Thanks! I still haven't read back yet. I've been moving into our new house that we closed on last Thursday. Each of my days has been spent moving crap, cleaning up the apartment, and arranging/building furniture for the house. Ugh I know just where you're at. I'm still unpacking and orting and I went from super fast ADSL-2 right on top of the phone exchange to bog-slow broken ADSL in the middle of nowhere. It takes me 3 hours to upload a 90MB file and browsing the net while I wait so SOOOOOOO slow.

@tehAinsley I forgot how draining those first appointments are. Are you OK?

Yeah, I'm okay. Just really drained. The upshot is, I slept for 12 hours last night when before I was sleeping like 4 hours at the most. So in that regard, it really helped me thinks. XD

Oh yeah, I have a GAF account. Hi everybody, I'm back! Back from where, you might ask. Well I'll tell you. Nowhere! I am just a horribly inconsistent person and a terrible internet friend.

So, please forgive my undue absence, especially if you were waiting on pins and needles to find out if I actually stabbed myself… with a needle.

Ok, I think I died a little inside after I typed that out, but I'm not going to change it so you can join in on some of my shame.

Well I did. It went really well too, except for the hour of sitting around in the waiting room. Also, I kind of hesitated the first time and just pricked myself with the needle (don't do that), but I just went for it the second time. So yeah, the doctor decided that we should wait two more weeks on the antiandrogens just to make sure I don't have any side-effects with the estradiol. I'll probably talk to him tomorrow or on Monday to get that worked out, and I get to do it all again in a few days.

Anything else new going on that I can't read about by just scrolling up?

An aunt and cousin just visited out of the blue. I was not ready for that. Wish I had known so that I would have looked better. =( It was the same aunt who spoke to me on the phone the other day and who mistook me for my mom for 5 minutes before I set her straight. She knew I was trans (all my relatives do) but had never seen me in girl mode before.

Nothing was said. I felt awkward. This is going to happen a lot while I am here, I can tell.

Going out shopping with mom again on Monday. Thinking about getting a PS2 - I never owned one and they are just $88 now.

Yeah this is true. It's just kinda infuriating seeing how my grandmother's brother is gay. As such, he should know better than to out someone like that. Just frustrating, really.

@tehAinsley I find gay guys (especially older ones) are often the *least* understanding. A lot of them seem to think being transgender means you're an attention-seeking drag queen or that you think you're doing it to get to have sex with straight guys.

A transsexual is someone who has a woman's brain and a guy's genetics, or vice versa, and who takes medical steps to correct their hormone make-up and appearance to live their life as the gender their brain tells them they are. The condition is diagnosed by a psychiatrist and treated by doctors, endocrinologists, and plastic surgeons.

Transgender is an umbrella term that includes transsexuals, but which can also refer to anyone with any kind of cross-gender identity. It can include cross-dressers (who do not feel they are women but get a kick out of dressing as women), people who feel they are totally androgynous (neither sex), etc.

Some people like me say "transgender" instead of "transsexual" to avoid having that "sexual" word in the label, which makes people mistakenly think that you change gender for some reason that's got to do with sexual pleasure.

I think I went over this somewhere waaaaaay back in the thread and talked about different subcategories of transgender and everything if you want to go searching for it. I miss the "Search" and "Search This Thread" and "Find Posts By This User" tools. Google's not the same.

I just found out today that most of my extended family knows now too, but I gave the approval beforehand. I haven't actually talked to any of them myself yet though, so I wonder how that will go. i know this is extremely old now, but i discovered this tab among the 50+ i had open, so...

I've slept on it, and I think what I was down about last night was that this wonderful, organic, exciting way of meeting someone - just feeling a spark with a stranger and letting it all unfold - is all borked up because I have to bring this deal-breaking fact about myself into the conversation and it just totally throws most guys to be suddenly confronted with it. Looking back I could have just given that guy my mobile and told him over the phone later (and 99.99% most likely have met an awkward silence followed by a rapid "gotta go"). I guess the situation just never occurred before and I wasn't ready.

Anyway he was probably an ex-con serial rapist. I'm better off.

Personally, i think you do both yourself and the person you're interested in a disservice by not letting them know somehow that you're interested. Sure, the vast majority of guys will not be interested in dating you. But there's always a chance that they will, and even if things don't lead to marriage, at least you've brought to them the reality of TGs beyond whatever they may have seen in porn or on Jerry Springer. Or the simple fact that TGs exist.

i met a wonderful woman that was in a situation which would've been a dealbreaker for 99.99% of potential dates. It just so happened that i was knowledgeable about her situation and didn't mind it. We dated for a few months until i ended it for other reasons, but i'm glad i got to know her.

Maybe i'm being a bit too idealistic here, but i say as long as you feel safe in telling the person, go for it.

Stubble is sexy so long as you don't kiss someone, my girlfriend has extremely delicate skin and I need to shave constantly either way in order to not leave red marks :lol

Really? Well you hide it well since there's no hair visible on your face at all in your pictures. I've had this permanent shadow on my face since I was 13.
