Twin Peaks Season 3 OT |25 Years Later...It Is Happening Again

Memorializing the character's name is just straight-up gross. I'm sorry, Frost/Lynch, but if you're really so far up your own asses you think that's appropriate, then I've lost respect for you. I love this shit, but it's a goddamn TV show.
Catherine and David came up with the log lady together when making Eraserhead. Catherine loved that character more than I think you appreciate. In real life she carried that log with her nearly everywhere too.

RIP Log Lady.

I don't think you know the actress well (I'm an expert)
...

The read I had on the scene was that Hawk viewed it exactly the way Margaret said he would when she called- that it isn't an end, but just a change. Lynch/Frost throw in the scene afterwards with Lucy and Truman so we get a more, well, human reaction to her passing.

I do agree that citing the character's name instead of the actor- when all the other actors have had their names given- is weird, but I think they handled it perfectly fine within the show.
I see what you mean, it's just that it once again looked like he wasn't paying attention to what she's saying. He always takes forever to take her call (it might even be the same shot every time) and then it sounds like he can't wait for the call to end. His behavior already seemed weird when she called to drop some metaphysical wisdom, but this part made it look pretty darn inappropriate.

The dedication wouldn't be so jarring if the send-off weren't handled so hastily, especially on a show which has shown that it can afford to spend all eternity literally making us watch paint dry.

So, David Bowie is a coffee pot, Richard is Audrey's son and lol at "Cooper wakes up in episode 15."

EDIT:
And Mark Frost is back as Cyril Pons.

EDIT2:
AND! James Marshall is a good actor!

I stopped watching this show after episode 10 since there were other things on TV on Sundays at that point. The only way I would even bother watching the rest would be Cooper returning but it sounds like that didn't happen and likely never will. Even if it did, we get three measly fucking episodes of him or less? Might as well not even bother as it would be a joke at this point.

For me, Twin Peaks is as good as dead. This is the last post I'll make in this thread out of respect for people who do watch the show and don't want to see arguments in here.

P.S. David Lynch can go fuck himself with his bullshit.

Haha, so did you enjoy the show or not?

God forebid David Lynch tries something new.

I, for one, loved the Audrey scene. The indistinct sense of wrongness and double-meaning is fantastic. Audrey being such an irrational asshole is kind of frustrating, but the sense that there's more going on than meets the eye helps alleviate that somewhat.

Also, Charlie is fucking hilarious. I want to put him in a room with Mr C or BOB and just watch the ensuing conversation.

There's a difference between trying something new and hijacking a beloved series to get out all your pent up creative ideas before retirement. For those who aren't enjoying the show, the difference is important.

I don't think you know the actress well. They had an in memory segment for Catherine in Part 1, but something about the actress is that she loved the world of Twin Peaks and the role of the Log Lady. She lived nearby where I live so I had met her before, she was a big fan of Twin Peaks in general and always welcomed people recognizing her as her character, she's a very sweet woman. She was one of the heaviest pushers for Lynch to do Season 3 because of her love for the series, and despite obviously being sickly in her scenes she wanted to do them.

I think it's befitting knowing her, she loved her character and Twin Peaks. She really wanted to be in the new season and had always said the Log Lady was one of her favorite roles and characters, so I think it's befitting. I think you're reading into this too literally.

Thanks for writing this. I can't think of an eloquent way of stating this but it is satisfying seeing people get offended for shit they project when really they don't know what they are talking about, and having someone who does have insight sharing it with them and everyone else.

Pretty good episode, but man do they have a ton of ground to cover in a meager 3 hours. Every episode is going to have to paced like 14 was if we're going to have a satisfying conclusion.

I'm glad things turned out alright for Big Ed.
Hope he doesn't die.

Wasn't like the first episode of this season dedicated to Catherine Coulson? Guess they didn't want to do that again, so it's dedicated to her character.

Another great episode.

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and guess Lynch knew Coulson better than anyone speculating anything in here, and knew the end credit thing was appropriate.

Charlie is hilarious.

And I don't hate Audrey like a lot of people. She seems confused and frustrated. Makes her situation... curious.

That episode was so fucking good. Shame Bowie couldn't play his part but that's life I guess.

So the Fireman/Giants clue of "Richard and Linda" turned out to be the number 6 on the telephone pole in episode 6 (confirming that the 3 and 15 Cooper saw in that room were how long he'd be out of action for).

The ridiculousness of Audrey's stuff is clearly starting to show she's not all there.

Audrey was probably my favorite character in the original show (well, for a large portion of it at least) so seeing her character in this state is super frustrating and heartbreaking

also Doop's interaction with Richard seemed to confirm some things

Kind of embarrassing but it occurred to me tonight that this really might not end well. Twin Peaks is unraveling and Mr. C might "win". I just always assumed there would be positive resolution but there is acceptance now that whatever happens, happens. Mother takes over Audrey and she wakes up, roll credits.

I thought it was a lovely tribute. Loved the episode.

People in here were offended? I thought it was amazing and touching. Maybe I need to take some time out of this thread.

Coop is back it seems... But we could honestly go another episode or two without seeing him haha.

This concludes the Mark Frost portion of tonight's programming.

Now please enjoy this presentation of David Lynch mindfuckery.

To be fair, Frost is the one bringing all the occult stuff into the show. Aside from a few things, like the importance of electricity which is obviously Lynch, Frost is the guy you thank for the show's crazy lore. People's assumption that Twin Peaks is made weird by David Lynch is unfortunate and diminishes how much strangeness Frost actually brings.

Apart from the Audrey stuff and the stuff with the dude from Get Out (I get the feeling he thinks Johnny Depp's indulgent roles are his good ones) this episode ruled. My eyes got moist during the Ed & Norma scene. They got a little more than moist during Margaret's scene. I can't imagine what it was like being on set for that.

Really glad we went "above the convenience store" as I was pretty confused when we saw it in ep 8 and it didn't have an upper floor. Very curious to know whats up with the numbers Jeffries gave. Also, JUMPING MAN! Strangely, he was the character I was most excited to see after seeing the cast list. Hope we get a better look at him.

let's be real

there isn't enough time to wrap up

so there'll be a bunch of cool but totally incomprehensible shit in the various Rooms and Lodges to tie things together

We didn't see Cooper back to normal, but we saw what brings him back. So, yeah.

Are you sure this isn't just a way to bring him into a hospital where something else happens that wakes him up?

So, no. He didn't wake up in this episode and we definitely can't say this is the thing that causes him to wake up.

I forgot they gave Catherine a memorial earlier this season. Giving the character herself a sendoff this season is totally fine then.

I don't think they really have that much to wrap up on 3 hours. Genuinely. Remember everything that happened in the last episode of season 1 and the first episode of season 2? And that's 2 hours 15 minutes.

Obviously Lynch can do whatever he wants on his own show. I still think that within the context of an out-of-fiction tribute to a member of the cast who's passed away, the manner in which that tribute represents an actor's legacy to the general audience who probably dont have a wealth of behind-the-scenes knowledge should be given due consideration. I just like seeing people recognized for their work. But I can see that my distaste for the approach they took puts me in the minority here, so I'll say no more on the matter.

I think it will be the thing that wakes him up. I expect Chantal and Hutch are going to arrive just as he regains his senses.

I'm not going to split hairs as to whether that means he woke up in part 15 or not should he be himself again next time we see him.

I wish everyone could have had the chance to meet Catherine. She was a wonderful soul.

Didn't Cooper come through a power outlet on his way out of the lodge earlier this season? Definitely think this is Coop coming back.

Jeffries lives in room number 8.
James went to a cell number 7 and his friend into cell number 8.

In some video when Lynch and the cast were talking about their favorite numbers or something like that I think Mädchen said she likes number 17 to which Lynch replied something like "17 is 8, but 8 is a good number."

Yeah, for example the owls was Frost's idea. Lynch said in an interview he doesn't really know what the owls are about and that it's a thing Mark came up with.

I thought the Jumping Man seemed to have the facial features of Mr. C.
Could be I saw something that is not there but for a moment it looked like that.

I do believe you did ;)

Regarding the owls: I didn't know that, thanks. Makes sense as owls are an important occult symbol usually representing wisdom as well as Lilith/Screech Owl mother (hm) of all demons (HMMM).

I'll have to go back and look at that. Someone on here or reddit said Sarah Palmer's face is inter-cut with the Jumping Man's. If that's the case I don't have a clue what it means.

Edit: ^^^ Oh damn. Interesting.

Honestly, no clue who Judy is at this point. The American Girl was Ronette, the blind girl thats showed up in TP is credited as Naido and Jeffries shouldn't know her location at the moment. Don't really see Janey-E or Diane being her, so I'm all out of guesses.

I can't believe my "Sarah Palmer has the Jumping Man in her/the Jumping Man is the Frog Moth" theory I said last week might actually be true.

It was literally based on the fact frogs jump, and the thing under Sarah's face for two split seconds had the Jumping Man's nose, and someone pointed out the Frog Moth has the Jumping Man's nose. Also the thing under Sarah's face pulled off a mask under her face, and the only entity we know who wears a mask is the Jumping Man.

So did Jeffries think that was the actual Cooper he was talking to?
Curious about that too. Do doppelgängers have all of the same memories as the real version, or what exactly does it mean that Mr. C knows about the Jefferies visit?

That's wild, yeah.

I'm a computer idiot so I don't know how to post an image but holy shit at Jumping Man's makeup. A damn fine upgrade. Same design but with some added creep. The extra jagged nose is a nice touch as well.
