wow.
I'm a huge Reuben fan too. This keeps getting weirder, dude.

OK, I can top this even. I bumped into Guy Davis as well, the old Reuben drummer. Funny thing is, about 5 years back I was away from my job long term for like 6 months and Guy temped in my seat, completely randomly. I didn't know until I got back to work and my colleagues told me that there was a kid in the office in a band and his name was Guy. And I was like "As in Reuben? They are literally my favourite band in the country!" but I never got to meet him to say hi. So I told him that tonight too and it freaked him out.

I loved Reuben so much. I was even in one of their early singles in the inlay, you can make me out by by tattoo, it was taken at the westy in Aldershot.

Yep, it's been a real day of it :D

So I looked at the first page of this thread, and noticed that J is still banned. He was banned for 3 months on 11th May, shouldn't he be unbanned by now? J?

No, Meadows grassed him up for having an alt. I think that's a permaban.

I'll find something to do... Stress is everywhere. Dont have to drown it in booze.

Stress? From what?!? You're 18, live a little!

Damn, teenagers are getting lamer and lamer.

A friend of mine, Abby, went out with Jon - the bassist.
I've met all Jon, Guy and Jamie a few times - real cool dudes :)

That's awesome - which single were you in? Scared of the Police?

Maturity, bitches.
J is gone. He was either going to be banned for the alt account or for what he was planning on posting in a certain thread. Basically this is what he wished for in the end.

Yeah man it must be. I have since lost the single which really sucks since I have all the others. But it was the high point of my young life back then!

I loved all the Reuben guys, they were a class band. I was big into Hundred Reasons as well. Funnily enough I bumped into Paul the other day at the westy while wearing an HR t-shirt, I felt a bit embarrassed. But I'm very proud of our local rock stars. Nice chaps all of them.

He needs another alt then, and he needs to be a little more circumspect about it...

You should listen to a friend of mine who is also a big Reuben fan... not that it remotely the same music...

Does your band have any demos online or anything?

Hey that's pretty cool, I dig the influences they mention too, I'll have to keep an eye out for them in future.

No demos up just yet though I'm afraid, this was only our second gig in this config and the songs are all brand new. We did make a trailer for our gigs though, as a mini teaser as what to expect:

Oh my sweet summer child, you don't even know what stress is yet. Enjoy being 18 (if that is indeed you age), it lasts exactly 365 days and then it's over :D
I never said I knew what stress is now. I was saying that I am aware that it will hit in the future. Of course I do not know anything abou toil and stress now, I'm not that old, after all!

Sorry if it came out as if I was really stressed at the moment.

Teenagers can get stressed too and don't let anybody tell you otherwise!

I think people tend to trivialise what kids go through - yes, as you get more responsibility, you get more stress, but that doesn't make it any less stressful going through exams and shit!

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
If you're studying a science or engineering subject best start drinking. Or you're gonna lose it from the stress.

I've already learned this, it doesn't take long to discover. When it's not going right god damn can it be infuriating, but when that code finally works, OH LORD JESUS.

Also Louis C.K is the best comedian.

Oh and study C++ or Java. You'll need it if you want to do Physics or Chemistry. My mates a MA student for Theoretical physics and spends more time coding than I do (Comp Sci)!!

I like having a couple of relaxed drinks, where you're not forcing anything and you're chilling. getting pissed though for me though is just a huge chore and never really enjoyable. just more of a social obligation nowadays.

Today was a good day. Got my A level results , and I'm now off to uni! Didn't meet predicted grades(physics exam board docked coursework marks, so I "only" got an A, compared to an A*), but who cares.

Man, this feels good.

P.S- Dave Chapelle is probably the best stand-up.

Congratulations on your results and getting into Uni!

Man I'm so glad it's Friday. Spending tomorrow in a park in Croydon with a load of mates, having a big BBQ, and it's going to be a beautiful day for it.

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

Friday, spent some time with the parents followed by a lads day out to watch The Expendables 2 on Saturday.

Congrats to siddhu and all the A-Level students that succeeded in their exams. Enjoy 1st year of uni! Don't take it too seriously as things don't get stressful until 3rd year (it certainly didn't when I was in uni anyway)

I agree with this although I find it hard to give any credit for The Ricky Gervais Show. All he is doing is prodding Karl with a stick and hoping he strikes gold.

This is true. Same applies for an Idiot Abroad too. Karl Pilkington is clearly the one providing the laughs.

Well I have an old friend over who had to take some exams. Those are over so he's invited me to meet some of his friends.

seconded.

But in fairness, 3rd year was only stressful because I did so poorly on 2nd.

I remember some people crying at the first set of results because they didn't get firsts. They obviously didn't get the memo that those marks aren't worth much.

Wedding today, Hopefully a house party tomorrow. Working on Sunday.

If i can't get a house party tomorrow i will buy in some beers and play GEARS OF WAR 3 for hours drinking/socialising on xbox live. I done that a lot when i was younger.

Today marks my seventh day clean from BENZO FURY.

Subjective effects
Increased happiness, euphoria, extreme mood lift
Feelings of peace and love toward others
Increased self-acceptance
Closed eye visuals, mental imagery
Ability to discuss topics with others that would not normally be discussed
Increased intimacy and closeness with others

Il miss the little fella for sure. But life goes on.

Am rushing over to a friend's place straight after work to have a couple of Necromunda gang fights, which should be epic. I've had a bit of a losing streak since...we started playing Necromunda, but I just outfitted my gang leader with a grenade launcher and bought grenades for a few more gangers, so hopefully I'll be able to cause some mayhem.

Tomorrow I'll be sleeping in because I've been absolutely knackered this week, then I'm off to a different friend's place because he's been dying to play the DOOM boardgame. After that, I might actually end up playing more Necromunda.

Sunday is going to be split between tearing up my back garden (getting rid of slabs and breaking up the concrete floor) and hopefully FINALLY getting a Mun landing on Kerbal Space Program.

Fucking. Geeky. Weekend.

Love it :)

I've had some nights out in which I came back swearing that I wouldn't drink again.

I used to say that a lot. Would then be drinking a few hours later to get rid of the hangover. Now I just don't even care...

I also have 0 idea what these a level tests are...but congrats if you did good i guess.

anyone else watching 'Exploring China: A Culinary Adventure’ on the beeb at the moment?

It's worth watching Ken Hom and Ching He Huang basically go around China and, as well as obviously cooking awesome food, look at the way things have changed.

It's great:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01lwkp3/Exploring_China_A_Culinary_Adventure_Episode_1/

DUDE!

The only thing I watch on BBC iplayer, love that programme. Hom is a don. The woman can get a bit annoysome though. Sichuan is my kind of place.

This thread appears to be a good place to express one's prejudices about other parts of England.

I do that in this thread.

I like to have a drink when I go out, but I never have more than two pints usually. Partly because I'm a lightweight, but mainly because I'm not big on being drunk.

I'm handing in my bloke licence as we speak.

I used to binge drink, but these days 4-5 pints and I am usually done for the night. If I eat (like at a wedding) I can usually do more and stay pretty sober.

Last time I binged we worked out we had 7 pints and a bottle of red wine each and I threw up on my mates (thankfully tiled) kitchen floor at 3am when I woke up on his sofa in there. That was a few months back...

In 2006 I had a handful of drink-related incidents that made me refocus my drink habits. I was the wedding drunk in one of them - which led to me passing out in the bathroom and having the manager of the venue kick in the door expecting to see me shooting up/snorting. Then there was another one when whilst walking home from a night out I fell over a crash barrier, rolled down a hill and KO'd myself. This was the night before my niece's Christening and lead everyone to believe I had got into a fight as well as leading to getting scorn to this day from my sister for ruining the day by sporting the highly fashionable black-eye-and-cuts look in the family photos. Ah, good times. :p

Nowadays with the lack of drinking buddies and with being in a relationship with a girl who doesn't drink I've toned down my drinking significantly. But the danger still remains: When I drink I drink very fast, for the purpose of getting into the "zone" and I still expect to hold my own and recover like I'm 18 years old. Combine that with only drinking 3-5 times a year and it's a disaster zone whenever I'm in a pub/club as I've gotten noticeably more lightweight. Not being able to get pished with my friends is actually the No. 1 thing I miss about Scotland really.

Wearing a cotton shirt to a wedding because I'm a Cuban gangster.

Fly over and get a swally with the troops industrian. People can't really drink outside of the UK if you catch my drift.

I don't drink. None of my siblings handle drink well, so I doubt I would either. My father doesn't drink either and it's just about the only thing we have in common. I'm off to uni too this year. Second time around for me, didn't enjoy it last time and had to drop out for health reasons. but I can afford a small place of my own so I think I'll be happier.

Not much planned for the weekend. I'm going to watch the first Expendables and start the Rocky series which I haven't watched since I was about 12. I bought some mediocre shooters that were cheap so I'll play those for laughs.

Their other advertisement for the Paralympics is a bit dodgy imo. Slowly pans into the stadium down into a darkish corridor and has something like 'thanks for the warm up'. Gives off a subhuman 'we've hidden them away until now' vibe. Made me feel a bit uneasy.
