ToQGAF 2014 | Hanamichi! The Next Stop Is Imagination's Stage!

I can't believe Kyoryuger is almost over. Next week is going to get wild.

I didn't watch that many Sentais. I'd say I watched 4 complete sentai shows: Changeman, Flashman (both 20+ years ago), Dekaranger (5-6 years ago) and Kyoryuger, with a couple episodes here and there of Goggle V, but I find It really amazing how Kyoryuger is amazing from top to bottom, as a Series overall. I was really surprised by it. Glad I watched it as it came out and discussed it with you guys (which I find much more entertaining than binge watching TV shows by myself).

ToQger is really not sending me good vibes, but we'll see. Maybe this is finally the year that I'll watch Gokaiger simultaneously, since the main Sentai series doesn't appeal to me as much.

I'm guessing what Micchy sees is a mass of dormant/frozen Invess, with perhaps a sleeping future Mai lying on top or in the middle. Micchy obviously sees whatever is there as a major horror and danger, yet it isn't immediately dangerous. Takatora talks about security a future for humanity and the coming war. Also, the Yggdrasil staff talk about solving the mystery of Helheim, and not knowing who the forest will choose, and we also have the initial scene where Riders will be leading massive Invess armies against each other.

I'm really excited for what is to come in Gaim.

You've seen more than me. I've only seen Boukenger and Gokaiger in their entireties, as well as Kamen Rider Den-O. You'd think I'd have seen Bioman by my avatar, but I've only seen the first 10 episodes and the movie. I've also seen at least one episode from a ton of other Sentai.

Gaim

Finally sat down to watch this week's Gaim and the show continues to have me hooked. It's kind of funny how with the other Rider series I've watched so far, I always was looking forward to the upgrades, but in Gaim I find them to be a secondary element. I look forward more to how the story is going to develop than Kouta getting his new form variations. I still enjoy the different lockseeds and what different uses the belts are getting, but it feels like it's just not as front and center in the grand scheme of things. I will say I'm enjoying reading everyone's take on "What did Micchy see?" and I can see why the obvious choice would be a ruined city of some sort or a frozen Invess army. Kind of hoping what Micchy saw is like some sort of god/unearthly being, but this guess doesn't have any reasoning behind it I just think it'd be cool. haha

Regarding Gaim, there's this shot in the first episode...

KamenRiderGaim_ep_01_01_zpsa8fe20f0.jpg

It could either mean the Zawame is going to be completely destroyed in the future... or... that's actually what Taketora showed to Mitsuzane? A ruined Zawame city covered by the forest in the Helheim dimension - which would suggest that it's either the future or an alternate world, and that the same thing could happen to their own world if they don't stop it (I think an alternate world would make more sense, because if it were the future, they'd already know who's going to be chosen by the forest). An alternate Earth also would avoid all the problems that would come from going between the past and future (even to summon their armors!) so often.

Now, I think the image there looks too clean compared to how Helheim's atmosphere is usually shown, but it could just be an oddity because it's a quick prologue scene, and the actual area that Mitsuzane saw will look more ruined and alien.

New OT! Break out the gifs folks. Show some of the craziest things you got and show people why we watch. Also HOLY SHIT at Sid being Lion Maru G! I knew I recognized him for some reason. How could I forget the Toku comedy about the worlds worst male escort? In the first 4 minutes of the show he had already hit a homeless person in the head with a bottle, found a full condom on a daily walk, ran from loan sharks he skipped out on, and sexually harassed a woman with the pickup line " You gave me an erection take responsibility for it!"

Sid just took on entire new levels of entertaining considering his role in Gaim being so different. :D

If I'm the writer of Gaim to replace Urobuchi at this point of the story, Helheim will be an alternate universe and Yggdrasil managed to open cracks to it. What Micchy saw was a ruined AU Zawame, along with all of its armored riders defeated...

...by our old friend, the Destroyer of Worlds.

Yggdrasil is just researching a power to defeat Decade. I wanted it to become real just to see how the fanbase would flip out.

Oh boy oh boy

I hope you watch Super Megaforce, because I think it won't do Gokaiger justice.

:(

I don't see any conceivable way Super Megaforce will get close to Gokaiger.

Also, what if ToQger sucks?

"Every other Sentai rule" is still ringing true for me.

Besides the small nitpicks. Saban made IMO about three major mistakes in planning for the adaptation.

Judging from copleted voice clips it's hard for me to stay positive. But we will see in about 1 week 3 days

Gokaiger was made with obvious love for the original source material. Super Megaforce has to work real hard to pull off that amount of love, and Megaforce tells me Saban doesn't care that much currently.

Yeah, "every other" is still in effect for me since Gekiranger (so, Geki, Shinkenger, Gokai, and Kyoryu). Before that Hurricanger and Dekaranger were my highlights. Magi and Bouken was the two year lull for me.

BatDan

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Another major issue with Super Megaforce... Troy.
Rather, his actor Andrew Gray. He's horrible! His acting is both dull and bland, and that's an astonishing feat.
He might have improved for Super Megaforce, but I really doubt it. We'll see what happens next week.

So what is the deal with toku scans? I know on the gaming side its a huge no no, even if its Japanese, but does it matter here?

If I;m not mistaken, DX Tokkyu-oh's gimmick is that the individual trains are also the trinket for the henshin device? That's kinda cool and they can have a lot of design, as shown in the Gabutyra, DenLiner, and Gobuster Ace(!)'s trains.

So, ToQger will not only have our first male Pink, it'll also have our first official orange Ranger since... Battle Fever J?

I've been researching this. Techinically, Swan was orange in Dekaranger and then there's... Geki Chopper from Gekiranger, which apparently had Orange rims, but was mostly white?

Either way, 2014 is year of the orange. Orange Kamen Rider and Orange Sentai for the ultimate orangeness.

...now where's my vodka...

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
Gaim's Final Form I guess is wearing a "Yasaka-Jinja"...

Originating from the Japanese Heian period, the kazaori eboshi (風折烏帽子) was worn by aristocrats to indicate rank. Still worn today for ceremonial purposes, this black[9] linen hat was used during a samurai's ceremony in attaining manhood

Very fitting.

Oh boy, the Cho Toq-Oh toy looks even worse than the ToQ-Oh toy.

In addition to special Gobuster and Kyoryuger trains, there's a Den-Liner toy for use in the ToQger mech.
Guess we now know what the Rider/Sentai fusion gimmick for Kamen Rider Taisen will be.

Parallax

best seen in the classic "Shadow of the Beast"

Other things of note:

Gaim looks to have an "All Zecters Combined" mode above the still-hidden Shogun form.

first male pink? it isnt his default form

and the trains are a clusterfuck of epic proportions

The scan actually shows the combination of the TokkyuOh with the Kyoryuger train and Denliner, so, yeah, that's certainly what we're getting in the crossover movie. It's kind of odd that they seem to be leaving Gaim out though...

Why do they got to change twice? That really bothers me.
I'm still trying to figure out if they'll really go that route the whole season. Surely the rangers can't be that daft can they? Why not just go straight to Super Mega and Legendary Change to Mega when needed? Wait, do they even have their own Mega Ranger Keys?

See they should have that robot thing get conked in the head and have it start talking a like a pirate. And say that is what inspired their supermode.

I think Saban just expects the kids watching to be really really really dumb, and not to notice these things.
Here's the thing, if kids could notice the discrepancies in Power Rangers in the 90's, then surely they could notice the issues today! Hell, we have the internet. What's going to stop a kid from looking up Gokaiger?

I knew it was bullshit when Tommy flipped the tigerzord and acted like this was his first rodeo.

Or why black turns green.

Or why red grows and blue shrinks.

Or why Green is suddenly acting like a complete clown when he fights.

Reading the comments (bad idea I know), someone brought up that some of the Super Megaforce cards have Sun Vulcan and Goranger members in the background. Weird...

A Pretty Panda

fuckin' called it, man
Super Mega mode is when they turn into the Gokaiger suits.

Legendary mode is when they turn into whoever the fuck

Are they going to explain how the powers got to the keys
