Unf, loving the return to Twin Peaks. I was a mega-fan of the original and never thought something like this could see the light of day. I was with the ride for the first two hours, as mind-bending as they were.
And then the Chromatics at the road house made everything click into place.
Gave me chills.

On the Chromatics song, it was expertly used in my opinion. Not only is the song itself great (and an original by them for this series, apparently they were inspired by Blue Velvet to make it), but the whole episode is full of strangeness, gruesomeness, there's no pretty music really at all through the first two episodes and we barely see any of Twin Peaks itself, and things are getting very bizarre for Cooper in the scene right before this, so when we find ourselves in the Roadhouse and the song kicks in after an hour and fifty minutes of the other stuff before this scene, it gives the scene a great sense of emotion, beauty, and familiarity.

Just my opinion, and I don't doubt for a second it was the intention.

edit: double post, but oh well. Was just catching up with the page and wanted to comment since the Chromatics song on my viewing of the premiere really helped aid the scene and I think the whole closure in the Roadhouse was oddly impacting/emotional.

It's for their next album. It was actually released as a single a year or two ago, but was since taken down.

They're releasing it on their album, and they probably made the song some time ago, but Chromatic were contacted by Lynch around the same time for filming and in their recent release mention it was inspired by David Lynch's Blue Velvet, and there's a reason they released it officially on the night of the TP premiere with a music with TP red curtain imagery and all.

Episode 4 was AMAZING. Best of the show so far.
Naomi Watts was awesome, Kyle is acting amazingly well.
But holy fucking shit -
The Bobby scene hit me hard. I was overflown with joy, sadness and nostalgia.
And the
Albert + Gordon talk after the meeting with Mr. C was so fucking good, I love these stuff. Tamara is super fishy to me, Lynch is dropping clues about her...

One of the things that I love the most about this season so far is the face Al Strobel is getting a lot of screen time, I think he might be my favorite actor ever based on his performances in Season 1 and 2 (and the movie), and I hope to see him outside of the lodge this season.

One more thing - after that

scene from ep3 I really really hope we get a Bowie scene because of all the mentions of his character.

Parts 1 through 4 all premiered on demand on the 21st, though only 1 & 2 aired on TV on the 21st. Parts 3 & 4 premiere on TV on the 28th. Then on June 4th they're going to go to releasing one part per week, though they'll skip one week (probably July 4th weekend), and the finale (which is on September 3rd) will be two parts and aired together (Parts 17 & 18).

So basically Parts 1 & 2 aired on May 21st, Parts 3 & 4 air on May 28th, but Parts 1 - 4 were released on demand after the live premiere on the 21st (which is why it's two weeks, since Parts 3 & 4 air on the 28th). Then every week after that will be one part aired live and then released on-demand afterwards starting on June 4th with Part 5 (though skipping one week somewhere along the line), then 17 & 18 both air on September 3rd as a two part finale.

Yes. But at least they have the sound right :) Some of the shows and even films on HBO Nordic have fucked up sound (=mono) and the support is clueless. But yeah, I would actually pay a lot of money if I could get this thing on Blu-ray right now. i would pay three figures :)

I hate HBO Nordic with passion. So many good shows, such a shit quality.

They first released it around the time the series (and their performance scene) would have been shot. The lyrics about confronting your shadow feel pretty relevant to this show.

Also remember Johnny Jewel found time to deliver a whole EP of for/inspired by TP S3 instrumentals. It has to be at least nearly done.

Tracey is the reason that the guard is missing, and the reason she may have gone and the reason they removed the guard was so the guy would invite the girl in and do couple things.

Looked deeper into this and a few others have mentioned it, and I read two further theories onto why Tracey came to the Glass Box room and they removed the guard:

They may have been trying to do the Jack Parson's Moonchild Ritual which is mentioned in The Secret History of Twin Peaks. It's a ritual for creating a "Moonchild" through some sort of sex magic, which is a weird theory but this is legitimately brought up in The Secret History of Twin Peaks. The second theory is that in the original run of the series, it's mentioned that the Black Lodge could only be opened through "love and fear", so maybe them doing the love making thing opened the tear in the box next to them further.

There's some deeper theory stuff, but the first bit about Tracey beign the woman Mr. Todd hired to go to the Glass Box room and remove the security guard to make it so the guy may invite the girl in to do stuff is something I missed.

I interpreted it as Mr. Todd hired the escort (under the direction doppelgänger Coop)for Dougie so he could be killed after Coop came back.

One thing I noticed...
Naomi Watts is wearing an outfit VERY similar to the one she wears the first few scenes in Mulholland Drive. Black pants, white shirt, red-ish sweater buttoned over top. The actual style of the clothes is different and clearly not the exact same items, but still. Maybe it's Diane Selwyn ;) Nah... can't be... but even her hair is pretty similar in that scene.

His manager tweeted a little while back about how the album was pressed to vinyl, and there were records and CDs sitting in a warehouse ready to go back in 2015, but Johnny had a near-death experience that prompted him to smash all the copies and completely re-record the album. But if they were willing to put out a new vid for Shadow, I assume the re-recording must be done or close to done then. Hopefully, anyway.

The video was shot in early 2016, they were just waiting for the show to premiere it.

That shot with Sarah Palmer watching water buffalo get eaten alive by lions is haunting me. Dead look in her eyes, drink in hand. Empty dark house. Feels bad man. Hope she gets some happiness and closure this season.

Reminded of Johnnie Farragut (Harry Dean Stanton) in Wild At Heart watching hyenas rip something apart while he yips at the tv like a madman...and a few scenes later we've got Grace Zabriskie's (Sarah Palmer) character saying its time to hunt "buffalo" before ritualistically killing Farragut. Probably no connection but thought the similarities were interesting.

I have to watch that scene again. The first time I watched it I couldn't help but stare at the mirrors(prominently placed above her head) the entire time because she obviously has a history with things in mirrors.

Yep on my second watch was certainly paying attention to the mirrors as well.

I was skeptical at first about the overall digital look with the initial teasers but have really enjoyed the way interiors have been lit in most scenes, in particular the Palmer house, the loft with the glass cube, and
the room with the fireplace before Coop pops out into Dougie.

Consider Sarah Palmer is watching a glass box and seeing vicious animals attack and kill innocent creatures. Earlier, two presumably innocent people are attacked by a vicious creature that comes out of the glass box they are watching. If you notice, this creature has breasts. It may be a mother or has potential to be one. Also consider
in episode 3 a mother is stalking Cooper in the Black Lodge.

There is a lot more to unpack in comparing the scenes actually. I believe this is all intentional.
