Twin Peaks Season 3 OT |25 Years Later...It Is Happening Again

In episode 3 or 4 (can't recall),
did anyone else notice that the child of Naomi Watts and Dougie looks the same as the child that we see with the "119" lady who is taking pills and drinking? And that's directly across the street from them, isn't it? Perhaps they just looked similar, but I felt it was the same child actor.

You'll probably want to check those scenes again. Not only do the children look nothing alike, but the 119 lady is in Rancho Rosa, not Lancelot Court.

It's obviously hard to keep things in this show straight, though.

The house he starts in with the prostitute isn't his family home, so Watts' house isn't across the street from the 119 woman and the kids are different (one has shoulder length hair).

So a small detail I missed a friend pointed out to me, but the woman Mr. Todd in Las Vegas was hiring Tracey to go to the New York to check on the Glass Box. Tracey is the reason that the guard is missing, and the reason she may have gone and the reason they removed the guard was so the guy would invite the girl in and do couple things.

Where are you getting that this refers to Tracey? All Mr. Todd says is "Tell her she has the job" and hands his man some money. And this is (apparently) after Tracey is killed. Another possible explanation is that this is the money offered to Ray and Darya to kill Evil Coop, although Darya says that she didn't have any contact with the person who hired them. More likely it's in regards to something we haven't seen yet.

hmm I think most of the things in episode 3+4
are not real or not happening in real life. It's all in Coopers head as he is trying to find a way out of the black lodge.
The women talking (911)
backwards might be a sign that he hasn't left the lodge yet
.
The bad coop plot and the
interrogation with Albert and Cole is real though. The more good Coop is trying to get into "our" world the more does bad Coop suffer

I need to rewatch to see if I agree, but as my friend and some others online have said it, Mr. Todd mentions a hired woman. Mr. Todd is working under a billionaire he doesn't like working for but the identity is kept secret. The billionaire hired a woman to check on the Glass Box Room he mentions. The woman he hired is Tracey, the girl who brings the man coffee. The reason the guard is not on duty is because the billionaire set up for the guard not to be there so the girl could go in and do her job to seduce him, as she was hired to do (but probably didn't know why, just like he doesn't know why he's watching the box). But apparently the proof is that they confirm the woman they hired went inside the Glass Box room, and Tracey is the woman who goes inside the glass box room, which means she was the hired woman they mention who went inside. Mr. Todd then mentions the billionaire running the operation is someone you don't want to deal with.

I only have seen the episodes once but this was how it was explained to me and saw a few others also picked up on this online, since apparently they mention a woman who was hired by the same billionaire running the experiment who entered the glass box room, and that'd be Tracey which might also explain why the guard is gone so he might invite her in. This is just how I understand it as it was explained to me, I didn't pick up on this myself.

I wonder if the plot about "Judy" from FWWM is going to be referenced in the future, especially since
Phillip Jeffries
is "present" in some shape or form.

Part 3 and 4:
I think Mr C is suffering because Coop is regaining strength. One must die and all that. The plot to put Coop into Dougie and then kill him, was to stop them switching... but now that has failed, Coop is gaining strength and Mr C is losing strength.

That's my current feelings anyway.

Oh, and I think the Giant is ???????? because his old host is obviously dead. The Giant may well be inhabiting someone new. Maybe even someone we've already met.

agreed. that's part of the appeal for me. don't just give fans what they want but challenge them and move forward.
And that's why it's great. Anyone wanting some gross fan service crap is just dumb.

Was wondering when David Patrick Kelly turned into Rip Van Winkle but I guess he's just way older than I thought. He was 38 in the Warriors!

I, for some reason, always thought the different Lodges looked the same and it was always up in the air as to what one we were actually seeing at any given time. Besides the finale which was obviously the black lodge?

I've never actually been clear about that. At one point they describe the Red Room as a waiting room (Which I guess is an apt description, if Cooper is waiting there for 25 years). I figured the 'Above the Convenience Store' stuff from FWWM was more the Black Lodge than anything.

Not sure if it's been discussed in here, but just saw on NYT that the first episode did half a million viewers. I guess that's not very good. Oh well all the episodes are finished and coming!

Theory about something missing
In FWWM Annie tells Laura to write about the good dale being trapped in the lodge in her diary, could that page be missing still?

Is that just broadcast though? Ratings need to incorporate streaming, these days.

Showtime said it drove the most new subscribers to them in a single evening on Twitter.

Episode 4. In Lynch we trust.

Anyone else get happy when the classic Twin Peaks theme played during the conference room scene? Especially the theme that follows the piano when they discuss the case.

Also the Showtime rating numbers don't really matter. Like... Did anyone here watch this on TV? I watched it off Hulu. I'm pretty sure people watching it online aren't counted here (but correct me if I'm wrong), and doesn't count the people watching the episodes on-demand rather than live.

I might be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure the TV ratings don't really matter here since Showtime is streaming these episodes online immediately too through their on-demand services. Who really feels urged to watch it on some TV schedule when they can watch it at their own pace on-demand or stream it online?

And as they're a subscription based service, I think the live view ratings are less important than the subscriptions it moves.

Only thing that is bothering me is HBO Nordics abysmal stream quality. At points I can count the different shades of reds or blacks with just my fingers because everything is compressed to shit.

I'm not sure Dusk but I would assume Nielsen works streaming data into their numbers.

The 1990 premiere had 35 million viewers... insane. I was born in 1984 and never even heard of TP until college.

Showtime doesn't care about ratings. Most people are watching this streaming and they've already announced that Sunday was their largest ever single day sign up for their streaming services. It's been a huge success so far.

"Is it future... or... is it past?"

You could be right, but it really is up in the air at this time. Time will tell. Or not.

Also worth nothing Showtime is absolutely notorious for having shows run way longer than they actually should.

Watched all 4 eps last night, it was glorious and surprising in so many ways. Definitely going to infuriate some, but I am super happy to see Lynch being full bore Lynch.

Hawk and Boop are my favorite things so far.

Ep 3
full of weird in both the OG series and the new. Coincidence? Or structural decision? This episode was JackieChanWhaaaaaa?.jpg in the best possible way!

My guess is that some of this opening section of the show
will be kind of like the Deer Meadow stuff in FWWM, where it starts elsewhere in new terrain and then the focus of the plot will shift back home to Twin Peaks.

So do I have this straight (based on what we know):
Cooper in prison (Mr C) is the real Cooper body, hosted by Bob/Doppelganger. Mr C knew Cooper was going to try to come back to his body as it's been 25 years so he created a decoy; another doppelganger of Cooper called Dougie (Mr C to Daria: "Tomorrow I'm supposed get pulled back to a place they call the black lodge, but I'm not going back there; I have a plan for that one". Mike to Dougie: "You were manufactured for a purpose that is now fulfilled"). Cooper tries to come back causing both of his bodies to vomit garmonbozia (maybe causing the effects we're seeing in their speech/mental ability). Mr C realises this at 2:53 and fights it, causing Cooper to enter the decoy, Dougie, instead of his own body (Mike to Dougie/Cooper: "You have been tricked"). One of them must die, which is why I'm assuming Mr C has somehow set it up so that Dougie has a hit on him (though he likely hasn't planned for him having a bag of money).

That sounds right to me. Now we wait for more.

It's actually a lot simpler (ha) than that.
The doppelganger isn't someone possessing Coop's body, its an evil doppelganger that escaped the Lodge instead of Coop. Coop can not escape the Lodge until Mr. C comes back, so Mr. C created a body double named Dougie in order to fool the Lodge. Dougie goes in, Cooper comes out. Both Cooper and Mr. C seem to be acting weird though, and we don't really know why yet.

The doppelganger is a physical being, not a spirit possessing Cooper's body.
Cooper didn't take over Dougie's body, he physically swapped with him - remember, Dougie's wife notices how he has suddenly "lost weight", and he has his old suit/hotel key in his pocket.

Sounds about right to me.

Right yes, the doppelgangers are switching physical bodies and not just hosting within his mind, but the gist of it still follows that Mr C is his true doppelganger that he needs to switch with (or kill) to come back and Dougie was a decoy created by Mr C so he swaps with the wrong body.
