It's been a month since the idea gathering website from Sony was relaunched for PS4 and PS Vita, and I thought it would be interesting to see which ideas from the community are currently on top. I collected every idea that currently scores above 1,000 points (except for PS Vita ideas, since there aren't that many compared to PS4 ideas). I also added some notes of my own in italics.

Top 10 PlayStation 4 firmware ideas:

1. Enhance PS4 media support - Score*: 7,335

   The PS4 has amazing hardware. What it lacks is media friendly software. At a minimum we need what the PS3 had (Photos, Music (MP3/CD), Videos (MP4/AVI)). Ideally we’d get 4K-HEVC/MKV/ FLAC support.

   > I think at least MP3 support is already coming, but the ability to play CDs and the most popular video formats would be great​
2. Notifications for friends' sign-on/offs - Score: 6,143

   The PS4 needs to have what the PS3 had with the notifications of people signing on and off. At least add it as an option for those who do not want this.

   > This one is a no-brainer, although things could get chaotic with 2,000 friends. I suggest adding a "Favorite Friends" feature so only those would be shown​
3. Pause and prioritize downloads - Score: 3,503

   We need the option to pause our download as well as to prioritize them so we can have them download in the order we want.

   > Essential feature. Especially if your Internet speed isn't fantastic​
4. Quick PS4 game/chat invite - Score: 2,633

   You should be able to invite or join anybody you highlight on your friends list, or even players met list, at the touch of a button (recommend Square) instead of going through so many menus.

5. Offline Trophies on PS4 - Score: 2,400

   Allow us to view our trophies while offline on the PS4.

6. 3D Blu-ray Support on PS4 - Score: 2,248

   Release a patch that adds support for 3D Blu-ray movies.

   > Kind of weird how this isn't supported yet, especially when you consider the big 3D push from Sony not so long ago​
7. Trophy sorting - Score: 1,345

   The ability to sort PS4 Trophies by completion percentage.

   > Not only by completion %, but also alphabetically and by date earned. Ascending and descending order, as well​
8. Ability to change light “strip” color on PS4 - Score: 1,191

   The ability to change the color of the light strip on the PS4 console, currently the default color is white while the console is on, quite a boring color!

9. Video Chat - Score: 1,105

   Video chat using the PlayStation Camera.

10. Option to put games in “folders” - Score: 1,037

    Add the option to un-clutter the Home Screen by allowing us to put games in folders similar to how the “TV & Video” is in its own folder/drop down menu.

    > Any options to allow for better organization of the home screen would be welcome​

Top 5 PlayStation Vita firmware ideas:

1. DualShock 4 compatibility for PS Vita Remote Play - Score: 3,920

   Please make the next PS Vita update sync with DualShock 4 so I can use it on the road rather than when I am home.

   > Not only for Remote Play, but for the whole system. I'd actually go buy a DualShock 4 right now if I could use it on the Vita. Not sure if it's technically possible, though​
2. Multiple accounts on PS Vita - Score: 1,101

   I’d really like to have multiple accounts on the Vita like it is on PS3/PS4 with the ability to share the content between my family members.

   > An essential feature for anyone who has ever used multiple accounts on PS3 or PS4. Would also make PS Vita 100% region-free. This should be #1​
3. Increase PSP to PS Vita compatibility - Score: 526

   Please bring more compatible games to the Vita! The PSP library available to the Vita excludes many of its most popular titles.

   > Absolutely. Most games are actually compatible, but you are simply not allowed to download them​
4. Option to turn off auto dim on PS Vita - Score: 326

   It´s terrible having to interact with the screen when watching something and the screen simply dims out without any means to avoid it. Add the option to turn off auto-sleep

5. Only show PS Vita-compatible software in Download List - Score: 300

   Can you please make a check box in the store download list that says “Only show PS Vita compatible software” so that I don’t have to scroll through the hundreds of non-Vita items to find something?

   > Yes. Yes. YES. Especially when you consider that the Store returns to the top of the download list when you download something​

Top PlayStation Network ideas:

1. Ability to change User ID - Score: 21,481

   PSN needs an update to add the ability to change User ID for $5.

2. Convert sub account to master account - Score: 8,827

   It would be great to provide a way to convert a sub account to a master account when the user of the sub account turns 18.

   > That this and the above aren't an option yet makes me believe that Sony originally created PSN on very fragile foundations​
3. Delete trophies with 0% - Score: 4,919

   There should be a way for you to delete trophies with 0% on all these free games I try out, that I never have any intention of playing again.

4. Display total time spent playing - Score: 2,301

   PSN should have a feature that allows you to see how many hours you have spent playing each individual game.

   > Similar to Nintendo's Activity Log, would be nice​
5. Game gifting on PlayStation Store - Score: 2,044

   Allow one to buy games for other users.

6. Ability to clean up download list - Score: 1,200

   We should be able to clean up our download list from our PlayStation account from all the unwanted demos we download. If you agree, vote yes…

   > We should be able to sort and filter the download list. Actually deleting content sounds dangerous​

I'd like to hear your opinions on these. Do you think there are some other features that should be on top as well?

By the way, you can go on the site and vote on ideas, or even submit your own. Keep in mind that the site isn't very well designed, since older, more popular ideas get more visibility than new submissions.

Other than that, I'm okay with that list. I expect most of the PS4 stuff to happen. I don't expect any of the Vita stuff, unfortunately.

Sony actually has acknowledged the demand for this. Their answer has been that handhelds are a 'personal' thing unlike consoles which are supposed to be enjoyed with your family and friends (thus you're able to have multiple accounts on one for all the people using it).

Uncompressed screenshot captures is #1 on my list

Video recording also needs to be upped in quality to 1080p and uncompressed if possible ( with 60fps support of course, or native framerate support ). Don't know though. Is it hardware or software that is doing the recording? If Software it could perhaps be upgraded, if hardware I think we are stuck with what it is currently. Maybe a future model enhancement if they wanted to do it later.

Almost all that stuff on the list is " meh " to me. Could care less about most of it. I really don't care about friend notifications. I am perfectly fine with the media support already here. Pausing downloads doesn't really matter to me as I am rarely downloading multiple things at once anyway.

The only thing on that list that I REALLY want is changing the On LED light. I want it to the Blue that is always advertised with the system. Godly color, makes the console look amazing. The white is just ... why!

I don't get why we should have to wait for some mega firmware update to get things like folders and friend notifications, when those updates are so far and in between.

I don't know anything about how it's done, but how hard is it to push updates for things like giving us themes/colour options on the fly? Would there really need to be so much testing/firmware processes? Seems like a last gen thing, there must be a faster way.

I have a hunch DualShock 4 support is #1 only because it's somewhat related to PS4. Anything PS4-related appears to be more popular there (PS4 owners are probably hungry for new features).

There needs to be more votes for "Appear Offline." Sometimes you need to be online in a game to use some of its features but can't or don't want to play with others which leaves you either having to decline a bunch of invites, or ignore them and look/feel like a douche.

MP3 support needs to happen quick fast, though. I absolutely need more custom soundtracks in games.

How the hell is "Suspend/resume support" NOT #1 on the PS4 list? Is it because Sony said at one point it was coming and then decided to fuck off for two years, so technically it's a fulfilled request? Because how that's not on the list when "change the colour of the stripe on the PS4" is confounds me to the point where I'm irrationally angry at all the people who voted for that option.

EDIT: Searching for either "suspend" or "resume" brings up exactly zero PS4 results. So either Sony's actively deleting requests for PS4 suspend/resume or everyone that uses the requests site is really that stupid. Probably the former.

I'm glad number 1 is what it is. They need to get MP3 and CD support on there, pronto. If the PS3 could do it its entire cycle, then why the hell didn't the PS4 have this feature included straight out of the box launch day. Your XMB is different from mine? My games don't disappear and the library app is at the back of the XMB. Rending it kinda useless. Library should be at the front of the row not at the back.

Only showing PS Vita-compatible software in Download List is a complete no brainer. How Sony didn't implement this on release who the hell knows. Such a pain in the arse trying to download past PS+ and digital titles on the Vita Store.
