Let's propose a new law that costs hundreds of billions of dollars and has a minuscule benefit for the environment. No one could be against this unless you hate the environment, want the polar ice caps to melt, and club baby seals in your spare time.

'Won't someone please think of the GM and Ford and Toyota billion dollar car companies. It is so hard to innovate and eats into their profit'.

There is always someone like you that will cape for the companies. $200 billion over 12 years isn't much for the entire industry. That is the point of regulating something. You force them to adapt rather than drag their feet or take their sweet ass time.

First they came for the multinational corporations, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a not a multinational corporation.

Then they came for the white nationalists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a white nationalist..

Then they came for Milo, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a pedophile.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Eff America at this point. This is who they wanted (overall states), they live with the consequences. It's like the morons who voted for him cannot see the damage he will end up doing because hey he's deporting illegal immigrant fathers dropping kids off at school. Seems like they want LA to overtake Delhi and Mexico City and Beijing as most polluted in the world again. Rolling back clean water regulations. Wanting US made steel pipelines delivering crude oil all over through pristine lakes and forests. I guess the goal in making america great again was to make it so shitty no one wants to come or stay. It is why refugees are literally risking death and frostbite to escape Minnesota into Manitoba.

Dude, fuck right off with that bullshit attitude. ~2.87 million more people voted for HRC than Trump. The majority of us did not want this.

Guys, while the tail pipe regulations were an effort to force U.S. companies to inovate, it really wasn't doing all that much. This is not going to be the thing that ruins the environment, that ship has already sailed. I mean, how many of us have gold certified power supplies on our PC's? Off the shelf PC's are not that efficient in their power use. Feel all that heat coming off your gaming rig? Wasted energy. The beef you eat, more pollution to the atmosphere than cars. We have so far to go, and the markets have yet to create the incentive to make humans more efficient in power consumption, and most of us are not willing to give up what we love to make the difference needed to do so.

I'm just being real and rational about this.

Hey everyone look! It's whataboutism, been a while. Speak for yourself, and keep wearing that cape for billionaires hoping to get some scraps from their table one day. But always remember you'll be eating them off the floor.

It doesn't take much intelligence to know that this shows the intent of the administration's anti science and regulation values. It's not going to be gee oll golly this and nothing else. It will be gradual, as these things were created.

The thing that would make the most significant difference would be transitioning fully to a power grid running on a mixture of nuclear baseload power and renewables.

That 30 to 40 percent curbing of total greenhouse gas emissions would be enough over time to do drastically slow down climate change.

I have a cape? Sweet, now if only I was cool enough to rock it....
Are you ready to make the REAL sacrifices needed to save the world around us?

This is what showed you those intentions of the current administration? I don't think this was the thing that clued you on to them. We all take part in this fallacy, and both the baby steps forward AND backward are doing next to nothing. It's simple, history has showed us that humans don't do anything until it's killing us. Until then, we'll ALL take part in the destruction, not just the right. Have you given up beef? Do you drive a hybrid? How about this, don't use the central air in your house, just use energy efficient window units in the rooms that you are using. That's a simple thing most people can do that nobody does, because WE ALL DON'T GIVE A SHIT IN REALITY.

This, that would be a real difference. You know what, both the left AND the right are in the pocket of big corporatoins. That's why progress is so slow. Everything that is not progress is just empty rhetoric.

The coal rollers will be happy

I'm sad to have learned that this exists, but at least Trump's victory makes total sense to me now.

I get the impresssion Trump has asked for a list of everything Obama did and makes his decisions based on that. He does the opposite of everything on that list, no matter what.

I think this really is exactly what's happening. But Congress is doing it, too.

But you have to take into acccount all those special flowers who voted third party or didn't vote at all because " both candidates are the same" they are just as bad, worse in some ways. Sometimes a country is its leader and America overall has more shitty selfish people in it than not.

Well they need to go back to the drawing board. And keep trying until they get it right.
Also speaking for myself I have a platinum rated PSU, don't use my PC every day and hardly eat any beef or fish. Don't drive a car. We all have to do our part but we have to hold companies feet to the fire.

This must impress someone. Your edge. But certainly not anyone thinking critically.

Being green is expensive for most folks. Thus regulations to make things more common place. These things take time, just like the time it took to create these problems. Not instant gratification.

But this is wasted words... according to you, no one cares. So ah well.

"Oh hai, these rules are too troublesome. Can you just get rid of them so we can relax a bit? Kthx #FuckEnviroment" - some asshat.

On Feb. 21, a coalition of the 17 largest companies that sell cars in the United States sent two letters to Mr. Pruitt, asking him to revisit the tailpipe rules. They said it may be “the single most important decision the E.P.A. has made in recent history.”

Well with 17 companies, thats probably most of who sells cars here, including foreign brands. American companies can get away with this since no one outside America buys American cars. But all those foreign companies still have to sell their cars in other markets that still have strict emissions, so why should they care? They still have to improve their emissions eventually anyway for other markets.

It was nice that smog alerts had basically become a thing of the past in the area where I grew up. I remember they used to happen all the time in the summer. Then allofasudden they stopped happeneing. We must have been doing something right.

Thankfully the state of California and us Angelenos ourselves don't want that either. Everywhere else is fucked though especially red states. Enjoy your cancer.

companies will not make cars just for california or the redstates. cars are manufactured for the world wide market and immission laws are getting strict everywhere

You guys don't need to build a wall, you need to build an airtight dome to keep those fumes to yourselves.

Love, the rest of the world.
