I would imagine the all star saturday night stuff (namely the dunk contest) pulls a lot of the same crowd (young 18-34 year old males) that would also tune into the UFC. Most bars and restaurants will probably opt to show the dunk contest as well.
You're bound to run into this problem when you run an event nearly every single week.

edit: to be fair I've heard they are trying to respond to all the negative criticism the dunk contest has received and are doing a new format this year. haven't read much about it tho.

It will draw far better ratings than a UFC card on Fox Sports One though. The dunk contest is not a ratings moster, but neither is the UFC these days. And the NBA has far more cache with that audience IMO.
I dunno IIRC dunk contest gets some pretty horrible ratings. but yeah UFC isn't all that popular right now either.
I'm guessing that the olympics will smash both

I can watch Machida feint punches and kicks, choosing the precise moment to strike, pretty much all day long. His technique and discipline are as exciting to watch for me as your all-out brawls.

Sometimes he takes longer to strike, but again, knowing that every single one of his attacks is so calculated makes the anticipation leading up to the first punch or kick that much more engaging for me to watch.
