What this is?
Its from Vanillaware, its VN with real-time strategy gameplay.

Watch this and see if you are in to it. I'm sure is not gonna be everyones cup of tea.

edit: also I made a preview thread for it.

Didn't even watch it. Saw the first sentence with Kaiju, sped through and saw a girl in some type of booty shorts, and knowing Vanillaware? I'm sold.

I would still say watch some gameplay of it before deciding. I personally sold on the gameplay but this game is not like Odin Sphere or Dragon's Crown.

Well, I'm still looking forward to Ys9 - as well as whole bunch of backlog of games that I want to check out for PS4.
Danganronpa is one of them - but I may just end up getting them on steam... also Gravity Rush 1 and 2.
And usually the type that I enjoy often come out very late in the life cycle - as they are mostly niche games.

It's just that most people consider Ghost of Tsushima the swan song of PS4 but to me this will be the equivalent. There might be other games released later which I am looking forward to immensely, like Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (probably my favorite game of 2010s along with NieR) but I have the feeling that 13 Sentinels will be very memorable.

I think there is really good chance this game becomes my GOTY for this year. Also both import reviews and recent previews all be very positive even though the gameplay is very niche compare to Vanillaware's previous games.

When you got games like these and other VNs then obviously the most important aspect is the story, so I hope it resonates with me. Dragon's Crown for example doesn't really have a story, but the artistry of all other departments carries the game (gameplay, graphics, music, art etc.). Really, one of the best parts of Dragon's Crown is the art gallery, which is just your classic European and Arabic myths with astonishing art from amazing Japanese artists. But when it comes to 13 Sentinels, it will all depend on the story and presentation, the gameplay is obviously secondary.

I have been re-playing Odin Sphere for 13 sentinels anticipation and god damn, I fell in love with this game all over again. I fully trust Vanillaware in whatever they do.

Only Mafia interests me - but only if they have managed to actually improve it instead of just adding modern unnecessary open-world clutter into it.

Anyone can screw up, but considering the word of mouth it seems that 13 Sentinels should be good. Really, when it comes to story or any other aspect of a for that matter, it is down to individual tastes. See I didn't like the story of NieR Automata while most others did. Vanillaware aren't infallible so I'm not gonna be unnecessarily hyped about it, but I am looking forward to it a lot.

No one excites for Baldur's Gate 3? It might be good, guys.

Larian always releases their "enhanced" editions so I'll just wait for that, although sometimes the old versions are better. For example Original Sin 1 I enjoyed the voice acting and subtle differences of the OG version much more than the enhanced. The second I started on Enhanced so I can't compare.

Very true, I personally don't hype based on other people, I mostly hype a game based on what I personally from the game and I honestly really liked what saw from 13 Sentinels both story and gameplay.

Also the visual for this game is fantastic, especially the background art! It's god damn gorgeous!!

That's a load of remasters/remakes.

Got my eyes on Baldur's Gate, Tony Hawk, Mafia, Crysis and Iron Harvest. I won't be getting any of them right away though.

Only Crysis and Kingdoms of Amalur interest me but I already have both playable on my xbox anyway so probably won't bother. I would like to see the ray tracing in Crysis on the One X though.

13 Sentinels, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 and Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning are the games I want to play. But I may pass on them for now and sell my PS4 after I finish Final Fantasy VII Remake and just wait to play them on PS5.

Slightly interested in the mafia remake but i didn't liked mafia 3 at all.

Amalur could be interesting if they added a new difficulty mode that is not an absolute cakewalk like the vanilla game.

Not a great month for me.

Also, I am hoping we get Modern Warfare 3 Remastered ASAP, hopefully by the end of the year. According to insiders it has been finished for years along with 1 and 2.

I can't believe 13 Sentinels doesn't have proper collectors edition for west, Atlus usually put out decent ones here as well.

Balders Gate 3 is the big one on that list, but it's only early access.

Iron Harvest got some hype, hopefully, it can deliver. Crusader Kings 2 is great and I expect 3 to be too, Tony Hawk looks cool.

Mafia looks good but it's not a game to trust, a lot of ways it can go wrong.

Avengers is gonna be a disaster.

Kingdoms of Amalur releases in a couple of weeks and no gameplay videos yet? I hope they show off it at Gamescom this weekend otherwise it's just weird for THQ to hold off showing the game.

Christ you are easy.
I know you are not happy with the fact this game is not same as pervious Vanillaware games, but after watching the few battles, I'm digging the gameplay and I understand why they went with that style.

Besides I'm still getting my side scroller action game later this year.

Sure it doesn't have same artstyle as Vanillaware but still looks pretty good and charming and the combat looks really good.

I like the combat in that sakuna trailer...

Yeah, Sakuna is looking really good so far, I can't believe this game is being made by two people.

Both 13 Sentinels and Sakuna are my most hyped game for this year.

Just Tony for me. Gonna have to pick up some books this month because the games offering is woeful.
