Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
People who cycle on roads should get a mandatory year long prison sentence and a public lashing.

But It's like my only source of exercise at the moment :(

it was the kind of casual/random posting that kicked off with the forced timedog vs blame space debate. it caught on and some users pushed it too far. quite easy to ignore since eggman was juniored and the vote died off.

then again, some may call me a joke poster but i consider myself just to be sarcastic and british.

Ergh. The whole Blamespace, Timedog, Devolution stuff is so shit. They just LOOOOOOVE the attention.
Maybe not so much blame space, but the other 2, ergh.

I still don't get the Timedog/Blamespace thingymcjig. Blamespace did submit that funny post of him pretending to piss on a print out of someone's avatar but has he done much since then? And as for Timedog I don't really know. He talks on a tinychat a lot and something about pizza.

Yeah, I didn't really bother to follow that saga of OT.

So London-GAF, I'll be one of you in around 45 days, due to university. I've got to ask: any tips on how to, for example, travel efficiently, and save some money? The last time I lived in London was 10 years ago, and a shitload has happened since then.

Apply for a student Oyster card - your uni will have to approve it. It's still reasonably pricey to travel, but much less than it would be otherwise.

Which uni are you going to?

I voted for blame space. He's got to be one of the funniest Gaffers, if not THE funniest.

TimeDog's pretty cool too, although I don't really see him as the main alpha-dog that I think other people build him up as being.

yeah I like devo. she always puts effort into her posts and is reasonable. i know some gaffers don't like her defending women's rights, but hey-ho this is the Internet after all!

Which is weird because I though male + internet + reputation = white knight.

The White Knight probably feels under threat by a female that stands up for themselves, because if women do that, what's the purpose of a white knight standing up for themselves?!

When keepin it real goes wrong. Very, very wrong.
Blame space is a great poster on the NeoGAf.com if only more posters were as chill as him.

Cabin in the woods is so fucking shit.

I am unreliably informed that the best bet is to hang around Waterloo Station shortly after rush hour for free lifts to places (not necessarily where you want to go), free entertainment (not necessarily what you want to do) and free money (if you do it).

Does that also include free jail time for soliciting? :O

Imperial. Damn, it's expensive, but I suppose it is south kensington, where a 2-bed flat goes for £10 million...

Do I get a free barrister with that?

I'm ok, being a home student and all, but I don't know how the international students manage it. They pay, what, £18k a year?

Oh dear, admitting to being an old timer again. There weren't any fees when I was at college (or at least there were, but they were paid by the government not by me). Now, there may be something similar for at least some international students - just because the fee is high doesn't mean it is the student who is paying it, certainly some come on government sponsorships and suchlike. So you can't necessarily equate the level of fees with the how-do-they-manage-to-live stuff. Can't necessarily discount it either of course.

With the large amount of asian internationals on my course I have found his to be mostly true.

A large proportion of students at my university are Asian. They're almost all dressed in designer gear, live in the nicer accommodation, eat out lots, go out all the time, latest gadgets, and many have cars, go traveling each break/summer etc.

Do they talk to us natives at all? At my uni they mostly all have their own groups and don't talk to anyone else. The one guy who didn't had a Louis Vuitton messenger bag and I think he said he was a supermarket manager at home but something might have been lost in translation there.

The majority mostly stick to their groups for most of the time, much like the Greeks/Cypriots or Middle Eastern students. Obviously they'll socialise with everyone else if the situation calls for it (classes, nights out, flat mates). There are plenty though (especially the traveling types or those from international schools) who mingle with everyone they meet, and are some of the most sociable people I've seen.

I heard one odd story from campus that every year you have one or two Asian students who are so loaded, that on moving out of halls, leave a lot of their stuff 'for the cleaners' as they can't be bothered taking it all back. Clothes, furniture, TVs, etc. Not sell, just ditch. Crazy stuff.

And why are the Greeks/Cypriots obsessed with Starbucks? At any one time there are 20+ in the Starbucks on Campus.

How do you have enough Cypriots at your university to stereotype them?

Oh we have a decent number. There's enough for separate Greek and Cypriot societies, but they do work together a lot I think on events, mingle with each other etc.

I do the British thing anyway and lump them together.

I was told it's because they prefer to drink coffee instead of having drinks at a pub when meeting up with friends. coffee = catching up on gossip and friendly greets. drinks = partying and smashing up plates.

I recall someone was asking where David Bowie was during the olympic ceremony.

Hah, you've never been to North London. People who you think are Greek are actually Cypriots, almost all of them. Very few Greek people I know from school or college are actually from Greece, almost all of them are from Cyprus.

David Bowie, The Sex Pistols and The Rolling Stones all reportedly turned down the chance to appear in the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony, according to The Guardian.

I did, still doesn't say why though, rumour is he got fat (and has heart issues). I had heard the Stones turned them down, Sex Pistols is news to me.

Company network was down since the weekend, it was like being in the days before electricity. Thankfully it's up now and I can resume normal public service.

David Bowie turned up in an episode of Extras, clearly Gervais pays more than the Olympic Committee.
