Yeah I think I'll hold on another year then maybe give this PC to my son as his first pcSame here but I will just pull the trigger sometime in 2025, new CPU + Mobo + Ram.
Was he part of some recent Intel layoffs? His last post was October 10th. I wonder what happened.
Things started fell apart when they (deservedly) lost the Apple contract.I still couldn't wrap my head around it simply because how ahead of everyone they used to be. Even their last offerings were competitive somehow but now?! Jeez they are alive simply because of the US gov.
So do we have any idea specifically when the 9800X3D will be going on sale on the 7th? Does anyone recall how it worked with the last generation of AMD processors?
This is the first time I've been in the market on day one for one of these, so I want to make sure I'm prepared.
Ordered a am5 board and ddr5, gonna get to Microcenter about 30 minutes before they open Thursday. Shouldn't have any issues getting one right?

Just get a 5700x3d or 5800x3d, whichever is cheaper. They are still very competent CPUs.Thinking about switching my 5600x, really don't feel like swapping the mobo as well.
Usually reviews are published at 14:00 GMT, because of NDAs.
I don't know if this also limits when retailers can put these CPUs on sale.
Will wait for 9950X3D…I’m upgrading for sure even if it’s not crazy uplift
This seal the deal fuck the 9800X3D16-core AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPU mentioned in Gigabyte press release - VideoCardz.com
AMD Ryzen 9000 X3D with 16 cores This information is hardly a surprise to anyone here, yet it somehow missed our feeds, and it might be important to share. According to a Gigabyte press release, AMD is set to launch a 16-core CPU within the Ryzen 9000 series, equipped with 3D V-Cache. This CPU...videocardz.com
Even if both have 3D v cache, if a program uses cores on both ccd it still incurs a latency penalty. The 8 core is just the way to go unless you have a real productivity need for the extra core imo.If the 12 and 16 cores X3D cpu's again have only extra cache on 1CCX and the other gets disabled when gaming then I'd disappointed personally
Then basically not much point for just gaming. I do want to see some productivity and gaming benches overall though.Even if both have 3D v cache, if a program uses cores on both ccd it still incurs a latency penalty. Hopefully with zen 6 we can get 10 cores per ccd or something.
