Transformers |OT| Transform and roll out...

I'm in the minority but I love the RiD15 figures

I'm also holding out for more BW releases aside from Primal and Meg's. I'm hoping everyone in the banner at the recent toy show Takara was at gets a release in some way

The MP line has only grown in popularity. If there was profit in doing an MP Megs primarily for the asian market for the original, there is profit in it now. I don't see how SS being a fan poll choice changes the fact that Takara can do a mold specifically for the asian market. Megatron is certainly as popular or more than Star Saber. He will 100% be made. Takara isn't giving that up.

I think you're just seeing what you want to see. In ten years, the only MP mold that didn't make it to the US (or at least get announced for the US, in the case of the Lambo mold...any day, Hasbro) was Megatron. When the achingly slow Hasbro MP gears finish cranking the 2014-2015 MP releases into the US release schedule, I'm willing to bet only Star Saber will be unreleased in the US of that lot, because the character has zero history in the US. Clearly there is a priority placed on the MP molds being internationally viable. Given this, I do not believe another MP Megatron will happen. There's no reason for them to do it when they could make literally any other character and have quadruple the market reach. Plus the fandom that really wants a good MP Megs has already bought Apollyon or is looking closely at that new upcoming one. It really doesn't make sense to roll those dice if you're Takara. I expect Galvatron will be their Destron leader for the line and that'll be that.

Holy shit at that "Rumble", it might be the most half-assed redeco I've seen in years. At the very least give him and Frenzy a remolded head!

The physical ones shown at Toy Fair did have proper Rumble/Frenzy heads. I guess the CG preview maker was lazy/didn't know whose head was whose.

There where rumors of Bumblebee.

We are also supposed to get Sideswipe(it was supposed to be out this year I think?). Unless that was meant to be for Hasbro Asia.

I thought Hasbro couldn't get or couldn't be bothered to get the Lamborghini license. Personally speaking I'm afraid if Sideswipe comes out it'll be another shelf warmer. It seems like those who wanted him got him and you can still easily get a decent boot of him for less than $30.

I also heard the VW license is a no go until they get their issues ironed out.

Saw the 4th movie a couple of days ago. Started OK, but man that was painful to watch at the end. :(

I was pleasantly surprised, and thought it was only second to Dark of the Moon, but I'm one of the few people that think the Bayformers are just as good as any other series in the franchise.

1>3>4>2 for my money.

I'd probably swap 1&3 (although they are close), and 4&2 (So 3>1>2>4).

I just rewatched 4 a week ago; both it and 3 have a problem with way too much extended action in the middle-late portion. They could have easily cut 45 minutes out of each movie and ended up with better products. Age of Extinction has some cool stuff in it (Galvatron, Lockdown), but also a lot of really underbaked stuff (Transformium, Dinobots, and I guess Galvatron and Lockdown again?).

1 is almost a decent summer action flick if you did some chopping here and there. 2, 3, and 4 are all putrid garbage, but in unique ways. It's hard to pick an order, really. I guess 3 is probably the least terrible, in that it has an actual plot and a relatively well-paced story, even though Prime lets Chicago die to prove a point. 2 is incoherent nonsense and might as well just be Bay laughing and flipping the audience off for two hours, but that's partly due to the writer's strike at the time. 4 fully embraces Prime's psychotic portrayal in the other sequels, applies it to the other Autobots as well, and runs with it; does nothing with one of the coolest gimmicks in the franchise's history (Dinobots); and has a five minute extended statutory rape joke. I dunno if 4 is the worst of the four, but it definitely makes me feel the most like a robot peed on me.

Ya'll are silly. All of the live-action films are terrible, and trying to discern which is the least terrible by conventional movie standards is a little pointless, IMO. It's like trying to figure out who's shit stinks less.

Unpopular opinion time:

The dumber and more over the top these movies get, the more entertaining they become. TF4 is fucking hysterical with amazing lines like "my face is my warrant," all the blatant and shameless product placement, the slow zoom-in of TJ Miller's charred corpse in an almost pornographic fashion, getting Ken Watanabe to speak in Haiku, the John Goodman "fat ballerina," the random Chinese guy in the elevator that obviously knows kung-fu, psychotic movie Prime that says he's going to kill a human, and then fucking does it. It's offensive, it's exploitative, so, so stupid, and I have no desire to ever watch it again, but it was pretty entertaining. By comparison, TF1 is still stupid, but also so tame, it's just boring.

As long as the current iteration of the movie franchise exists, I can only hope that they keep trying to one-up the stupidity of the last one.

Well, thanks, I was starting to think I was the only one with this opinion. I've only watched the first one, and it repulsed me so much that I can't imagine how the others are, considering the general consensus among my friends that it was in fact the best one (or even "the good one". It was like watching my childhood being kicked in the balls over and over. More of that? No thanks, I'm good.

I recently picked up a Kids Logic Megatron because it was on sale, and I have to say, its pretty impressive.

I also like that the his arm cannon actually lights up and spins like he is getting ready to fire it at someone..

There are some minor issues I have with it and that is every piece armor can be removed and because of that, some pieces can fall off if you touch them the wrong way... the biggest culprit of this is his helmet. Not sure why that will not stay on...

If I had to pay full price for this ($140), I would probably have passed, but for $74.99, it was a good buy!

I normally wouldn't care about non-transforming Transformers, but the lighting effects make that line awfully tempting.

I'm digging CW Sky Lynx, and I also dig how he looks in torso mode. I'm NOT digging his complete combination though, it just feels, off?

Unfortunately the only torso mold that has felt "right" in combined mode to me is Hotspot/Onslaught. Both Optimus/Motormaster and Silverbolt/Cyclonus/Sky Lynx have short, broad torsos with chicken hips and long, thin legs.

I agree, and those two in combined mode are by far the best. Especially Bruticus.

I'm glad I ordered a Japanese Bruticus, it seems to be one of the best ones from CW.

Bruticus is like a Best of combiner wars mold. I don't have the Bruticus mold himself, I'm waiting for the Japanese release like you, but I have the original versions of all his pieces. They pretty much are all the best parts of their respective groups. He's going to be great.

With the PE kit applied, Motormaster is the best torso. Hot Spot/Onslaught is pretty good in vanilla mode, and the wraparound trick with the chestplate is great, but both my Hot Spot and Onslaught sort of sag forward a bit in torso mode and it makes the robot look dejected. The PE feet help this a bit, though. Really I don't think any of the CW torsos are all that great without some tweaking and add-ons.

Even with the PE, I still dislike how Menasor's chest looks. About Defensor sagging forward, I'm assuming rotating the hips a notch backwards make it look worse? Mine is separated right now so I can't check.

Yeah, clicking them back another notch makes it so he's leaning back weird. All the CW torso hips needed twice as many notch positions on their hip ratchets as they have. The running change in Motormaster/Optimus makes it better, but still not great. Yeah, they're just $25 mass market toys as compared to the $100+ third party equivalents, but you'd think a bit more care could have gone into that one aspect.

I asked around at TFW but didn't get a good answer. Does anyone here know of a place that lists release dates for Transformers? I follow the news only now and then, but there are a few figures I'd like to keep track of.

If not, does anyone know when the Powermaster OP and Blurr from Titans Return will be released?

They're both in the first wave of Titans Return, so they should be pretty easy to find when the line actually starts. Closest thing we have to a date is mid-2016, so it'll probably be a couple months still.

Kids Logic Ultra Magnus arrived today.

So many awesome details, the color scheme is wonderful and I love the heft.....and that is where the good stops.

Sadly Ill probably never buy from them again with its issues.

Paint chips on the head (on the white so its brutal), Plasma Rifle doesnt fit together and whats worst is one of the eyes is burnt out.

Yikes! Time to send it back for a replacement or refund...

Also, it seems that Tizoc got banned? :/ Hopefully it's a short one.

I really like the Kids Logic Megatron I got, but I doubt I would buy from them again. Its so fragile... you try to pop off his fists and the armor on his legs keep coming off. You try to put a fist on, and the armor on his arms keep popping off. I finally got him the way I want, and I have him propped up on his base and I am not touching him.

It's a shame, because their Devastator looks great, but I am not spending $140 for it to fall apart in my hands.

Yeah Magnus is exactly the same.

Ball joints are tight which is good but the connections for the armor on the legs are so soft that just a tap and the leg armors are undone.

Its not all bad and if I can get a replacement for at least the eyes ill be satisfied as this type of Magnus is so uncommon, but overall my desire to buy their LE Skywarp to pose with him is now gone.

The only reason I even picked up Megatron was because he was on sale for $75. No way I was going to spend full price on him...

I think I am going to stick with my MP collection from now on.

How is it these third party figures can exist without getting the shit sued out of them?

IP laws are different in China where most design and manufacturing takes place. Also, they are small potatoes and have limited sales due to being a niche product. No real incentive to go after them.

The short answer is: Nobody really knows. Hasbro sometimes gives a quarter target window, but the usual way to find out a wave is coming out is that people start seeing them pop up in reviewers' hands and at lucky early stores. Wave 6 is just now hitting widespread saturation, so if I had to guess, you might see Blurr in Wave 7 (the first Titans Return wave) by April, maybe earlier depending on where you are. Powermaster Optimus should ship alongside Leader Blaster, and I'd expect that around the same time or maybe a bit later.

How is it these third party figures can exist without getting the shit sued out of them?

Hasbro/Takara just don't consider it worth the effort. For the most part, the third party stuff just isn't competing for the same market as the official stuff. A Hasbro Stunticon will cost you $17, while a third party Stunticon will cost you around $100. At this point Hasbro seems to consider it unlikely that someone who buys a third party version of a character will not also buy the mass market official product, and so far they've been proven correct, as collectors have bought up tons of Combiner Wars product that they already had third party versions of.

The third parties are also smart enough to avoid making stuff that would directly compete with the Masterpiece line, which can be seen in the case of a couple of cancelled third party Soundwaves that got killed when Takara announced their MP Soundwave, the Quakewave/Quakeblast figure that is being retired for good when Takara's MP Shockwave is released in March, and the likelihood that FansToys is going to cancel their MP Hot Rod toy now that Takara has beaten them to the punch. Hasbro tends to ban the sale and trading of third party product at conventions they directly sponsor (such as BotCon), but that's about as far as they go in terms of having any real opinion or opposing action to them. Maybe they also realize that shutting the third party scene down wouldn't do them any favors with the adult fans, who are an increasingly large part of their market these days as kids 7-17 continue to ignore physical toys in favor of videogames.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I have an old masterpiece Rodimus Prime from Toys R us. Is it worth getting the masterpiece hotrod? They look damn similar.

The new one is way, way better. MP Rodimus Prime is probably the worst MP of all time.

Yeah I just saw a comparison video and it was bad.

Okay, so quick question again. I see Masterpiece figures from Toys R Us like Starscream and such, how do those compare to the figures from Japan? I'm looking to get Skywarp and I see a version from Walmart and one from Japan. Are these the same figures or completely different?

I think the Walmart Skywarp is the first release of MP Seekers mold(MP-3). The mold in jet mold looks really awesome in my opinion, the bot mode doesn't look bad, just not as good as the MP-11 mainly because of the hip guard things(http://www.seibertron.com/images/toys/files/43/r_mp-11-starscream-221.jpg) but otherwise I think the MP-3 mold looks cool. No idea how the joints and stuff are tho.

As for MP Starscream, the recent TRU release has shitty plastic, and doesn't come with the King Starscream accessories, if you like that.

At the end of the day, it comes down to which you think looks better and how much you want to pay. I'd look up comparison pics.

Except the recent TRU Starscream. It was worth the $60 or whatever if you don't want to pay $200+, but at the rates its going for now its worth it to buy the Takara version because of the sub-par plastic. Definitely not MP-grade in my opinion.

I dunno, I have both the Takara and the Hasbro MP-11 Starscream, Thundercracker, Skywarp, and Sunstorm, and I don't notice a real difference between them in plastic quality.
