Transformers Devastation (Platinum Games) boss videos on Facebook

I think the chosen graphical style will appeal the most to the fans who have fond memories of the 80's cartoon, but I could also see why others who don't would like it also. I've been wanting a cel shading Transformers game that mimics the original look for a long time now so Devastation really appeals to me.

I actually like the graphical style, but the environments are a bit too flat looking for my taste. That is more of a simple design decision (low effort in terms of designing the environments, probably budget/time related) than actual technical proficiency I feel. I just wish it all looked a bit more "organic" on that front. The action and bots/vehicles look ace though. And the color patterns are nice.

Would make for the most awesome DLC ever.

I'd so be like

Would pay so much money to have deceptacons playable too. The game looks good though, maybe one day my dream of transformers in the exvs engine will come true

lol why is Platinum Games not credited as being the developer on the box art?!

Is this like ghost writing but for games?

Probably on the back. It's still not common for a dev to put on the front of the box, especially if they're not famous or don't belong to a publisher. Even From Software is neglected to the back, despite their games selling millions nowadays with great critical acclaim.

Actually, MGR is the only time they've gotten cover credit in a game off the top of my head.

Which is kind of hilarious in retrospect considering this year's shenanigans.

Also Soundwave concept art!

We got our copies in today, and they are on the back.

But yeah, only the most financially successful developers get face time on the front, and even that's not a guarantee if the corporate culture isn't big on that, like in the case of Rockstar.

Where are you from?
Hoping my usual shop gets it tomorrow XP

It's just so weird!

I hope this game sells a fuckton of copies across all platforms. Then Activision might see reason to give Platinum Games the greenlight to begin work on a larger, more ambitious game built for current-gen only. Longer campaign. Multiplayer 5 vs 5 combiner battles, wide range of playable Autobots & Decepticons, etc. -- I'd also love a game scenario based on Scramble City.

Transformers Devastation cannot simply be a one off project and done.

They're saving that for the next High Moon sequel, of course. They need to have that to match the tone of the IDW stuff, while this exists to match the classic cartoon's tone, and they'll compliment each other.

I know in my heart that this happening, because High Moon is totally fine and not a shuttered out map pack factory.

.

but who knows when that will come. has development even started?

i just think mp would have extended the life of devastation.

but guess it wasnt meant to be

Bayonetta 2 Multiplayer was amazing. Only issue was no vs mode. It was so good, multiple characters, so many verses, Boss fights etc. "betting" system where you wager halos on increased difficulty.

It was SO GOOD. More action games should have something like that and the net code was really good too! I don't remember a laggy game ever.

Was a G1 fan, and I'm very intrigued by this, but definitely want to see some reviews before release. Forza Bundle + Wheel/Pedals + Wheel Stand Pro + upcoming Halo 5 and Elite controller is really putting a hurting on my bank account.

But it's Transformers! It would sell gangbusters on name alone, cause of the movies.

The curse really would be true if this game doesn't sell well.

I want to believe this is true, but when I look around on the game's Facebook, Steam forums, and various threads for the game all over the internet, including here, I see a lot of people who don't care for Platinum Games making comments about how the game looks crappy, there's no multiplayer, there are no playable Decepticons, too much melee, beatemups suck, where is High Moon, etc. :(

Makes me really sad. :(

Yup. I never thought the Michael Bay movies were that popular...

It's a shame, I hope it sells more than their usual stuff, but it's not gritty and it's not a shooter and it doesn't have quantity over quality in its content, so I kinda doubt it.

It's true...kids want to shoot things, not beat up stuff, it's not the 16-bit days anymore. :(

Now the movies are all about shooting and giving peoples faces to optimus prime.

I blame Duckroll

With all the tmnt references in MGR and Activision having the publishing rights for tmnt games, the chances seem quite high for this to happen.

This is true. My issue stems from the chances that it'd be like Korra in tone and style. If the gameplay is classic Platinum I'll still pick it up but a true TMNT with Kevin Eastman's blessing and a more grittier style and Platinum gameplay and set pieces would be something to behold.

To be fair..... Starscream is the best :'(

Regardless of Platinum's involvement, how much mainstream appeal does this game really have? Obviously Transformers are Transformers, but I think leaning on nostalgia might actually hurt it (despite it making for a far superior product)

The visuals are basically blowing the minds of those who grew up loving the original series in the 80's, and then the gameplay is for fans of character action (specifically, Platinum's take on it). Seems like the real targeted audience would be relatively small, despite the big name

Well, if we really want to use Amazon as an sales indicator, currently on Amazon.com

PS4 - 444th
One - 1,171st
PS3- 2,586th
360 - 3,423rd

The game is out next week.

So, yeah. Currently, it seems the only SKU which could sell anything is the PS4 version of the game, and even then, it's very, very low. Hopefully, it hugely increases in the next days (it's not unusual for games to climb Amazon rankings substantially right before the release).

A DLC addon for the main campaign that gives us a selection of five playable Decepticons, replaces the enemies with Autobots, and with the necessary adjustments to the cutscenes to reflect that you're playing on the opposite side, could be a really great addition to the game. I would pay money for that. Soundwave could have been such a great character to play as if they mixed in combat moves involving Laserbeak, Ravage and Rumble, etc. I'm setting myself up for disappointment thinking about this. :(

Me too man, me too. :/

I really do hope people gobble this up. P* needs to add those in.

Well, Metal Gear Rising had some DLC where you could play as Blade Wolf and Sam in mini-campaigns. So... there's hope right?

150?! That's crazy, I'll have to assume a bunch of them are just reskins and stuff

I think a bunch of them might be higher level weapons of the same type. They mentioned that each weapon has a quality level or something, so there's probably a lot of padding lol.

Yup. I never thought the Michael Bay movies were that popular...

You didn't think a series of movies that, until this year, had two of its four installments in the top 10 box office hits of all time, both of which grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, were popular?

I mean they're terrible movies, but they're some of the biggest blockbuster hits ever made.

It saddens me as well the lack of interest in this game overall. It was my favorite surprise out of E3, the sort of game I didn't know I was dying for and that rarely happens. I hope it doesn't dissuade a Platinum Spider-Man game being made if that actually is in the cards (the director of this said he wanted to make a Spiderverse game).
