lower the rim

*runs away*

EDIT:

Yes i understand the implications in terms of infrastructure at local and non-league clubs and gyms. i got more sense than that.

Women should participate more in motor sport, starting from a young age. Theyd have a weight advantage definitely (being lighter) and with power steering negating any advantage in upper body strength, I cant think of any area where men would have an inherent advantage over them.

Lol I was watching some highlights on NBAtv and they reported that Taurasi is gonna miss the season due to rest.No mention of her Russian team.

Integrated NBA would be unfair to women from a playing standpoint. But the sad thing is with team quotas being mandatory, it would help their pay.

Serena herself has recognized she couldn't handle any top ranked men, ("Talking about playing against Andy Murray, she said "That would be fun. I doubt I’d win a point, but that would be fun.” and "Maybe I can get a game. I’m not sure, but I think I can get a game.”) but I don't know if she's said how low she would have to drop. I do know 'experts' have come out saying (multiple times) that she would have to drop into the 300-400's to consistently beat men.

It's not about a lack of skill, it's about a lack of physicality inherently missing from the vast majority of women.

There's an article out there where a 600 ranked player talks about a training game he had with the Williams sisters and how he easily won. I don't think she would be top 500 and those guys are barely pros.

I think the competitiveness (and funding) at the top of women's tennis is higher than at the 500 ranked level in men's. I really don't think that argument holds water where well over 90% of the difference in performance between women and men in sports can be attributed to biology.

Biology is a social construct.

You simply can't argue with people who have no understanding of how an average athlete's body works. Not every argument can be patriarchied away.

I'm not surprised more overseas teams aren't paying for the services of WNBA players. If it'll make your team better, pay for it. It might actually get this American league to care a bit more about its product

I am offended that people are offended that other people believe women aren't capable of playing professional sports with men. Am I doing it right?

But seriously, what the hell did I just read?

It makes the league look absolutely ridiculous. I'm not surprised they shied away from it

Imagine a quality NBA player playing in the WNBA. He'd break every other record and be the league/Finals MVP every season.

Am I the only one that thinks a professional women's volleyball league in America would do way better then the WNBA? Also I have never understood why the WNBA doesn't lower the rim.

I worked with two WNFL players at an airport back in 2000. They were getting paid like $20k a year, that's all, despite one of them being a quarterback. We were baggage handlers making $10 an hour and they needed that second job in order to pay bills.

Another worker was a MN Gopher football scholarship winner and another was a 6'6, 400 pound indie rapper, so you can imagine the slow Tuesday afternoon football games were like. Pretty fucking awesome.

Sounds reasonable to me. I love basketball and the NBA but have no desire to watch the WNBA but I would probably consider watching a women's volleyball league.

I've always found it darkly ironic that Magic Johnson owns a team in a league where players are treated and compensated like slaves.

Reality.

A high ranking boys High School team would beat the WNBA champions by 20+ points.

The WNBA exists as corporate welfare. The thing should be dead and buried by now.

Bang. There's not much reason for the WNBA to exist other than to satisfy the you-know-whos of the world. It's much more lucrative to play overseas. I hope Brittany Griner comes to her senses and goes to China or the like. Actually make a decent living.

i mean in their defense they did a lot better than i probably would.

but then again i've never gotten on a motorcycle.

EDIT:

upon further watching, did the bikes just not have the Horsepower to move up the logs/rocks? Gotdamn

they perform in an entertainment medium that's dependent on people being entertained and bringing in viewership. the fact they make more than say a doctor of physical therapy is already a boon to them. slavery is a bit of a harsh term.

Those differences in skill exist due to prevailing subversive gender norms, not inherent biological differences.

This is bullshit.

The men are stronger, faster, have more muscle mass, more fast twitch muscle fiber, more lung capacity, thicker bones, and so on.

Please stop it with this nonsense. A mixed sex league would mean no chance for women to play professionally.

I'm all for equality for the genders, but that does mean that there exist no biological differences. Sexual dimorphism is still a thing physically.

You know it's one thing to say that women can't do physically intense jobs well like military jobs for instance, but come on guys, the very end of the bell curve for men in physical strength is going to be more well suited for this game. Now I'm sure some women could be physically gifted enough to play point guard or shooting guard, but anything else will be a lot more rare.

The separation of sexes in sports isn't completely about being sexist. It gives the most talented women in their sport the chance to succeed. Unfortunately, the WNBA is a complete shit show right now.

What if they ran it like an intramural league and required a certain amount of women on the court at all times?
LOL

This would actually be really fun to watch at the higher levels. I'm sure if you go the YMCA in the general vicinity of UCONN you'll find some girls that will run with the best local guys.

i think people don't realize how big the gap really is.
or they don't want to, not sure which one.

like it makes women any worse or men any better.

The salaries of the WNBA are low, in comparison to their male counterparts, because it fits with the revenue targets of the sport in the US. Also the league is very young historically speaking.

If there was more interest, salaries would rise.

It seems there are overseas markets that more friendly to women's basketball, so players can make more money there.
