You should have saved time and money and just bought one at Matalan. £40 the last time I checked.

That's pretty good money there. I got an M&S suit this week for £100 and thought it was a good deal. Dark grey and black close stripes with a charcoal shirt and a darker grey tie. I looked like a fucking assassin (if you get fat assassins) and felt like a badass all day. Aww yeah. Even the interviewer remarked how sharp I was looking :)

I've gotten suits tailored in HK and Mumbai. It's incredible how much better a properly tailored suit fits and looks. Once you've got a constant size go straight to Asia. I cannot recommend it enough.

Already here. ;)

It's just a choice of Taiwan, Hong Kong or Korea in where to get my suit now.

I honestly don't know how you do it. The last thing on my mind when I'm drunk is posting on GAF.

Pretty much every post I make after 6pm is under the influence of weed though.

Its easy man when i drink in the house i use my PC for music ect. So i'm pretty much sitting here anyway.

I'm a modern day nerd.

also keep in mind i grew up with the internet, so i have been posting on the internet drunk side by side with getting drunk in the real world.

Minimum alcohol price planned in England and Wales.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17482035

Good riddance.

I think obese people should also have additional tax levied on them for being such a strain to the NHS.

But what the fuck is wrong with this country? Reducing the upper band tax by 5p? This government is pathetic. They only care about the elite whilst the rest of the population suffers. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. All while this country is in serious, serious debt.

The 50p tax rate for > £150,000 above was perfectly fine. Yet, they've cut child benefit support for any salary over £50,000. It boggles the mind. They should have kept the child benefit and kept the upper tax rate.

Many clinicians have opposed to the NHS bill too. It's a sad state when a public service, funded by the public, is giving 49% inclination towards private patients.

What a terrible country this is. Ideally David Cameron and his cronies would get shipped off to the jungles of Africa.. I cannot believe I voted for Lib Dem last year. Time to return to Labour. They can't be any worse than the current crop of cunts.

It's good to see increased taxation on products that are harmful to health.

Too bad the same cannot be forced upon the likes of Mcdonalds and Burger King, who have probably made a significant contribution to the huge strain that obesity has on the NHS.

It baffles me how fat people expect treatment without putting any effort in allievating their self-inflicted disease. It reminds me of how smokers come into the hospital, asking for treatment for COPD whilst refusing to give up smoking. Or alcoholics who refuse to give up the drink whilst they have impeding liver failure from cirrhosis.

That sucks. I remember when tesco had to two litres of blackthorn cider for a euro, it was probably the best thing ever.

you can get 2 litres of white chemical cider for about 2 quid in my local corner shop. so the jakes will still be able to get fucked for cheap.

I for one will be drinking Bud wiser tonight because i only drink beer now a days.

Unlike cigarettes, even fast food like this has nutritional value in a well planned diet.

Happy birthday you old misery guts. Think about the cake rule - you buy cake once a year, but you get FREE CAKE however many times a year you have colleagues. I get free cake about 7 times a year. And as a double bonus, I never work my birthday (they're depressing enough!) so I often get away with not having to do the cake thing.

Fucking A.

Thank you.

I spose I have access to free cake as many times as I have colleagues, but I never have any. Way back in this thread somewhere I mentioned that I've likely irreparably fucked myself up by not eating during the day (dunno, just don't get hungry till the evening).

I too usually have my B'day off, and this is the first time since working here that I haven't booked it off as we're too busy.

I've settled for not telling anyone that I work with that it's my b'day. Thanks to things that have happened in the past I'm kinda soured on my own b'day. Others are fine, but I hate mine.

Smokers and drinkers contribute more financially than they take out already, let's tax them even more!

to be honest, I was joking with regards to maccies and BK.

however, alcohol and cigarretes directly cause disease so there is no question with regards to tax.

to be honest, nothing irritates me more to high hell than smokers. simply because they are (slowly) killing me whilst they choose to suffer from pulmonary disease and lung cancer. public smoking should be banned.

smokers have no regards for others at the expense of their short term pleasure (from cigarettes).

Reorganise the NHS as follows: You pay a monthly Healthcare Tax based on a yearly medical exam. If you fail the medical exam you pay more. If you're a shining beacon of health you pay less.

Right now our system is all stick, no carrot. People who live decent lives and keep themselves in order should be rewarded.

Taking care of yourself is its own reward. People would rather have a healthy, peaceful life with a few vices, than having to go to hospital every week due to a crippling drug habit that's messed up their heart or lungs. No-one wants to go to hospital.

Mandatory health checks hurt everyone.

That's awfully magnanimous of you.

Freedom of choice. man. I try to buy cigarettes from people who import them tax free when i can.

I mix my tobacco with weed for some strange reason i love it.

car drivers have no regards for others when they pollute the air.

Sounds an awful lot like health insurance.

Not only was the 50p rate raising a "mere" £1billion (while Labour said it would raise £2.5billion) it was reducing Britain's competitive advantage. Tons of City firms were threatening moves to Spain and the like, my employer included. The government has instead said they plan to fill the budgetary hole with a crackdown on loopholes and encouraging businesses with reduced corporate taxes, which are already amongst the lowest in Europe. If one were to factor in National Insurance, high earners (above £150K) would be paying marginal tax rates above 50 percent, and that is outrageous.

Are you sure this is the same British public we're talking about here?

Government mandated health insurance. Similar to the Korean and Taiwanese models I've experienced.

And before anyone asks: I'm a socialist.

Can't speak for everyone, but I know that the NHS is the greatest thing about this country bar none. We should be looking to improve the 'universal' part and not charge those that need it most any more.

My parents are nurses and I was rather sick as a baby and from 1-6 years old. You'll find no arguments about that from me.

When the illness is self-inflicted due to lifestyle choices I have very little sympathy.

It's too complicated to try and quantify and rate it all because there are too many variables, and it's rarely as simple as 'you did this to yourself'. In any case, you will always end up punishing the generally healthy normal populace.

Just noticed today that there is an electric car charging point being installed in one of the car parks about town. It won't get any use but its nice to see it I suppose.

Sitting in a canteen, waiting for my HR contact to arrive for the week's evaluation. Going to try to get another week's placement out of her, but I doubt I'll be successful there due to how strict non-paying placement laws are now.

Aye seeing more and more of these about, few on campus up at Newcastle, saw some at the Metro Centre I think too.

As for my weekend, as I said working 11:00 - probably about 02:00 tomorrow. Get to be down at the ground for the footy but it's still gonna be painful, apparently we're doing a meal of some sort for a rowdy lot tomorrow night.
Gotta pop down to Halford's to get some lights for me bike so I can ride back from work tomorrow but I think a stop at Rhythm and Booze is necessary on the way back as it is a Friday. Though I was just at the pub with me mates, don't reckon I'm quite in the right frame of mind to be riding a bike at peak hours.

Didn't know what to do for dinner tonight, rang bloke, decision made, Havester it is. That's one thing I do admire in you men folk, the ability to make an instant decision.

I grabbed chicken sandwiches and a four pack of cider.

About a 7/10 on the dinner decisions rating scale.

Drop the chicken sarnies and raise it to 8/10.

Personally, I think I'll be going with a tall glass of iced tea and a joint for dinner. I've eaten far too much already today.
