Two Worlds II |OT| QA Tested, Jerry Approved

You still find the best items by grinding. Then you break up all the other loot into pieces and use them to improve your favourite gear even further. Some of the stuff that you find is already improved to some degree.

What you also can do is take out the crystals from a boss weapon if you don't like it and put them on your favourite weapon instead. Or you can melt multiple crytals to form even more powerful ones.

Sounds awesome, thanks! How does the enemy lvling work? Please tell me its not broken like Oblivion's.

I am having a hard time telling if it is leveled with you or not. Maybe I am not far enough in the game, or I set my enchantments wrong. But I have indeed found a baddie who wiped the floor with me.

Very very shocked at these impressions. TW2 condidate for most-improved sequel of all time?

I wonder how the 360 version is...

If the European Previews, and the pirates are to be believed. It is surprisingly close to the PC max version in many ways.

This fits though. The game runs super high FPS with everything on and seems to be incredibly well optimized.

I very much doubt it. Simple wildlife like Warthogs and Cheetahs have killed me :lol

Also, I have encountered enemies so strong I had to use stealth and assassinate them rather than a straight fight.

And, I have entered caves where the enemies are basically impossible to beat at my current level.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
So doing a balanced character is a bad idea, eh? I've been pretty much balancing myself equally on all fronts. I have found that magic is totally useless going this route though. I'm still on the first island, and none of my spells (air, freeze or fire) do squat to ants. They do a bit more damage to those goblin things though.

Also, how can you tell if a mob is "blinded" by that special sword ability?

wat?

There are Ants on the first island? I just met Groms.

And what the hell is that 'blind' ability? I haven't found it.

How are the production values in this game? I need them to be high or I know I'll switch off, is this the kind of game where you need to forgive the janky animation, translation problems, graphical issues etc to have a good time or not?

Is everyone voiced, proper tutorials, good controls, performance problems? etc... and anything else you can think of.

By the way in case someone is hoarding ability (not skill) points indecisively, don't bother as you can reset your attribute point allocation for some money fairly early on.

The "blind" attack is Dirty Tricks, you find a skill book for it early on, gives a random chance to blind enemies while you are attacking them, pretty swank. As to how to tell if it worked, I'm not sure.

I never found any ants on the starter island, but then I didn't explore it much. I did find a Giant Ant early on after leaving the first town on the mainland, and it could kill me with one hit (was like level 4 at the time I think), but I was able to kill it (for almost a full bar of experience, woot!) by using bow and fire magic. Going back to the alcove where it came from I found a cave called "Spider Cave" that had a giant fucking spider in it that ate my face off without flinching when I shot it with a bow. I didn't go back in there upon reload.

Someday I'll have my revenge... though. Someday... *mumbles something about giant spiders*

Man, this game is HARD. The starting island has things that will destroy you in one hit. I'm afraid to go outside of the town I just found myself in. :lol

Oh, and the dice game is broke as hell. Easily exploitable.

Did not expect to hear so much love for this game. Now that I've heard it's coming for Mac and PC, I am pretty well 100% sold. I wonder if Steam Play is too much to hope for.

Is there anywhere to get a digital download of the Euro version from North America?

I just started reading the Fire and Ice series so I'm craving a good fantasy RPG. I was thinking of going with Gothic 4 or Dragon Age, is this better?

Most of the thread already answers all this in various ways but as for animation.

That is the one thing that is mixed. It doesn't bother me at all, others think it does indeed look janky.

Everyone is voiced, tut is at the start of the game, controls are good except for me "pickup item" and jump are the same button which can cause me to fling myself through a room on accident.

So is the OP saying it's "Jerry" approved talking about the horse or the positive German reviews? If it's the horse I'm not trying to disparage GermanGAF, I'm legitimately curious.

Ignore Gothic 4. It's more or less garbage. Dragon Age is a personal favorite of mine and is closer to Martin than this is. This is Morrowind 2010.

Wow, this looks incredible. I haven't been this hyped for a game I knew absolutely nothing about a week ago since Metro 2033. Shame that it's not out in NA till January. My laptop has a 4670...sufficient? Might just go 360.

Hm, don't know what to take from this. I guess I'll have to wait when people are further along to see if you can go back and absolutely destroy enemies that gave you a rough time at the beginning. Thats what I'm looking for; I want to eventually feel like a badass, not get punished for leveling up my character with awesome skills and items like in Oblivion.

$62USD! Yowza, I'll wait until January. Now I know what so much of the rest of the world must feel like. Poor Aussies.

So much choice in this game. Fishing village spoiler:
When you choose to kill the woman on top of the lighthouse, she drops a crazy magical "Eye" which can be used inifinite times to do some air recon. It's awesome!

Can one respec to a mage or other class later on? I'm enjoying my warrior-like character, but seeing those tasty mage pets, I really want to try that out too.

What difficulty are you on?

I am playing on hard and I have to use the old 'fire arrow then run away - rinse and repeat' trick on some enemes :lol

Assassination is worth it for the tougher enemies like Varns that you meet in the Savannah.

Have anybody recovered the Runestone from the cave with the Necris? They slaughter me in one blow

FlyinJ

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Also, how are you melee guys dealing with the "block, counterattack" strategy? I find it extremely hard to tell when a valid counter is possible, it just seems to randomly fire off. Blocking isn't very viable as every hit still gives you damage.

I have a shield equipped, but my character still blocks with his sword. Is there a way to block with a shield, or is it just considered another piece of armor?

No problems using a credit card when I'm in the US?

Nope. I'm as American as mom, apple pie and pornography. I bought it just fine.

Eh. Retail is what, 59.99 now? Happy to pay a couple extra to play a few months early.

Normal. I have to do much the same. I hope the game doesn't level with you.

Thanks, from what I've seen so far it looks like TW2 is less gritty/violent than DA. However, if it's as good as everyone is saying it is I'll definitely pick it up eventually (as boring as Oblivion can be at times I still loved it).

Hmm, on that link from the OP it says: 44.95 Euros, which is like $62USD, right?

Retail for me on a PC game is still $49.99USD. I don't buy that Activision jank.

Looks really, really impressive. Sadly my 8800gt only just meets system requirements so I guess Ill be passing on it for now.

I would say they are quite impressive for a game of this scale.

Ok, so using the German proxy from the OP and the link http://www.gamersgate.co.uk/all?q=two+worlds+II you can get it for about $13USD cheaper.

Thanks! More general Gamersgate question. How is this going to work if I ever need to redownload this again? Since I'm buying it from the US through a German Proxy off a British site?

You can download it from the US site with no problem as many times as you want after buying it. It just adds the game to your account.

Imagine I'm crazy and want to play this on the 360 because my PC is ass. Would I be able to import the German PAL version and play it in English?

An 8800 should be fine. I am getting great framerates with just a 4870. I would imagine an 8800 could hit 30FPS with ease @ 720P
