Ubisoft launches live blog to address AC Unity issues, next update detailed

Glad they're fixing the issues, not glad to see the usual negativity being tossed around.

Why aren't you glad people are being negative? People have every right to be mad that Ubisoft charged $60 for a functionally unfinished game despite lying on at least two occasions that the game would be perfectly okay.

It's one thing for a game to slip with a bug or an issue. It's another where it seems rare that someone can play the game as it is and NOT experience a bug or issue. The latter just screams pure fucking incompetence.

So you think it's ok that people have to wait now weeks if not months until they can FINALLY play this game?

Game breaking bugs/glitches like those shouldn't even be in a FINAL BUILD to begin with and that's why people are mad.

again, noone saying its ok, but the only alternative here would be doing nothing and letting the game remain broken. they announcd they are, in theory, going to try and not do that.

so, again, how is that a bad thing. dont say "it should have shipped fixed!" again, thats been established. you are correct. they fucked up. they are bad people.

we are talking about the action of trying to fix it now.

Fuck em for releasing it in that state.

No one should have any other expectations on Ubisoft then that they're that kind of company that are going to do stuff like that. One of the largest game publishers, with the largest development teams, with annual franchises. Things like these are going to continue to happen.

I feel for the people who were left with the responsibility to fix these problems caused by this bloated team, with people upstairs screaming at them to get it released at the specified team. Let's hope they manage to correct the issues now.

I never said it was ok? What posts are you reading? I'm saying it's a good thing they are actively saying they are going to try and work on the issues. Should it have been fixed in the final build and shipped without these issues? Of course, but it didn't. So there's two ways this would go down since that's the reality, A) ignore the game and say fuck it or B ) do something about it because people purchased the game and deserve the issue to be worked on. Option B is NOT the negative one. Being mad at option B is absurd.

When was the last time a AAA game was broken and the developer/publisher didn't do shit about it?

I wish them good luck. Really hard to get a second chance at making a first impression, though. The ship has already sailed for many a gamer.

Still, there are plenty who don't spend a shitton of time on internets reading about games and reviews who will be happy to pick the game up and will never know about the shitshow that came before their purchase.

Well it is a good thing they are working on fixing it but it's nothing to applaud them for, not even if they really have fixed all the bugs and problems.

i knew i probably should have waited since three other AAA titles out next week and i could have bought one of those instead and killed time until they fixed this up.

be nice if they somehow got 1080p on consoles while also getting stable fps. oh well. still enjoying my time and despite the performance issues i don't feel like i've wasted my money or anything.

Assasins Creed 3? :p

lol

I thought for sure SE wasnt going to touch FFXIII on PC, but aparently they are patching in 1080p and all that jazz in next month.

but that doesnt change the fact that its still not a bad thing. Nobody is saying you, or whoever, shouldnt be mad about the state of the game. Hell, you shouldnt fucking buying it. But you are mad about them saying they are going to fix it O_o

They'd best give fucking priority to increasing the framerate. I'm actually holding off on playing until that improves.

AC3 technical issues aren't nearly as bad as Unity.

ah ok, I havent actually played it, like I said earlier, im way behind (still only played 1 and 2), I keep hearing horror stories about it and just assumed, my bad

In addition, we are already looking into many of the other issues you’ve told us about and we have more updates planned. This list doesn’t capture everything, but here are the most widely-reported problems we’ve heard about from you:

Could do without the disingenuous, patronizing wording. As though they didn't know the problems existed until people told them about them.

I'm sure this is all very confusing and mysterious for Ubi.

So you would rather them say nothing and have no idea if fixes were coming? That's rhetorical.

Did you really not know patches were coming? Guess what, there are patches coming for every single game this holiday season, even those that aren't out yet. I'd be more happy if there was any sort of timeline stated. But, there isn't. Which means I'll probably be done with the game and moved on to Dragon Age before they even begin to fix their mess.

Kinda tired of people being negative and taking it to 11 every time. Gamers are quickly becoming the boy who cried wolf. I can't tell when something actually matters or if people just need their next target.

It's not disingenuous. That's all that people have been doing for the past 2 days is letting Ubisoft know what is fucked in the game. The LEAST they could do is acknowledge they are listening.

The worse part about these issues is Ubisoft knew the game they were shipping, they knew some people wouldn't ignore the large amount of glitches and technical issues. Software isn't a living thing, the code on disc and sent through the internet was in this state.

So they probably prepared reassurance or apologies, and how to address the many technical issues beforehand. How far back did they start preparing? Who knows. The fact that companies are now preemptively forming apology/PR blogs and notices, is pretty telling of how AAA games are viewed by those same companies.

The anger doesn't really come from them saying they are going to fix it. It's from the fact that they released a buggy game to begin with. As long as that wound is still deep, nothing Ubisoft do would have a positive impression on the slighted fans.

This reeks of Ubi having skipped a lot of QA to have the game out earlier.

We makes me question, what does 4 years in game development exactly mean for Unity? Was 2 years of it pre-production and building the new engine, then the other 2 years when full development started?

A lot of the studios was the same team that builds the core AC games (AC1-3, Brotherhood) and I think it really did not have the production time it needed. Hell it was sure evident, no AC games has ever released this broken.

AC3 was a mess, but the framerate pop-in issues were no near as bad.

Looks like people have been $60 beta testers. This thing was pushed out of the oven too early but they need a yearly AC to hit during the holidays I guess.

If it's so important why not just wait? No shortage on titles to play.

How is this a case of "the boy who cried wolf"? You know there was a time when every game you bought at a store played fine right out of the box with little if any glitches? The industry has changed and in this respect, for the worse. Releasing AAA games with glaring, experience marring glitches has become a norm and I see no reason to not complain about it.

If you think my comment was only about this topic than you don't visit many threads...

I don't know when I'll have time for the game later. Tons of games coming out and a couple that will take massive amounts of time (Dragon Age and Witcher). And, I own Unity already, so I shouldn't have to wait until later to enjoy it.

The moral of the story is don't buy games on their release date.

Seriously though, unless you know the developer is famed for having bug free games from "Day 1", this is going to continue to be even more of a trend than last gen due to the complexity of the games.

It's very easy to say it shouldn't happen, but at the same time developers need much better QA time/testers.

You honestly think their own internal game testers didn't already provide them with that list before the game released?
