:lol at that many people's first thought being President.

My mom voted for trump and now regrets her vote cause she has diabetes and doesn't want to get screwed over by trump care and says she'll vote Democrat in 2018

They'll turn on Trump sooner rather than later, but I'm betting the Democrats don't want him ousted. Trump being replaced my Pence would mean they have an actual politician to contend with, one that won't make for easy soundbites or stories about tantrums. Trump is easy pickings, Pence is not.

But then again, this is the Democrats. Even at +20 they would probably find a way to screw up.

This is why I think the Republicans will eventually turn on Trump. They're going to turn on Trump in order to save face.

I don't believe they'll do it until the mass wave actually happens. If 2018 happens and they somehow barely hold on to a slight majority in the house and senate then I can see them starting to move to try to survive 2020.

Except Pence is boring, the base isn't going to get excited for Pence.

I want to say it is like "yes, technically he is president but..."

I know, it's the same as if they answered with "alive, man, human, breathing, has skin, is old"

Just baffling, but not too baffling, when that many people voted for him.

The other numbers in this are pretty wild:

  • Voters disapprove 65 - 31 percent of the way Trump talks about the media.
  • And voters trust the media more than Trump 57 - 31 percent to tell the truth about important issues; Though voters disapprove 58 - 37 percent of the way the news media covers Trump. (Interesting)
  • Trump's first 100 days in office have been "mainly a failure," 58 percent of voters say, while 38 percent say they have been "mainly a success."
  • By a 54 - 38 percent margin, American voters want the Democratic Party to win control of the U.S. House of Representatives. This is the widest margin ever measured for this question in a Quinnipiac University poll. (Damn)

"Trying"

Don't worry guys he's trying his best

Only because it was used in a sentence with other words... "Trying to be narcisistic," "Trying to be disgusting"

I'm glad to see some of my regular word associations on here... I must call him a "clown" or "an idiot" more than anything else.

Ask again in a week, that number will go up.

Having the public associate you with Nixon is a guaranteed hit on your approval rating.

This is from before he fired Comey. The House fumbling healthcare is the reason for the slump

Don't forget, Pence is the same dumbass who said that smoking isn't unhealthy during a debate last year.

I kind of also subscribe to the theory that Trump sort of negated his bad press by having TOO MANY dumb sound bites that people legitimately stop caring at some point. Pence is certainly capable of saying plenty of dumb shit.

Also keep in mind, Pence couldn't have even won another election in Indiana again, he was shit. His political career was dead and that's why the GOP pushed him into accepting the VP, they didn't want to sacrifice someone with a future.

I want to meet the people who answered "president" and "American." Made me think of Matt Damon in Team America. >_>

We'll see how the midterms turn out. But it's not news that he's unpopular. He was always unpopular. The problem is that he will always have a base of support no matter what he does.

These numbers are garbage for a president not even 6 months into his term. The idea that it's no big deal because he's at his minimum doesn't really work when he's hit his minimum 4 months into his presidency. This is supposed to be the time when his ratings are the highest.

He's also dragging the entire GOP down with him.

Maybe it's a southern thing, but "trying" to me has always been synonymous to "trying my patience":

try one's patience. Put one's tolerance to a severe test, cause one to be annoyed, as in Putting these parts together really tries my patience, or Her constant lateness tries our patience. This idiom uses try in the sense of “test,” a usage dating from about 1300.

The congressional GOP that have been supporting and holding Trump up, now staring down a +16 D about a year out from midterms.

+16 for Dems crushes all gerrymandering advantage.
As I understand it, gerrymandering reorganizes districts to in order to trade wider margins in a few districts for more districts with narrower margins. So gerrymandering increases the odds of a Dem takeover when the polling numbers are this dismal for the GOP.

Seems like everyone is repeating the mistakes of the past election. National polls don't matter. Polls in the individual states and districts that are voting on vulnerable seats are the only ones of any use.

Seems like a lot of people still don't understand politics either. A generic ballot +16 D would be a wave election.

I don't disrespect those who vote for the GOP at all, but I swear to god if the cast of characters is the same in 2018...

My mind can sort of imagine about 10% of the country being crazy/hateful/ignorant enough to approve of this mess. I still don't understand how it's as high as it is.

I understand that historically for this amount of time into a presidency it's low, but nothing about this presidency falls remotely within norms. Thinking back to the comparatively dignified Bush administration and remembering how I couldn't believe it could ever be that bad...

Indoctrination, environment, media selection, and white privilege

It can't fall below 30% due to the broken party over country mentality of most republicans, but once it's consistently within that margin across most pollsters he is fucked.
Meaning what exactly? Can legal action be taken to get him out of office at that point?

I'm convinced his approval can only go up. Whoever approves of him now isn't budging. And things may normalize over the next several months.
