I really don't see how they can cover the seediness of the town and Cooper's return in three episodes...

I actually liked this week's more than last. I enjoyed last week's but don't think it'd be among my favorites for the season- it moved too fast, whereas this one took some time soaking in the details while hitting plot points. Ideally, we'd have had some of last week's stuff interspersed throughout the slower episodes, but this is what we're getting so I'll just judge it as it comes.

Nearly every scene has stuff going dark. Wondering if Log Lady's warning from earlier this season is going to end up being much more literal than I anticipated.

And given that scene, I don't see Coop waking up at the end of 18, so I'm really expecting next week or the beginning of 17, if they opt to just leave Dougie out of 16, (They've been alternating episodes with and without him, so it's not out of the question and it wouldn't be unlike Lynch to leave us hanging on that cliffhanger for a bit.) The 315 predicters are broken at least! :p

Agreed on this episode being the stronger one, felt appropriately dense in terms of balancing atmosphere and narrative pacing. Might be my favorite one yet actually, which I'm sure will change more than a few times in the weeks and months to come on new episodes as their air and rewatches.

The forest scene with Stephen and Gersten was something else. Loved the track they played on top of it. And heh at Frost cameo. First time I watched a new episode with headphones, think this is the way I'm goin from now on through the finale, just pick up so much rich detail from all the sound design and dark ambient tracks, really enhances the experience.

I like the Audrey scenes, especially in the context of her perhaps still in a coma. It really gives them a claustrophobic atmosphere. Like she's trapped in the house and in these conversations.

IDK, I thought the fact that those girls in the roadhouse mentioned Billy the same night Audrey did proved the coma theory wrong

Audrey scenes fucking suck

so do roadhouse scenes

I am finding the Audrey stuff very interesting. It's been the same night for three episodes. It's obvious something isn't right.

Wasn't one of them a nurse? It's possible she's hearing about whoever Billy is while in a coma and it's becoming a part of her dream state.

Yeah all signs point to all the plot threads going 100 per miles now. 3 hours to wrap up South Dakota, Las Vegas, Twin Peaks, the Black Lodge and White Lodge. I sense a vague ending to this series.

I haven't looked at the replies in the thread (need to wait another hour and 10 for the ep), but quote me with a yes/no reply...

Was it a good episode?

If it's too obvious, the opposite is going to happen. So many signs pointing to Cooper's return in 15... which means of course 15 is the episode that Dougie eats some cake and sticks a fork in an electrical socket.

Sharp Dressed Man, huh. I'm on to you, Lynch.

In memory of... a fictional character whose actor actually passed away? Really?
Might as well go full-gimmick.
In Memory of
DALE COOPER
DOUGLAS JONES
DOUGLAS JONES
MARGARET LANTERMAN
They way they handled her passing was rather upsetting. Either Michael Horse is a dreadful actor or Lynch never told him what Hawk is supposed to be hearing because that scene once again played out as if Margaret called to invite him for coffee and cookies.
I guess it's also possible that they recorded some random reaction shots of Hawk and later repurposed those to fit that half-assed send-off, but I dunno why they couldn't re-record Hawk's most important phone call scene.

Then Dougie spends 16 in a coma, awakening only at the end of the ep to give someone a thumbs up. Which means Coop really is back, but it won't be obvious until the 2 hour finale when he starts talking and acting like himself.

I don't think you know the actress well. They had an in memory segment for Catherine in Part 1, but something about the actress is that she loved the world of Twin Peaks and the role of the Log Lady. She lived nearby where I live so I had met her before, she was a big fan of Twin Peaks in general and always welcomed people recognizing her as her character, she's a very sweet woman. She was one of the heaviest pushers for Lynch to do Season 3 because of her love for the series, and despite obviously being sickly in her scenes she wanted to do them.

I think it's befitting knowing her, she loved her character and Twin Peaks. She really wanted to be in the new season and had always said the Log Lady was one of her favorite roles and characters, so I think it's befitting. I think you're reading into this too literally.

The read I had on the scene was that Hawk viewed it exactly the way Margaret said he would when she called- that it isn't an end, but just a change. Lynch/Frost throw in the scene afterwards with Lucy and Truman so we get a more, well, human reaction to her passing.

I do agree that citing the character's name instead of the actor- when all the other actors have had their names given- is weird, but I think they handled it perfectly fine within the show.

this episode was so good that i had already forgotten about the Norma/Ed scene by the time it ended

Memorializing the character's name is just straight-up gross. I'm sorry, Frost/Lynch, but if you're really so far up your own asses you think that's appropriate, then I've lost respect for you. I love this shit, but it's a goddamn TV show.

Would have to go back and check, but I'm fairly confident Catherine Coulson, the actor, had an "In Memory Of" at the end of Part 1.

Also her and Lynch have known each other since the making of Eraserhead.

To me it came off as "In memory of this cool idea for a character we had but can no longer use because the frail human vessel who brought her to life happened to die, but forget about her."

It's good to see that they honored her back in episode 1. I missed that. But it's definitely weird that they handled her sendoff this way.

I stopped watching this show after episode 10 since there were other things on TV on Sundays at that point. The only way I would even bother watching the rest would be Cooper returning but it sounds like that didn't happen and likely never will. Even if it did, we get three measly fucking episodes of him or less? Might as well not even bother as it would be a joke at this point.

For me, Twin Peaks is as good as dead. This is the last post I'll make in this thread out of respect for people who do watch the show and don't want to see arguments in here.

P.S. David Lynch can go fuck himself with his bullshit.

These folks knew her much better than you did -- Catherine Coulson starred in one of Lynch's earliest shorts, "The Amputee" -- so really, you kinda just seem like an ass telling the people who knew her best how to mourn and honor her.
