Agreed, he had a perfectly valid motive & just lost sight (no pun intended) when he was so close.

If anything, didn't feel like there was a "true" villain in this film, just some people who were against what the main characters wanted because they knew it was forbidden.

I think so. I'm glad I watched it. It wasn't great but it had a lot of interesting, if not well executed things going on.

I think this is the best way to say it. Interesting concepts but it was had some missteps that kept it from greatness. Some editing and a little new would have gone a long way here.

Not perfect, had a ton of flaws, dub was uneven at best...but I didn't HATE it and I wasn't bored enough to bail.

This...feels like it sums up my feelings as well, & wrap it all up in a Ghibli-esque setting.

Again, out of the few Shinkai films I've seen, this probably was the weakest, but it wasn't flat-out terrible. It just wasn't able to execute all of its ideas very well.

& again, the dub was MILES above Akame ga Kill & much better than Parasyte. There was only a few lines that seemed off, but I didn't dislike it by any means.

Wikipedia said she was 16 throughout the movie. Yeah, I don't buy it but then she just graduated so I guess she was.

Hopfully next movie we get is Boy and the Beast, since Girl who Leapt through Time and Wolf Children aren't necessarily action movies.

It definitely ended stronger than it began. Once it became clear what the film was trying to say was when I actually enjoyed it. It just took a bit to get there, but ultimately, I'm glad I saw this.

If there's one thing I dislike (besides the editing of OPs and EDs) now, and always have, about Toonami, it is this. There's more to the medium than just action.

Overall, I gotta agree with Seda. The movie has all the makings of a good story but it falls a bit short. I'm not knocking it or anything but I also wouldn't go out of my way to watch this movie in the future. Still, there are a lot worse movies we could have been subjected to. I enjoyed this enough to make it worth it.

Yeah, this. It had a slow start, super fast middle of getting to the main "point", then seemed alright, despite it feeling like it kind of just "stopped".

This certainly isn't anywhere near the worst movie that Toonami's aired, but also barely escapes from being in the bottom 3.
