Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter launches September 19 worldwide for PS5, Switch, and PC

GungHo managed to get the English trailer out at the same time as Falcom? They are improving at least.

Now they should start bothering putting up English screenshots on the website maybe.

Maybe GungHo have an advantage if they can use a lot of the already translate script from the old game? Or did Nihon Falcom rewrite everything?

They did? I did not know that. I knew that Xseed took more liberties when localizing the games (which I liked). But I thought that the script was liked well enough by the community that they'd just stick with it.

To be honest, as far as I can remember, there were a couple of threads on 4chan comparing the Xseed script with the original Japanese one and I found the Japanese one to be a bit bland. But maybe there was a bias in what was picked as examples in those threads.

Is this going to be their remake trilogy?
I loved Chapter 1 on PSP and waited for the localization of Chapter 2 which imo was really disappointing, a super repetite structure without the rythm of the original...

Yeah, but sometimes localizers take it too far with borderline fanfiction. You can have both a mostly accurate translation and a translation that reads and flows well in English.

I'm not exactly confident that GungHo is gonna provide a good translation, but it's just a feeling. We will see.

Well, you played SC so you know that there is massive asset and location re-use in the sequel. Should be cheap to make SC. The same applies to 3rd, depending on how much budget they want to use to create the Door's cutscenes.

Most likely they planned the whole trilogy... or at least FC + SC together.
 
I finished Daybreak and I was about to grab Daybreak 2, but I decided not to burn myself out and instead be patient for a couple of moths and buy this day one. Man, I can't wait to dive back in.
 



I like his new design with shorter hair. I still need to get used to all the VA changes in the Japanese version.

I'm jumping in.

Even this pre-order seems limited run and elusive... if I end up loving this series, tracking down physical versions of the other games is probably gonna be a huge hassle

Beyond the Horizon is actually older than Sky Remake. They already had a PS4 SKU for it when the game was released in Japan last year. Sky Remake is their newest game and the first release to skip the PS4.

Maaaan, I don't watch any of these videos, I wanna see them in the game. But Falcom is pumping videos/information non-stop for nearly 2 months. I don't know if its bad or good for the game.

I just watch first trailers of any game. After that if I'm planning to play that game I won't try watch or read any info. Blind runs are my favourites.

Oh I see. So I guess Beyond Horizon will be the last release on PS4. Shame but it's time to move on and they got a huge chunk of the series as it is.
 
I guess I'm getting it on Steam, then....? if there's no word on a Switch 2 version. Also the lack of achievements on Nintendo makes it even less attractive, anyway.
 
game looks great. I'm on the final chapter of the original game right now and i've really enjoyed it, especially the characters. Im probably going to playthrough this before jumping into SC

The english cast has some good names but man do some feel miscast, like estelle isnt a spunky teenager anymore and more like a middle aged woman and loewe sounds like a 40y old.
 
Bamco needs to take notes because this is the treatment that the Tales Of series deserves, whether it's a remake or new entry. Tales of Phantasia and Eternia are preferable.
 
I tried to play trails of cold steel 3 on Switch but it being my first game in this convoluted series made me not understand anything at all.

I'm excited to jump into this remake of the first game. I just need to decide if I want it on PS5, PC, or play it BC on Switch 2.

are all decent starting points, with Sky 1, CS2, and Daybreak 1 probably being the best.

Aaaannd pre-ordered. Took their asses long enough. I wouldn't be surprised if Switch 1 preorders were tracking lower than expected because of those waiting for this announcement 😅
 
From what I have heard the PC port seems to be solid, I wouldn't have bet 50 mira on that.

GungHo seems to have removed the fanfiction from the localization while still flowing well in English. Extremely based, we will see if the full product has this level of consistency.

Glad GungHo is involved and not NISA. NISA shit. But let's see how the full game goes, but anything is better than NISA. XSEED was also kind of decent
