BBC BREAKING:

Essex Police advise residents to stay indoors after reports of a lion being seen in a field in the St Osyth area

----

I'm not making this up

I'm not watching it yet, but I saw the trailer a while back with the mock 'suspect chase'. Parts were good, parts seemed cheesy. The sign "Datdere Yute Club" got a massive laugh from me though.

It was definitely cheesy, but I thought it was a lot of fun. These fucking tragic ITV cop shows have needed the piss being taken out of them for a while now, and this does that and then some.

Working all weekend. Comes of having your own business on the town's busiest weekend of the year.

But life in a bead shop isn't as dull as it might sound. Got an urgent requirement this afternoon from a lady customer for some custom nipple-rings. Luckily the shop was otherwise quiet so was able to go through the requisite process without interruption (it is essential to assess size, springiness, bounceback and length of dangle - all of which I made up on the spot but with a straight face and professional attitude). Luckily remembered to use flush-cut rather than bevel pliers or there might have been a disaster.

Apparently we are being recommended to others.

Not sure if this is a good thing or not.

I simultaneously like and hate Charlie Brooker.

On one hand, his Newswipe series was fantastic, while on the other hand, he's a miserable bellend.

Did somebody say Charlie Brooker? guy is absolutely hilarious and I love Newswipe so I'll definitely watch his new show once I get home. Currently on the train to Glasgow from the fringe festival in Edinburgh where I had a TGI Friday Angus burger and watched "Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells for Two". Never thought I'd experience multiple eargasms in the space of an hour.

Have fun in Amsterdam Kentpaul and don't forget to check out the windmills and art museums.

I just got tired of Brooker, felt like the same old every time.

EDIT: Ohhh I didn't know that Touch of Cloth show was his, thought it looked pretty funny. I'll check it out.

I followed him on Twitter for a while and eventually decided to stop since his Tweet were no where as good as his Newswipe material.

I like a lot of James Bond themes. Was given a CD as a kid with all of them up to but not including GoldenEye (it was brand new at that point).

You Only Live Twice was one of my first favourites though.

Your favourite James Bond actor, film and title theme song. Go!

Actor: Daniel Craig followed by Timothy Dalton
Film: Goldeneye followed closely by Casino Royale. (Martin Campbell ftw!)
Theme Song: A View to a Kill by Duran Duran followed by Chris Cornell's "You know my Name"

Actor: Dalton, followed tightly by Craig
Film: Living Daylights, then FRWL / Casino
Theme: Living Daylights

Dalton was Fleming's Bond, not Connery's / Moore's.

Roger Moore. I know Sean Connery is the quintessential Bond, but Moore is my Bond, and I love the cheeky humour he brought to it.
Hard to pick a favourite film, maybe A View To A Kill because of Walken.
Song, again there are many great songs but I really love The Living Daylights.

Oh, not that Welsh one? Jones the Bond. Double Oh THEVEN.

Actor: Moore
Film: Live and Let Die or Spy Who Loved Me
Song: Spy Who Loved Me (purely because of the Alan Partridge scene)

Mathew Street Festival canceled due to bad weather....ffs!

Bond you say?
Actor: Craig
Film: Casino Royale (Goldeneye second, You Only Live Twice third)
Theme: can't decide- Live and Let Die, View to a Kill, You Know My Name? Hard choice.

Agree with this 100%. Die Another Day is a song I hate to love, but my god do I love it.

EDIT: You might be being facetious, it's hard to tell, but I straight up love the song :D

EDIT 2: Apparently the video cost $6 million. Ridiculous.

no it's a guilty pleasure of mine too.

btw people, I've only really seen Brosnan/Craig bond movies so I don't know about the older ones

Gaf you gotta help me, I am being driven insane. There is a music track I've heard a few times that I really like, but I have no idea what it's called or who it's by. It's kinda got a techno dubstep type feel to it, no lyrics on the bit of it I remember, and I'm pretty sure it was used for some of the bbc coverage of the olympics. And yes, I have been googling it all fucking day with no luck. Not much to go on I know, but Gaf you so awesome, surely someone can dig up something?

I didn't watch much Olympic coverage, and this song is not really trance or dubstep, but could it be Midnight City by M83 (which I definitely heard a few times)?

Could also be an instrumental version of Emeli Sande - Heaven

EDIT: I'm bored, and the vagueness of your description has me frustrated - any more info you can give?

EDIT 2: The only dubstep song I can find associated with the Olympics is this, and I'm going to assume (hope!) it's not that.

Can you find anywhere on the coverage on the BBC site that has the music playing?

No it's neither of those, it's way more dubstep sounding than that.

Been looking but no dice so far. I know for a fact they played it to the crowd when I was at the mountain biking before the race started, and I comented to my friends about it but none of them knew who it was.

I've been listening to dubstep tracks to try and find it, and the closest thing it reminds me of is maybe stuff by modestep, but it's not any of their tracks I've listened to so far.

I'm going to start thinking I imagined it.

When you say you're fairly sure it was used in the Olympics, given that it's the primary way we have a hope of finding this song, how sure are you :p At least I know to look for proper dubstep now (which the BBC would surely not use!)

EDIT: Alex Clare?

Film: Three way tie between For Your Eyes Only, The Living Daylights and Goldeneye
Theme Song: You Only Live Twice

These preferences tend to change every few months or so!

Well I'd definitely heard it a few times, and there's no where I would have heard it except on tv, and all I'd been watching pretty much was the Olympics, so I'm fairly sure it was used at some point. Or it may have been an advert, but I don't think so.

Not Alex Clare, although I do love that song.

Ok the only other thing I can do is give you the main melody from the bit I remember. Using some sort of dubstep sound it goes

E up to Gsharp, up to Dsharp up to E
Then E up to Gsharp, up to C up to Csharp.

That won't help at all if no one here is musical though.

Finished watching the first episode of A Touch of Cloth.

Overall its very promising, with the jokes being a very scattershot affair. Its kind of something that channel 4 would make.

If Sky keeps poaching talent from the terrestrial channels the tv landscape could change a lot in the next 5 years. But the talent will have to make a choice between Sky (more money) or terrestrial (bigger audiences).

At least in the US, the shift of talent from network to cable (largely the same as terrestrial and Sky respectively) has already occurred - in fact, it did so a long time ago. I think in the next 5-10 years, the bigger change will be the shift towards online methods of consumption. Netflix is financing original content, and if successful, others are bound to follow suit.

Man, that squatter thread has made me angry. Not the discussion, the fucking squatters.

Also, interview day tomorrow, gotta be up at half 6 to get my train to Newcastle. Nervesss.

Good luck Cindres. You better hope one of the interview questions isn't "which dubstep song was Musha trying to identify?"

As for the squatting thread, what exactly is the law regarding squatters? I have been under the impression for a long time that if they squat in an 'unoccupied' house for a certain amount of time, you have to go through a complicated legal process to evict them?

EDIT: Ah, so it's the precise lack of criminality that causes the issue - provided they somehow gain access without breaking a lock or window (or, at least, claim not to have done so). So you have to go through the civil courts and not rely on police assistance. To be fair, the situation does seem ridiculous.
