I feel like Hisoka's nen should have been more difficult to conquer.

Hisoka just wants to keep Gon and Kilua from getting themselves killed by other people who wouldn't hold back like he did. He just wanted to give them enough time to learn enough nen to survive up there.

That's pretty much the reason for my suggestion. The anime's fine but when it comes to HxH the manga's an out and out classic.

Yu Yu Hakusho also has this problem for it's non important characters, but there's a lot better designs in general

Yeah, I think YYH's designs had that "older cool anime" look that made the plain still look pretty cool.

It's not working for me here. I kinda wish this show existed before YYH, because I'd have liked to go from the "kid" characters to more mature ones; this feels like something of a regression, personally.

I love her facial expressions.

The announcers and stuff are the most fun. I feel like the animators and stuff get to show what they want with them, but are more restricted with the main cast.
