitched voices, & one episode ended with "HEY, YOU WIN A KISS FROM THE CHARACTER WHO IS TECHNICALLY YOUR SISTER, BUT IT'S TOTS OK CUZ IT'S JUST A GAME!"

All I know about .hack is:

  • it was the first thing I ever saw with that weird Japanese naming scheme of using punctuation in the title of your thing, and is thus still the first thing I think of when I think about it
  • and it always ranked in the top 10 most viewed games on GameFAQs, about 10 years ago, and 13-year old me always thought "what a weirdly named game"

I have no idea what ties into which and how. Apparently the video games are also part of the story?

I'm a bit trepidatious about Fire Emblem Warriors (how is the weapon wheel gonna work in a Musou style game?), but Marth and Chrom look nice.

I'm kind of still debating Musou All-Stars, though considering now that August has games like Sonic Mania (LE is pre-ordered) & MAYBE Senran Kagura PBS (which I think comes out the same day, but I'm debating getting it at launch), I'll probably wait for a sale.

...& despite not being big into FE, I actually kind of want to get FE Warriors. If anything, I want it to lead to more insane stuff like a Shonen Jump Musou or Smash Bros Musou or Pokemon Musou. Hell, part of the reason I want Musou All-Stars is because of Rio who attacks by using stuff from a casino & it's the perfect type of "stupid, but fun".

Not only does that exist, there's a Romance of the Three Kingdoms/Yo-kai Watch crossover game. Not sure if we'll ever get it though.

The reactions were moreso that it was a DS game being released in 2012 (this was before we knew about Black 2 and White 2).

Eeeh, I've gotten all the previous LEs for the SK games that Xseed released, but considering the import impressions, it sounds like the weakest game in the series. I probably would've just gotten it at launch because there's really nothing until Sept. (well aside from Crash N-Sane) with Danganronpa V3 & MvC Infinite (which ugh, don't let that leaked roster be true...), but now that stuff like Sonic Mania & Raiden V in August, I'll probably wait until it hits around $50 or $40 on top of a GCU discount.

...oh right, need to also remember I'm getting that Jojo BD near the end of July as well.

There's an anime with the premise that you can create super-weapons by sealing the spirits of dead military leaders in them, like putting Nobunaga in a gun.

I don't know anything else about the series and it was probably shit, but I still remember it for that goofy premise, and I remember the title for the stupid pun, Nobunagun.

probably says a lot about the importance of having a good plot hook and title

so i got caught up with Toonami, and here are my thoughts

Sam Jack ended pretty mediocre tbh. First few episodes had perfect pacing, after Ashi showed up, the pacing and and story direction went to shit imo. The ending was pretty stupid as well. Just fucking stealing the ending of Gurren Lagann is cool I guess

HXH fight was pretty cool, but I don't like how they sit there and over explain everything during a fight. Nen works a lot better in post fight situations imo. During battle it should just be shown.

DBS was DBS

I don't like Gun Ham or Tokyo Ghoul at all
