Ubisoft FY 2012-13 Q3 Sales Call [WiiU/Vita Sales, AC:L 600K, PC/Console Split, More]

Now I wonder how much money Sony lost on that Amazon deal. (and many others)

Because I bet Ubisoft got theirs $40 for each copy of ACL.
I really doubt that 1st parties have to pay full retail price when bundling 3rd party games. The 3rd parties get their share of course, but doubtfully full price :)

Regarding Vita, last FY, we did pretty well on Assassin's Creed, close to 600k units - pretty happy with figure. I wouldn't discount PSVita, right quality, it might work.

This is great to hear, and I'm happy the sales met their expectations, hopefully, prompting more VITA games in the future.

yes, MS talked about that with their partners, they want to prepare console players for F2P, didn't want to rush it.
I can see F2P being something MS heavily focuses on when they do advertising and during the reveal, while still keeping some F2P games Gold-only. Day 1 F2P games being a huge sticking point they use to bring folks on board.

They seem to have a studio that is working on a multi-player game that sounds like free-to-play, also Happy Wars and soon Ascend: New Gods will be available on XBLA - both are free-to-play. MS are not stupid, they should know that free-to-play is something that is only going to get bigger in the years to come.

Hmm.. first official indication that [both] next-gen platforms are designed to support F2P models out of the box?

We knew Microsoft was phasing it in based on a variety of announcements over the last little while, including their highest profile XBLA game for 2013, Ascend, and the promotion they've given Happy Wars in Fall 2012. They've also done a bunch of F2P WP7 games and a few on W8.

The real problem is that there haven't actually been any console F2P successes. No one seems to have made a game design that "pops" the way some of the most famous F2P mobile games have.

No idea about EU sales, but per creamsugar, Declassified was actually the best-selling Vita game in the US as of the end of 2012. Only one to break 300K retail.

DD sales on vita are quite high (percentage wise) and it's one of the main franchises on vita. It's not unfathomable to think that Uncharted sales are above AC:L even before counting "free" PS+ downloads.

I imagine Liberation will be ported to PS3/360 by the end of the year.

Maybe, it's a buggy game though, so not sure how well that would do.

Very interesting Vita Digital percentages... Wouldn't surprise me if it's lower than the average for most publishers either, because their biggest game is bundled physically, and the only Ubisoft game I can think of that people would want to always have handy is Lumines. They also released gameloft crap, and I assume digital buyers are more informed than people just picking up a box in a store.

Agree with people saying Maniaplanet needs to go.

The PS3 actually has a complete free to play section and I'm sure DCUO is doing pretty well for Sony Online.

Keep imagining it because it's not going to happen. The budget was way too low and the game length way too short for Ubisoft to try and put it out there front and center, drawing direct comparisons to the other 360/PS3 games. I mean, I guess it could happen, but it'd be a pretty dumb move given that they're already happy with its performance.

40$ vs 60$

Vita and PC will get a late port, probably.

Or Vita isn't getting the game, also likely.

I really hope so. Origins was absolutely brilliant on the Vita, by far my most preferred system to play it on.
