It was the pacing thing and somewhat abrubt nature of it, and the way the fusing thing was poorly explained. The universe itself was fine.I imagine people have already said this but depending on what part you didn't like, if you like the idea of the franchise, don't write off giving it a chance before trying the TV series version GitS: Stand Alone Complex.
Yeah, the ep is a great watch. It was awesome to hear it in the dub for the first time. Love the cast.

It's a bummer we gotta wait a loonngggg time for Part 3. At this point, I'm sure we'll get it, but I would imagine they might want to air something else first to give Jojo a "break", then we'd get both seasons of Part 3 at once. I'll just be content if we got it next year.

Wasn't Fairy Tail in one of the top 5 requested lists at one point? Hearing that HxH & Jojo were requested more is great to hear, but I wonder if at this rate, with the amount of shows Toonami has gotten that fans demanded, if FT will still rank.

Okay so I don't follow or visit anime blogs and whatnot. But stuff like DBZ/Naruto/OnePiece/HxH/Jojo/SAO/Gundam/etc still show up in general video-gamey type websites and such. Sometimes I'll hear about currently popular shows of now-airing seasons.
I rarely hear (or have heard) about Fairy Tail outside of this thread. It's never seemed to be very prevalent in the general mindshare, to me.

Because it is pretty paint by the numbers when it isn't being awful about fanservice. Toonami pretty much is running on full steam right now. And most of the top 5 demanded have aired or is airing.
Huh, interesting. Perhaps fans figured there was enough long running stuff at the moment & didn't want another one taking a slot. Hell, Jojo might be considered one if they were to air Part 3 right after Part 2.
It tends to be one of the "introductory" animes for younger fans, from what I've noticed, but doesn't have the lasting power of other franchises like the ones you've listed. I remember my little sister watching it at one point, but she moved on from it to other stuff like AoT & Tokyo Ghoul.
I just recall it making the top 5 requested shows at one point or two (might've been 2014 as mentioned by Man God), so that's probably why it gets mentioned around here, usually as a joke.
Also this, that's probably why for younger fans, it tends to be one of their first animes, but then forget about it once they discover other stuff.
Ugh the fan service in FT, really makes me think the woman in the FT are not characters but just fetishes/cliches.

I think it's because that while Fairy Tail is sorta popular, it struggled to reach a higher position.

It's filler isn't nearly as bad, but Naruto is miles above Fairy Tail. More than any other Shonen I've ever watched, FT is the most afraid to take any risks with the narrative and sticks the closest to it's status quo. The characters all get "sad anime flashbacks" but all of them have barely changed in any meaningful way over the course of 500+ chapters.

Fairy Tail is about as well known as something like Soul Eater, more popular then that but it never broke into the stratosphere the way the bigger shonen series did. If we were to tier series based upon popularity FT is probably at the top of tier 2.

One of the characters gets stronger the more naked she gets and another is constantly in softcore bondage scenarios. Who the hell thought it belonged next to reruns of Fairly Odd Parents?
Yeah, that would've been a disaster.

Well, to be fair, cutting out a few scenes in the first few episodes would probably work. Even the dub sounded kid-friendly up to some point.

You could have 4Kids Fairy Tail into something that could have aired on Nickelodeon or day time CN.

I don't even know this anime outside of here but that suggestion is just...Ew.
4kids died and fractured off because of its standards and practices and the only things that were mega successful that came out of their editing habits were Yu Gi Oh and Pokemon both of which went back to their rightful owners at some point.
I get what you were trying to say Bass but we don't need 4kids anything at this point.

I understand this, but in 2010-11 when fairy tail could have premiered dubbed on us tv that kind of cleaned up pg rated version of fairy tail would have been easy and worked well on nicktoons. Most of the soft core porn stuff people in here talk about wasn't a part of FT early on and the amount you'd need to censor/edit would be light enough to make it viable.
I'd think it'd be closer to YYH or afternoon DBZ. Funimation did a decent job with tv edits.

Problem is that until this point like what we've seen on Toonami we haven't seen edited anime done really right, its been all rice balls and black guys turning into white guys and blue mr. popo. maybe you're right and it could've worked but it would need editing in a way that isn't immortalized for being soo bad its good.
oh a side note, Remember how butchered Megaman.EXE was? that wasn't even 4kids related but man oh man did that go through the meat grinder. I had to watch the japanese version just to get a decent watch out of it. turned into one of my favorite series's though

You'd think so considering it came out six months before Outlaw Star.
But the true pioneer for TOONAMI was 08th MS team, which aired almost exactly one year before.
