Ubisoft launches live blog to address AC Unity issues, next update detailed

It'd be funny if this blog was prepared and ready to go before launch. That sounds like something only they could pull off.

I don't have much faith in them fixing the performance anytime soon so no matter how much I want it, I'm going to cancel my last minute preorder tomorrow and will just buy it used if I ever get around to it. No reason to support shit like this even if I'm a huge AC fan that's found plenty of enjoyment in every game so far.

You honestly think their own internal game testers didn't already provide them with that list before the game released?

Exactly. That's why I think it'd be funny if this was all written before launch because there's NO WAY they didn't know about this. Some of these problems didn't just show up.

I'm not very far into the game, I've only played an hour, but after being told for days this would be the most unplayable mess ever, I haven't noticed anything of the sort. Game looks great, runs smoothly on my PC and I haven't run into glitches yet. The only thing that's unfortunate is that there is some pop-in, but I've seen worse pop-in in games this year, most notably in Farming Simulator 15.

So you're meta-thread whining? If you post a comment in this thread, it's reasonable to assume you are addressing the topic in this thread.

This is just one instance of the whole picture, my comments make that clear it is not hard to understand, and the irony of calling out negativity as whining is chuckle inducing.

Glad they're fixing the issues, not glad to see the usual negativity being tossed around.
No game with this kind of false marketing (perfectly smooth and crisp gameplay demos and classic Ubi bullshots), a 12 hour post-release review embargo and this crazy litany of issues deserves respect.

They hid pretty significant negatives until release day so they could cash in and trap those pre-order customers.

That they say they are going to fix the game with patches is the bare minimum they could do. Seriously, its the very bare minimum. These problems can't possibly be some big surprise.

You honestly think their own internal game testers didn't already provide them with that list before the game released?

It's very likely, but that's really besides the point. What would you think of Ubisoft if they didn't mention that they are hearing the issues people are having with the game? Likely for a lot of people their opinion of Ubisoft is firmly in the ground, perfectly understandable, but it'd be weird for them to NOT come out and say they are hearing about the issues. All I'm trying to get at.

Spamming this just because. I got bored and made a theme for Unity on XB1.

Maybe I'll wait for a few patches before playing this game more...

This is how it should work in this case. They acknowledge issues with the game and work to fix it. So as much as people would like to shit on Ubisoft some more, this announcement is only a good thing.

Yeah, No. How it should work is that they don't release an obviously bugged and unfinished game in the first place. So we should bow down to them that they are gonna try and fix some of the issues that the game shouldn't have to begin with?

Is this really how you want to contribute to this thread? I quoted you because you complained vaguely about gamers crying wolf when I don't see how that is applicable to this situation. When people pay 60 dollars for a game, they expect it to run well. That is a basic expectation of quality assurance. They have every right to complain about developers and publishers not holding up their end of the bargain and rushing a game to the detriment of their most dedicated fans.

So I'm "calling out" your negativity because your comment is trying to invalidate people's legitimate criticisms of AC:Unity.

I specified in the case of this game since it has already released and the bugs are there. So I stand by what I said, THIS is how it should be in the case of THIS game. What use is there with saying it shouldn't have been the case over and over again? It's not, game has problems, and they should fix it.

Some people must just be luckier than others 'cause I find it just about impossible to believe people who say they haven't seen any glitches. Like I said before, I haven't had anything game breaking, but I see constant little glitches. The biggest one I've had was when me and an AI buddy were running around and we came to face a big crowd of enemies and his AI turned off and he just stood there while the crowd picked me apart. His brain worked fine the second time.

The pop in also seems absolutely terrible to me. Nothing about the game is good looking because of the constant graphical hiccups like pop in or people just kind of jumping around a little bit. It's all just constantly weird looking because of it. Framerate is also pretty unstable for me. What's odd is that the worst it has dropped was during an in door area when you're
sneaking through the party/ball
at the beginning. It was just me in a big hallway and the framerate just fucking tanked while I was in there.

Again, nothing game breaking and I am enjoying it so far. But, all the little things are annoying.

The good thing about this for me is I won't be able to start Unity for a while still with all the new releases that have been hitting. Hopefully by the time I start Unity it will be much better thanks to patches.

That being said there's still no reason for the game to have launched in this state. And Ubi need to throw some serious manpower at fixing the game.

Don't know what to tell you, but I just haven't run into any glitches yet, neither minor nor major ones. I can imagine they're more common when you get
past Versailles and to Paris
though.

I'll agree to disagree on who and what is negative I guess.

Now I agree that people should expect the game to work and for some people it is. There are always thresholds for defects and ones will always slip through as low severity or low priority. By the looks of it Ubi let more be differed than it should have.

Seriously. Every fan of these series, whether they bought it or not, should be loud and boisterous letting as many people as possible know how crappy a release this product is.

These companies target release dates and think it is acceptable to release a product regardless of the state it is in because they can patch it later.

No other consumer product is released this way - clothing is ready to wear. Food is packaged. TV's work out of the box. Books are written and complete. etc. etc.

These companies should be shamed and notified this is not acceptable.

If it takes crushing their bottom lines, then so be it.

No one should EVER accept an incomplete product at launch.

While game companies have done this occasionally in the past, it is getting much more prevalent. And with the growth of Early Access, it is sad that people are seeing this as acceptable.

It is not. It never should be.

The falling through the ground thing has happened to me once, and I've also gotten stuck a few times on rooftops and ledges where I had to fast travel to get out of it. Those have been my main issues so far (other than it being extremely demanding on PC).

Yeah, I didn't mean that I don't believe you. I just meant that it's crazy to me that it's true that there are some people it's running fine for as far as glitches.

My brother can't even play the game on his PC. The game freezes up after the first
Bishop
cutscene. He says he gets sounds, but the video just freezes there. Found one other person with the problem online, but no solution. Guess that's what you get for going AMD. If they haven't patched it by this weekend I want to bring my 970 over to him and see if just switching from his 290 to my 970 fixes it.

I am one of those who are lucky I guess. I haven't tried this game yet because it was unlocked last night and now I am stuck at work. But in other games where people always complain about glitches and bugs everywhere, I had to actually go look for it. And if I actually get to see a bug, I actually feel amused because I finally know what people are talking about. Let's see how my luck pans out with this game.

Played an hour on my PC and 90 minutes on my PS4. No glitches, no noticeable pop in and a relatively smooth frame rate. It's certainly not 60fps but it's fine and as expected for an ACCOUNT game.

I'm enjoying it. Love the art.

Make sure your console or PC is connected to the internet to benefit from the update’s fixes.
Yeah? What if your connection is maxed out? What if you don't have a connection?

These kind of things need to be taken into account. Release your game as a working piece of software, or don't release it.

Played it on my PC with my 7950 updated to the latest catalyst beta drivers and was getting a firm 40fps with zero glitches so far.

I like how they're going "here's a list of things we'll fix based on what we're hearing from you" as if any one of the devs couldn't have tested the game for longer than 10 minutes to identify their issues.

Better still, I guarantee you most every glitch was picked up and reported by testers, only for them to be completely ignored to meet Ubi's deadline. Everyone on the team already knows all this shit.

It's been like a day and a half, right? ffs, some people are hard to please.

But there are so many bugs that couldn't just be overseen while at least one guy was testing it.
Ubi said - "Lets go gold." Even in the state they surely knew they were shipping it in.

I understand people not wanting to touch Ubi games with a very long stick in the future.

This reeks of Ubi having skipped a lot of QA to have the game out earlier.

They had to get that XB1 bundle out before BF.

That few hundred MB update was pr bullshit?

What did the update do and what does the amount of MB's matter?

Is it 1080p on PS4 yet?
Is it 30 FPS on PS4 yet?
Did they fix the pop-in yet?
Did they fix the NPC instant sex changes yet?
Did they fix the numerous glitches yet?

This shit should never have been released. I am glad that I no longer preorder and didn't get burned on this or Watchdogs. I am just upset at the consumers that keep funding this bullshit.

I think the game is great on so many ways (can be the best AC imo) but needs all the fix it can get on the technical side, let's wait and see.

I got to a point where I lagged off and on. I couldn't believe I was lagging in mid-hang. It almost felt like I went back in time.
I was in a temple and it just kept lagging

Amazing. It's the release day and I have to wait longer for proper patches? When a product is released it should work from the beginning you dumbasses in Ubi!

At this point, how could you possibly want to reward Ubisoft for releasing a broken, horribly performing game that is chuck-full of microtransactions? I cannot possibly imagine reading about all these issues and then thinking "Yeah, this is worth $60".

Shame on you Ubi, shame on you.

Glad they have come out and addressed the issues. Annoyed that the Framerate isn't on the agenda for the next update. And with that I'll be playing other games until they fix that shit. I played it all night last night and it just got unbearable. It just chugs along. Feels like an alpha build I'm playing.

What does this even mean?

I'm not rewarding anyone, I just want to play the game. It works fine and I'm happily enjoying it.

Where is all this coming from? What are you all upset about?

You all don't understand.
Dealing with bugs is part of the game, adding more depth to it.
Remember one of the greatest RPGs of all time - Buggerfall?
Not sure if I am sarcastic or not... =((

What you are experiencing, especially on PS4, goes against 95% of what people have been reporting. Digital Foundry, which does game performance analysis for a living, said the framerate was suspect. I watched Ubi's own pre launch livestream and saw at least 20 plus glitches.

Not saying I don't believe you, but I think your standards are wildly different than most.

IMO Internet is the reason for "beta testing". During PSX and PS2 they had to make a complete game, back then there was no possibility to patch a game. Internet popularity changed everything. Now they can release patches every month with many promises.

ahahahahahahaha

I love how bad this is going. It looks like they looked at this recent QA Test video of the issues people found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Pk...feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_286144565

Maybe a driver or update or two and 5 patches later I'll get the game on PC... Probably won't.

Not to say Ubisoft didn't completely fuck it up, but some of those bugs like the NPCs sliding around with no animations are awesome, though. I kinda like them in games because they're funny. Falling through the ground and the climbing issues are the bad bugs because they detract from the gameplay.

Looks like we found another person who has not played Daggerfall.
