Therapy session this Wednesday. I'm oddly nervous about it. I say oddly because I saw this doctor for about 8 months last year. I guess in some way it feels like I'm starting over at teh beginning again. Don't get me wrong though, I am super stoked. :D

Has anyone seen the movie XXY? They showed it in my anthropology class on Thursday. I know hermaphrodites are not the same thing, but in the movie the themes are very similar: social acceptance, confusion, there are more than 2 genders and sexual identities. And its more than just from the hermaphrodites POV, but from her family, friends/lovers.

BTW the movie is Argentinian (from 2007) so for most of you you would have to read subtitles.

@Lexi Deal!

@tehAinsley I saw psychs for 8 months, was approved for hormones, and then pulled out. I went back 5 months later thinking I'd have to start again but the psych said that by coming back after a long absence I'd proven to them and to myself that it was something I can't live with and that I've been thinking about it over a long period of time and the urge is still persistent, so it went a bit faster the second time - took 4 months to get my script. You'll be fine!

I hoped so much I would be XXY when I started looking into why I had the feelings I did - it would have explained everything. Just XY though.

But wouldn't you have both organs then? So it would have been obvious even though there are variations of that in xxy people.

No some xxy people just have normal external bodies and have something weird about their insides, like having an ovary or an undescended testicle where there shouldn't be anything. Some people just have the chromosomes with no confused sexual characteristics. There's different types.

Ah I see, like the female Olympic runner that turned out to have internal testes and thus had higher testosterone levels.

I was going to start a new topic but maybe this belongs in here:

http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-sportswriter27-2010mar27-2,0,7049260.htmlstory

I'm a Lakers fan so I read the LA Times sports section a lot and remember the article where he came out as Christine. He didn't cover the NBA much so I never noticed that he went back to his original name. Apparently he was tired of getting made fun of and got depressed. I hope none of transGAF is in a similar situation :(

:(

After reading the article it seemed as if it were just as much the stresses of celebrity as it was the transition. Doing both at the same time.. juggling marriage stuff.. being thrust into the spotlight by people enamored with the idea of a spokeswoman rather than if it were good for her.. too much pressure. Sad.

That was one sad article. Like, whoa. My heart goes out to her family and friends.

It brought up a lot of old doubt in me that I thought I'd taken care of. At the same time though it also reinforced my determination to see this through. Dualism is a bitch!

That article was a real shock to me. I first heard about this person when they de-transitioned through commentry in trans blogs. People were so upset and angry with her for de-transitioning in the public eye and somehow de-legitimizing transsexuals in the process. I remember thinking they were a bunch of bitches for being so heartless about her struggle and for not respecting her right to do what was right for her regardless of public perception. It's awful to hear that she committed suicide, and a reminder to everyone that we all need support through this, it is an incredibly hard thing to deal with.

The following quotes from the article really spoke to me:

Paul Oberjuerge, then a sports columnist for the San Bernardino Sun, was in the crowd. "I hate to be judgmental about these things, but Christine is not an attractive woman," he wrote on his blog, noting that Daniels had a prominent Adam's apple and stood more than 6 feet tall in wobbly heels. "It seemed almost as if we're all going along with someone's dress-up role playing. . . . "

"I told her, 'No, you're beautiful,' " Maxwell said. "I was trying to say all the right things. How do you tell someone who looks like a man, 'You're a beautiful woman'? I don't know."

The profile writer, Evan Wright, said that to write an honest article, he would have to observe that the sportswriter did not pass as a woman. "I thought, 'Bottom line, she has a fantasy conception. She doesn't accept who she is.' "

Biggest. Fear.

And the quote about everyone in the trans community wanting a piece of her I also related to. Sometimes the community seems almost vampiric towards those who seem successful.

Sorry for starting the tranny surprise thing. If it's any consolation, the only reason I picked that site is because I thought the title was classier then my original pick. Please don't hate me.

I always wanted to ask this:

Have you ever found a person who was proud to be a "tranny", "shemale"' "dickgirl" and all those? You know she wants to be a woman with a penis and identifies herself as a "shemale", are there any of those out there?

That was YOU?

What is the story behind it? I don't even know.

@wRATH2x I know of one person like that. She ended up marrying a female-to-male transsexual (who is HOT).

I doubt it would be used. I don't know how things would work in the bedroom or what each of them would like/be comfortable with, but if two people love each other they'll find a way to express it.

Yeah I don't mean it in an offensive way, I just thought it would be weird.

For someone who doesn't mean to be offensive you're awfully good at it. They're just two people who love each other, not porn objects. Keep in mind I KNOW the people you're role-playing here, and they're not like that at all. Grow up.
OK sorry I'll edit that.

So its not even Easter and ive burned myself on Cadbury eggs. ive had practically one a day for two weeks now.. just went up to the corner store to get a drink and something to eat.. and i just couldnt do the eggs any more. i got nachos (with the most horriblest cheese ever.. has like zero flavor but made a good hand warmer on the walk back) instead. The cycle is now broken.

Now its time for me to go back and try to get Lord Ochu to drop that freaking HP Sphere.. grrrrrrrrrrr!

Tell me about it. I did some grocery shopping earlier and managed to not buy any chocolate! I was so proud. The supermarkets seem to think Easter is a three month long event, celebrating the resurrection of Chocjesus. I'll be glad when it's over and I'm not constantly tempted by 50 aisles of Easter themed chocolate.

Speaking of Easter.. i resolve to watch Daffy Ducks Easter Special this year. Especially the chocolate factory one :lol <3 Daffy and Speedy

Huh, I actually went and bought the Easter eggs I'm going to be giving my family today.

In fact spent the entire day shopping. Mom and I had a girl's day out just the two of us. We went to a nearby city and coffeed, lunched and shopped ourselves into a happy stupor. Can I get a bit livejournalish here or is this not appropriate do you think?

i dont mind about livejournalish stuffs. Beats just sitting around and waiting for big trans issues in the news to come up for discussion :)

And OMG this boss.. ive beat him like 30 times and still not what i want yet :(

Oh and by the way, am I the only person in recorded history to have done this? For I think maybe the past 18 months... or more, I don't even know how or when it happened, I thought I was a year older than I actually was. All this time I've been telling so many people I am 27, when I am actually 26. Did this happen when I was 25 thinking I was 26?

It's kinda cool though, it's like getting a year back!

Um, I feel silly doing this, but someone PM'd me asking about chatting on MSN or AIM a week or two ago, and we said we would after I moved, but I accidentally deleted that message and have forgotten who it was! I'm sitting on AIM and MSN right now so if you still want to chat send me a PM. =)

Sooo I've been playing TF2, Torchlight, Fallout 3 and Plants vs Zombies on the side.

Morrowind and Final Fantasy X at the moment. And sometimes Might and Magic VI when i get the urge to document stuff. i was kind of shocked that there wasnt a compilation of all the faces in MM6 so ive been going around and taking screenshots. i figure im about halfway through but theres no way to be certain. My work thus far.

@Lexi: <333333333 Fallout 3 and Torchwood. Excellent stuff. I still need to finish picking up some achievements in Fallout 3, only missing 6 I believe. The karma ones. It's just so hard to play evil vault dweller for me. :lol

@Wendi: Thats ALOT of faces. Are all those of characters that you actually control at some point or another? Or just NPCs and such?

I've been playing through the Splinter Cell series on PC while I wait for Conviction. I played the first game on Xbox when it first released but never got around to buying the others. Sneaky goodness! I'm probably going to get back into Mass Effect 2 and finish my second play-through with my female Shepard and check out the dlc. :D

NPCs. Some are used more than once. Some are unique to certain towns. Trying to make sure i dont get duplicate faces became really hard once i hit the 100 mark.. at 200+ now i get headaches really quick :lol

Never got into Splinter Cell. Was always an MGS kid. Mayhap I should check them out sometime.

I really need to finish my second ME2 playthrough as well. Just keep getting distracted by newer games! XD

@Wendi: I can definately see how that would induce the headaches! :lol

Try as I might I cannot play an evil character in any game. I tried to do an evil playthrough of Fallout 3 where I destroy Megaton, and as soon as I saw that explosion I deleted my save game and started again :lol

Holy shit I love you. The Might & Magic series (6 in particular!) gets no appreciation here.

I still have my cloth map of Enroth somewhere...
Yea i <3 the MM series. Its combat is pretty broken, the quests are pretty horrible, dialogue is non-existent.. yet, the games have a charm about them. Everything is so colorful and vibrant. The different places and people feel distinct. And i love the animations of both the enemies and the places you go. Thats probably my next project.. taking the guilds, shops, taverns, etc. and making animated gifs of them. Some of them are hilarious like there is one alchemist shop with a HUGE spider hiding behind the lady that peeks out every so often :lol

These arent from VI but from VII and VIII.. the feel is the same. From Ancient Home of the Dragon.. theres a lot of stuff there but a) none of the backgrounds are animated and b) none of them are from MM6.

Hopefully i can get the technical stuff worked out so i can see Skeletons playing chess :lol

I tried to get into Killzone 2 again just before I moved but I'm stuck at this point where you're trapped on a rooftop being attacked by some sort of helicopter/hovering thing and you have to shoot these power coils as it flies near them to stun it so you can then hit it with a rocket launcher. I just can't get past it. It's been too long since I last played to jump into a difficult section and god the movement and aiming is cumbersome in that game. I really wanted to like it (it was one of the reasons I got a PS3) but everytime I play it I just resent it.

I haven't played anything in the last week, my consoles and TV are in storage, but I'll be getting them back soon. I'm just going to be playing around with older unfinished games for a while like Wario Shake while I wait for things on PSN and Xbox Live like Afterburner Climax.

Never play RPGs. It's just not my thing. It makes handheld gaming pretty uninspiring.

Cetra

Yeah I'd always heard mixed things about Killzone in general. So I never really gave it a shot. I just stick with Halo and Call of Duty for shooters... Oh and Chronicles of Riddick! Escape from Butcher Bay is just way too much fun.

Afterburner Climax is looking super sweet. I'll definitely be picking that up.

No love for the RPG, eh? *heart breaks* :lol

Another question, is it weird if a guy wanted a relationship with a transgirl and only a trans girl? Shunning all born girls aside?

I've been lurking this weird arab sex site and someone wrote something like "I want to marry a shemale *his e-mail here*"

And yeah he said "shemale", that wasn't from me.

I *want* to like RPGs, I like the characters and stories and ideas behind them, I just... get bored with the fighting. And I hate mazes, I get lost in a paper bag.
