I don't get it. IGN gave Top Spin Xbox version 9.3 a couple of years ago. The port is identical to the Xbox version except it has longer load times and the characters aren't as "gorgeous" as their Xbox counterparts, Duh this is the PS2. But 7.4, give me a break.

Answer: The 9.3 was way too high. I've played Top Spin Xbox quite a bit and I don't think it's really close to a 9+ game. Just IMO.

Did the same person review it? Different people have different opinions, even within the same organization you know. "IGN" is not some singular entity...

Maybe IGN is expecting more from the PS2's hardware now.
I know I am after playing God of War, MGS3, and reading previews of RE4.

There's no excuse for the graphics not being spot on or enhanced from the Xbox version since the game is so old.

99% of all ports from Xbox to PS2 have reduced graphics. I didnt think the game was that great compared to Smashcourt 2 and the 9.3 was an early xbox.ign score back when everything was 8 or 9.

I got it in today for review...

Very deep, plays really well. But it's boring as shit. No commentary, no crowd noise, no soundtrack, no NOTHING.

...this many days later I finally review it (D+). All the faults came out, the game's shit past the controls, pure and simple.

Sound? What sound?
Graphics? First-gen PS2.
Competitive AI? Easily faked out.
Multiplayer? The only saving grace.

Loading times are fucking outrageous too.

So the true answer is Top Spin PS2 is just another bad port.
