lol haggar really is a terrifying character. as soon as he comes in people refuse to engage me even though they have x factor activated. the damage haggar can do off a throw is awesome.

they should make half the cast really boring? or they should add in weird stutters/freezes for each hit of a combo? or they should make the team based aspect of the game nearly meaningless and superfluous?

I seriously can't believe they have "dlc combos" in that game. That isn't going to help anyone new get better at the game. Can't wait for the Final Fantasy edition, where you press turtle and the AI plays the match out, defensively, for you.

SFXTK essentially has auto-combos. If you press LP+HK or LK+HP, the game will do a fixed, preset combo, at the cost of 1 gauge and 90% damage scale. It's useless though, and if anything limits execution, as some inputs can be problematic, and the shortcuts can't be disabled.

I'm not expecting anything from Capcom at this point, other than stupidity and heartache.

And I believe there's a cutoff time of one month before EVO for DLC characters to be allowed, although I haven't memorized the ruling.

Why?

I mean there's been a lot of nutty decisions regarding the game's development and post-launch upkeep (taking from Vanilla here), but overall it's nothing that wouldn't have been solved with Capcom just giving the guy his breathing room.

there is a ton of other stupid bullshit he let slide that i don't feel like mentioning. lets just say i don't really respect his decision making. really x factor is enough reason for me to never have him make another capcom fighting game again. you have no idea how much i fucking despise it.

Would probably stop playing Marvel if Ono got a hold of it. It would be too fair, turrible characters would get in (ie the Twin shitheads - I'm sure he'd find a way), and the MARVEL would be gone. This is an Ono Marvel.

Niitsuma made TvC: UAS -- he can handle any fighter he wants IMO. He's come really close to making VS games pretty damn balanced -- his top tier just tends to be a little ridiculous but not even so in Ultimate really, everyone can fight.

Really scared for Darkstalkers btw. I don't know if Ono can not screw it up. Fearing for Hsien-Ko especially :lol

I'd love to see Baroque make a comeback >_> Now that was a system mechanic. Could live without mega crash, I prefer the guard cancel of XF. Maybe if they fixed Mega Crash :p

X-Factor is bad, but not that bad. Two of your complaints were also solved long ago. You should go into detail. It's not like you'll be flamed to hell here.

really? well cant really blame you, sometimes the game is dumb as fuck but at the end its fun.

and im also really scared of what ono could make of darkstalkers 4. if he could only just update the sprites or use mt framework and make them look really good but sticking with how savior played, i would buy it on all consoles.
 
Do the 360 and PS3 even have enough RAM to handle that? I don't see how it would be possible on those consoles. Sounds like a job for the Wii U, 720, PS4 or a PC.

maybe in marvel 4. i've been thinking lately that maybe i should drop zero for hawkeye. haggar/hawkeye works really well as haggar otg's off of throws easily with hawkeye's assist. getting in with haggar is easy thanks to hawkeye's assist as well. i still prefer zero's shadow handangeki's but hawkeyes assist is still good and fast. hawkeye/taskmaster zoning is godlike in this game and with haggar backing me i can defend against teleport characters pretty well. if a character gets killed off then the remaining two work well together. kinda regretting not using hawkeye more since i got ultimate as i have to learn him now but at the very least i have an idea how to zone with him already and i only have to learn other little tricks with him.

Ono can stay the hell away from Marvel. Give Nitsuma that much budget, time and stuff he can make a superior game. The Marvel dev team did a great job with Ultimate overall especially when you see where it came from in Vanilla (which people easily forget and shut off from their minds).

Also if you are talking about balance mistakes made for Vanilla... come on now. They barely knew anything about the game and what it would end up being meta game wise and how strategies will develop. You can bet your ass there is going to be some broken shit in SFxTekken coming out the gate (maybe there already is). The important thing is that they acknowledged most of the balance issues and fixed... not go on some agenda of randomly buffing new characters to god tier level so they make all other characters obsolete just for the sake of competitive integrity (*cough* Yun/Yang *cough*).

Just for the record, top 10 best things fixed from Vanilla:

1) Phoenix - Enough said
2) Meter gain nerfed. No more build 3 meter in one combo and LVL3 every character on the opposite team.
3) DHC glitch - Enough said
4) Major X factor nerf on XFLVL1 with minor ones on XFLVL2 and XFLVL2 with additional minimum scaling nerf. You guys have easily forgotten Wolverine running through a character like hot knife through butter and still have half the XFLVL1 left for the incoming next character.
5) Removal of fully invincible assists. Good fucking riddance.
6) Berderper Slash - Enough said
7) Hammer time - Enough said
8) Air dash change - I originally didn't like the change now I love it. Definitely keeps the air dash characters less brain dead and makes zoning much more viable.
9) Majority of characters buffed - That's how you should be going around balancing Marvel.
10) Assists now scale properly in combos

I still don't like mashable hypers, TACs (didn't fix it properly I feel) some of the buffs to the S tiers (*cough* Zero, Wesker & Dorm *cough*) and some of the nerfs to characters who were fine before (She Hulk).

I laughed my ass off at this

I still think it hurts Morrigan a lot more than people care to admit or realize. To ammend my previous post: It's one of the very reasons why Hawkeye/Taskmaster absolutely curbstomps Morrigan/Doom. Not only can Hawkeye overpower their zoning before they get anything going, it's very difficult for either of those characters to pursue Hawkeye quickly without taking a Gimlet up the ass.

to me x-factor 1 and 2 are the real problem. x-factor 3 should have been the only one you could use and make it a true comeback mechanic. although i would still put restrictions on it. like every time you kill somebody you lose some x-factor seconds. you should not be able to get somebody down to 1 character from 3 and still have a ton of time to kill them off completely.

XFLVL1 is hella nerfed. If it was any worse there would be no point in using it. It's fine as it is, LVL2 could use some shaving off and LVL3 definitely needs to be scaled down some. I enjoy aggressive usage of XFLVL1 (or defensive) much more than XF being used solely for a comeback.

Forgot to mention that. Definitely a major change for characters like Skrull and Iron Man who sort of linger on after their air dashes or just drop down.

I am thinking of getting SCV now and waiting for SFxTekken: Super edition or whatever update they have planned for the game. I want to get all the characters without paying for the DLCs one by one. I can definitely wait and hopefully they can get the kinks worked out in the game.

I've played both the Street Fighter and Guilty Gear series extensively, but have no experience with Marvel vs Capcom or Blazblue.

One thing I can tell you is that Guilty Gear fans tend to hate Blazblue a lot, which is why almost all the big name Guilty Gear players never touch Blazblue. Most Guilty Gear players seem to like UMvC3 a lot more than Blazblue, look at how RF, Kusoru, Marn, Marlinpie etc are all playing this game instead of Blazblue. Much of it has to do with how Blazblue is a more "serious" fighter that lacks the craziness that GG and this game has.

As for this game it's an acquired taste, if you don't take your fighting games seriously and just want to have fun this is a game for you, but if you are the type that must win every match this game will drive you insane in a way other fighting games doesn't.

That's what I wish they would have done. Ultimate was definitely a step in the right direction, and certainly made everything more MAHVEL, but at the end of the day, Niitsuma really had a lot of pressure to finish quickly.

I think at this point, the best we can hope for is that he showed Capcom that he can make a great fighter that's more or less true to the original, and has earned their respect. Hence, MvC4.

Kusoru's tier list is somewhat of a troll (all 3 of this characters 3 worst characters in the game... haha yea right). It does reflect what the Japanese think in terms of tiers, that is they still rank Phoenix/Strange extremely high and Jill really bottom. Some oddball choices but nothing too outrageous considering he was allegedly drunk when he made it.

SRK's grand tier list came out to be a bit of a mess. Mostly because the divisions of where the tier list cut off didn't match the voting numbers (long explanation not going to go over it). It would've been a really good tier list if it weren't for those cut off but now you have some really oddball stuff. What's interesting is the actual order of the tier list:

Best character in the game was deemed S tier (Zero), the 10 after that were A+ tier, about 10 more after that were A tier, then it was B tier until Hulk, with the remainder being C tier aside from Hsien Ko and Phoenix Wright who were voted D tier.

God damn there are killers all the way down to the 40s.

Iron Man in at 41 = PROFOUND SADNESS :'(

Yeah Phoenix is really a gamble in the current meta game. She is a major burden to the team with the meter nerf, no 2nd assist and your 2nd character is basically playing an anchor game... without using meter or XF, assist, TACs, safe DHC out option etc. so no matter the character at that spot, it's going to be gimped. Add on top of the fact that regular Phoenix isn't as good, can be killed before getting to Dark by numerous characters, can be killed while in Dark by a lot of characters now and the final nail on the coffin is the TAC air X factor trick which pretty much makes DP a non factor if executed properly with 2 or more characters on the team. The scare factor isn't there. Just like a mid tier character, she needs a team built around her and she needs to be set up to be at her best. You have an easier time setting up LVL5 Frank West than her now.

Trish has insane match ups and some very powerful tools. She can set up unblockables for the team, has nasty assists particularly Peakaboo, has a dive kick, 8 way air dash, traps, projectiles, huge sword normals, can both rushdown and zone etc. She lacks in damage but that stopped being a major criteria in this game a long time ago (notice high placements of Strider and Firebrand as well). Played exceptionally a Trish is very hard to beat even for the S tier/A+ tiers.


Was that list on the basis of individual characters or based on effectiveness on properly built teams?
It's a lot of factors not just effectiveness on properly built team but support value which factors in the character's DHC options, assists, TACs, raw tag set ups etc.

Of course I have my arguments against some of the placements in the tier list particularly Iron Man who just on the basis of his support capabilities should've been in the 20-30s range. Add on top of that his point capabilities are vastly superior to the characters in the 40s and some in the 30s.

For those that missed it Ageojoe and his Joe/Frank/RR team

These setups are beautiful.
  • Redhot kick after summoning log to get a crossup.
  • Frank hyper DHC-ed into viewtiful slow before last hit to setup high low guessing game from hell
  • LOG to terrify any approach other than super jumps
  • placing the giant hyper trap with RR, using dig go behind, and then push blocking to jam you into it *tried on DP!*
  • Using invincible Frank dive to dodge Dark Phoenix explosion, canceling it with xfactor and popping anti air Funny Face hyper to kill her on activation in the air
  • Using Log assist with Frank as you go for his diving roll to screw people up
  • Using log to further extend Frank combos for better leveling
  • Using Joe's massive amount of hits to setup easy leveling for Frank
  • Snap out setup of Joe bomb, jump and go for air throw *what do you do on entry?!*
  • The fact that 2/3rd of your team normal combos DO NOT WORK ON due to your size

I thought it'd be loops lately that made RR eventually, but its what we all initially thought thats really making things dangerous with him. Its logs and traps. Coupled with Joe's kick and Frank's dive its crazy. So hype for this player.
