A knee strike isn't just the cap. It can be the upper thigh too. you can do a lot of damage with that part of the leg. If you aren't a fatass, just feel that part of your leg. It's hard as a fucking rock. Or go down to your local Muay Thai gym and take a few.

The fact is the rule involves the target of the knee and incidental contact outside of the knee is not considered illegal.

I said it was curious and unprecedented that the UFC didn't show it multiple times from multiple angles. That's all.

To me, it looks impossible that it couldn't have impacted his chin from that angle. But I've clearly said what you can and cannot see. The knee comes in. It gets obscured by Sonnen's arms. Sonnen's head goes back. That's all you can see. That's all I'm saying I can see.

I'd like to see other angles though. I think it's strange that such a significant strike didn't get the usual UFC treatment.

Some part of his leg may have touched Chaels face, I'll admit it's possible. But really, the damage was done to the body, it's not really close to his face. I think you're reaching.

How can you say 50/50 odds?
Sonnen had his take down and could do nothing.
Silva proved that he could stuff take downs in the second easily.
The moment the bell rang for the second round Silva had complete control.

I didn't watch the fight but going by SunhiLegend's GIFs and talk the last few pages it sounds like Silva absorbed Sonnen's soft as mashed potato punches the first round, waited for Sonnen make a mistake the 2nd round then pounced on him like a rabid tiger, destroying his pride, career, and probably some internal organs. The big difference is those guys had entertaining fighting styles that complemented their mouths. Chael is a grind-it-out decision machine. Even Floyd at least has superlative defense that can be fun to watch. Chael will sit on top of a guy for ages and throw weak strikes until the fight ends. But to each his own.

I only had the first fight to go on. The footage made it look close.

My first exposure to Sonnen was when he beat that one guy and instead of talking about the fight he just had, he pointed to Silva and called him out.

So from that point, because the guy was so ballsy, I followed his matches and the dynamic between him and Silva leading into this match.

I have no idea what the guy's skill/weakness is.

His personality/trash talk is what made me take notice.

Kicks to the face are legal in the UFC right? His thigh does make contact, but he rests his leg into his chest all together. Wasn't really used to damage the head.

Yeah, but he didn't block it. If it was blocked, the fight would have still been standing. He dodged it and caused Chael to start stumbling back which then lead him to trip over Silva's leg.

Can't blame Chael too much for that, he most likely wasn't expecting it to be dodged like that.
