A man wearing a Donald Trump shirt and carrying a weapon stood outside a voting location in Loudoun County, Virginia, on Friday. Authorities in the nation’s richest county are apparently OK with that.

Erika Cotti encountered the man when she went to vote at the county’s registrar’s office, she told The Huffington Post. Virginia doesn’t have early voting per se, but voters can cast in-person absentee ballots for a host of reasons, like if they’re going to be out of the county or city on Election Day.

“I had my 9-year-old son with me. I felt intimidated,” Cotti said. “And I had to explain to my 9-year-old why a man with a 357 magnum is standing outside the polling station.”

Cotti said the man offered her a Republican sample ballot, which she declined.

“He’s like, ‘Who are you going to vote for, crooked Hillary?’ And I was like, that’s really none of your business,” Cotti said, adding that the man was standing in the sidewalk outside of the office when they left and blocking their path.

Judy Brown, Loudoun County registrar, confirmed that the man was standing outside her office in Leesburg and handing out GOP literature.

“There is a gentleman standing outside the office with a holstered gun,” Brown told HuffPost. “According to law enforcement, because Virginia is open carry, he’s allowed to have it.”

Brown noted that the man was “being nice” to people, and that he appeared to respecting the observed 40-foot no-canvassing zone outside of the entrance.

“They said that there’s nothing they could do, that he was well within his rights to be carrying his weapon,” Brown said.

Brown said her office contacted the local Republican Party, which got the man to agree to pull his Trump shirt over the weapon so people couldn’t see it. “Hopefully nobody else will be concerned about him,” Brown said.

This is uncalled for, and that lawsuit the RNC has against them better fuckin' stick around because of this asshole's rhetoric.

Deplorable. How's that lawsuit going? Trump campaign and the RNC was expected to give a reply to what their message meant by watching polls right?

So glad I voted early. I'm afraid of Tue.

I'm really glad I live in a liberal city. I thought I could vote early tomorrow--nope--today was the last day.

Sounds like exactly the kind of fuckery The Donald has been supporting. I can't wait for the orange bastard to go away.

Dumb fucking 'neck, I'm sure.

In a thread about these types of people I had said, "I hope I see one of these people outside my polling place in Arlington." This is the next county over. I hope I do and I hope they ask me if I'm voting for "Crooked Hillary." It will be an amusing conversation.

im moving to loudoun county in 2.5 months....cant wait...

Loudon County is fine. I'm in Arlington and you bump into these kinds of people occasionally. Overall it's great though and they all vote blue.

Oh, that's good then. No one can see the gun anymore. Problem solved!

There's never been a more perfect visual metaphor for the Trump campaign...

Well... maybe a fecal-covered tire fire.

Isn't Arlington pretty liberal? A bunch of recent college grads and young professionals that are there for work stay in Arlington.

[No]VA don't spread you crazy to DC. I don't need the stress.

In terms of laws and potetional persuasion, Virginia's the type of place that created and then reinstated a Lee-Jackson Day to be held on Martin Luther King Day to honor the Civil War heroes.

I mean only to say that motherfuckers are tricky with some legal shit below the beltway, especially in regards to white money. A lot of people will be high fiving this fugging idiot who may or may not discharge in his pants. It sounds like a textbook definition of basic voter intimidation.

How fucking disgusting. There is no reason that piece of crap needed to be carrying a gun. It's clear as day why he is too.

I'm live in the county next to this, but its not that far away. I'm not too surprised this happened in Loudoun though.

I'll be voting at a local elementary school on Tuesday.

Trump told his supporters to watch over voting stations, so he's only following the orders of his leader. Why the gun, though, in what situation would that help things? Does he expect a robbery? Or does he want to shoot someone? I'm surprised voter intimidation is legal. Open carry is ridiculous.

Just asking questions.

Seriously, it's insane that we allow this behavior. We don't have Hillary voters showing up with guns at polling areas, and somehow, she's the crooked one.

We need to bring back Seinfeld and teach people about irony.

*sigh* I was just saying in the other thread that hopefully I wouldn't have to deal with these idiots here.

I have to vote in an elementary school, maybe that will lessen the chance I'll have to deal with these assholes. Probably not though.

Ferrum is full of crazies...

Sigh. Yet another one. Hopefully no voilence will erupt because of these people.
Its going to happen. White people doing this believe they can gun down people and get away with it, because they, well, they can.

All its going to take is someone standing up to them, and they'll shoot and claim they feared for their own saftey. A jury will let them off.

Police are mostly supporting trump too. So. Yeah only a matter of time.

40 feet isn't shit. It ought to be 100 feet at minimum. Yes it would more difficult to monitor, but when stuff like this is occurring, there needs to be some sort of change.

im actually going to ashburn which i think is far enough away.

You'll be fine.

Ashburn is close to Fairfax, more specifically Herndon and Reston. Its a very nice place overall. I lived in northern Virginia for 27 years (from birth until 27), first Arlington (until 20) and then Herndon (until 27), and its a lovely place. Yeah there are some idiots but what place doesn't have it?

Honestly, fear the traffic. And for the love of GOD do not try and drive through Tyson's Corner during the hours of like 2 pm to 8 pm.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is just the beginning:

This election will have the craziest shit going down. Get ready people.

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
I hope I don't encounter this... not sure I could resist walking by without saying something inflammatory to him/her. It's wrong, and stupid, but I cannot help myself sometimes.

Remember when Fox News was freaking out over "Obama's Black Panthers" doing this at polling stations a few years back?
