Machida got robbed vs Rampage...even Rampage was surprised and thought he'd lost when they gave him the decision.

But Machida looks prime and ready. My body is ready.

U Wat M8? He's been gifted 1 decision vs Shogun and got robbed vs Rampage & Mr. One Dimensional
Somebody had to say it, and I agree 100%. He was gifted one (key) decision and fights defensively so he's been made troll-bait ever since.

People would do the same with Rashad Evans (Machida and GSP wish they could put people to sleep like Evans can), but for some reason he doesn't seem to have a fan base that cares so much. Or at all.

That is such a weird fucking thing to say considering he's got some of the greatest KOs in the history of the sport.

well he's also been a participant in 3 of the worst fights of the last decade, and he's lost 5 of his last 9 fights.

knockouts in squash fights don't mean shit. Machida is a bigger fraud than Pride era Wand or CroCop.

knockouts of a 48 year old handy randy and a gatekeeper named darth bader?

who ya crappin breh?

next thing you're gonna tell me is that Bruce Lee would be the OWGP champion.

Machida got this. Dream Catcher will be doing just that... catching dreams after Machida is done with him. Looking forward to seeing Jacare do his gator crawl and gator snap after finishing Carmont.

and the Rashad and Munoz and Thiago KO don't count because OH LOOK A BEAR? You don't like him. You aren't a fan of his style. That's fair enough.

But don't argue with the facts. Including the Thiago Silva fight, five of his seven most recent wins have ended via knockout (four of which took knockout of the night honours). Two by decision. Yes, one of those decisions should have been a loss, but if you want to take the Shogun fight away from him, you should give him back the Rampage fight and/or the Phil Davis fight.

We're either going by official decisions or we're not. Lyoto goes for the finish. He doesn't always get it, but when he does it's usually impressive. Like him or hate him.

He won five of his last nine fights. Unless we're second guessing the judges, in which case he won five, maybe six, of his last nine fights.

It's the same shit people do to Michael Bisping. Constantly going on about the bullshit decision that went his way, and ignoring the bullshit decisions that went against him.

unified rules. deal with them. if machida doesn't do anything all fight, and gets out gameplanned by a wrestler, how is he more deserving of the W than QRJ or Mr. 1derful?

its pretty clear he lost both of those fights based on the rule set they compete by in the UFC.

Then you have to deal with him winning the first Shogun fight. You can't have it both ways.

Nothing in the unified rules says a takedown near the end of a round is more important than out striking your opponent. Yes, lots of judges view things that way, but it isn't based on anything in the rules.

Nonsense, broham. The fight took place entirely on the feet and Shogun outstruck Ryuto pretty handily.

Let's just be honest here and say Machida is under .500 since 2010.

another pretty terrible card, but there are some fun guys on it that could make it exciting. looking forward to seeing machida, mousasi, jacare, silva, and oliveira at least.

If cheeda thought getting choked the fuck out by jon was bad i cant even imagine how he's going to feel when Weidman pounds him like a cheerleader at prom night.

Machida turned down a rematch with Bones with like 5 weeks notice (as opposed to Jones turning down the Chael fight, which he eventually won by domination, on 8 days notice, before you Machida stans bring that up), which is probably why he is relegated to crappy Fox Sports One cards that will draw about as many viewers as a rerun of Bar Rescue. Uncle Dana knows Lyoto ain't about that true bushido life. Dude is a legit coward.

but come on guys machida was closest to beating jon jones
The closest non-gormandised middleweight. It sits in between decisioning prime multiple UFC title holder BJ Penn and KO'ing Ace Franklin before Anderson ever dreamed of it in his list of accomplishments.

Title should have been "Dances with Dragons" because no way Machida will try and fight Mousasi.
LMAO.

Mousasi's good enough to beat Machida on the feet, so I'm hoping this turns out more like the Shogun fight(s) than say, Hendo or Rampage.

Are you saying that knocking out Certified Can Ryan Bader and a 58 year old Randy Couture isn't impressive?

What about Hashad and Thiago Silva?

I know you're trying to be cute by saying 5. But if you're gonna give him an L for Shogun 1 than arguably you have to give him a W for both Rampage and Davis.

Rampage had some cool knockouts years ago too.

Munoz?

Most people thought Machida lost to Shogun in the first fight. I know I did. Most people thought Machida beat Davis.

Yes, the first one was more egregious than the second, but both are still generally considered to have been bad calls by the judges. Hell, Machida vs Davis made Shoguns top 5 bullshit decisions of 2013.

Both decisions should have gone the other way, even if the Shogun had been more dominant in the fight against Machida than Machida was against Davis. If we're being consistent we should either be reversing none of the decisions, or reversing all of the decisions that most people thought should have gone the other way.

Not just cherry picking to try to make Machida look bad. That's what you guys are doing. You're ignoring his knockouts of people you can't easily call cans. You're ignoring the controversial decisions that went against him and just talking about the one that went for him.

I bet, right now, you think Mousasi is going to stomp Machida. If Machida wins, I bet you'll be saying 'Well Mousasi is a nobody piece of crap, of course Machida won'.

It's quite possible to separate your personal dislike of a fighter from your assessment of their achievements. Machida was near the top of the 205 division before dropping to middleweight. He earned his title shot and cleanly won that belt fairly against another fighter that had earned his title shot and cleanly won it. Then he lost it to Shogun. Then some bad decisions pushed him out of the division.

Then he knocked out Munoz in impressive fashion in his middleweight debut. Where he shakes out in that division is yet to be seen. Facts are facts.

I hope Mousasi wins but it'd be pretty cool to see how Weidman would obliterate Machida and his cowardly tactics.

I would actually love to see that fight because I can't quite pin it down. I think Weidman has the power and base to put Machida on blast, but, Machida doesn't usually get caught by fighters with similar characteristics. Hope it happens.

If Weidman was a natural 205, and the fight was fighting 205 Machida, I think he'd win pretty comfortably. With regular Weidman... I'm not sure. I'd love to see that fight. I think it'd be pretty competitive... but I think Weidman would still be (rightly) favored.

Mousasi is the real deal, I doubt he'll lose to Machida.

Seriously. I mean haven't these people seen his destruction of the great Ilir Latifi?

Or his amazing performance vs. The Dean of Mean Keith Jardine?

How about his submission win over Mike "Mak" Kyle?

I mean shit, that's a murderer's row right there.

Figures Pauly would be an incognito machida stan.

I'll gladly admit I'm a Machida fan. His bad fights are among the worst, but when he's on his fights are great to watch. Also a fan of Mousasi. Gotta love those guys who insist on believing that judges will suddenly be okay with beating the hell out of a dude who takes you down repeatedly. He's like Nick Diaz with better kickboxing, worse BJJ, and less Stockton-ness. Plus the Brazil cards are always great. Whether the UFC puts a Brazilian fighter up against a contest winner or the crowd goes completely silent when a local guy gets outclassed. Entertainment every fight.
