Yeah, I expect the end to be just as confusing as the rest because, y'know, obscure mythologies and such.

It's like a staple of so many anime movies/shows. Just find some obscure or complicated mythology and build a show around it. Doesn't matter of none of it makes sense. Just think of all of the cool sounding names and bizarre concepts you can use.

Overall, I would say I'm glad I got to watch this, but at the same time, it would be hard to recommend unless they saw Shinkai's other films & wanted to see this as well.

It least it was worth it for the visual & the concept in general. It's just that I feel like Studio Ghibli would've been able to deliver a better story overall.

Nah, I get what you mean. It has the core concept & structure for a great story, but like I mentioned, it feels like it would've worked if Ghibli themselves did this.
