UMvsC3 deserves to be preserved for all time

Played this again recently.

Ridiculous fun.

And the thought ocurred to me that the following is on PC. These Capcom fighting games have effectively preserved for all time:

Street Fighter 4
Ultra Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter X Tekken

and soon Street Fighter V

What crazy world are we living in that Street Fighter X Tekken has a port but Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 dosn't?

Surely in order to keep this game relevant in the fighting game community something can be done to give this game a pc port. Especially given the popularity of fighting games on pc these days.

Now, I have heard some rumblings about how marvel owns disney this will never happen or MvsC4 will never be a thing.

Let's not forget that the Deadpool game that was removed from Steam eventually came back.

I believe this can happen. So let's discuss what, if anything can be done.

They should just make Capcom VS. Preserve the gameplay style and not bother with the licensing issues. They have enough games to draw from on their own.

Even if Capcom still held the license, that roster is reeaally not current-Marvel friendly. Maybe next decade...

All UvMC3 need was another update and thats it. It could have taken over FGC (which it did for a couple of years)completely. It used to destroy SFIV in views every tournament. The matches were intense to play and hype to watch. Oh well Marvel will probably never allow an update or MvC4. Time to move on and hopefully capcom makes another Vs game like Capcom Vs Sony now that they are working together or Street fighter Vs Capcom etc.

I think the game has aged poorly. The 3D engine makes everything look really, really dark and shadowy.

That said, it's my son's first fighting game. He's four. He's learning hadokens and beserker barrage on an arcade stick at 4 because he likes the Marvel universe. I can't really complain about that.

writing out the whole vs just messes with the whole thing. UMVC3 or mahvel.

a PC port would be the greatest thing though.

I remember being upset over Shuma and Jill not being on disc in ultimate
I also recall being told I was overreacting and making a big deal out of nothing

uh huh

Such is the folly of licensing so many different characters, especially in Marvel's case where they could include those characters, but won't to spite Fox/anyone else they licensed their stuff out to pre-Disney.

Still play this game about 2-3 hours a week minimum. So fun even though it's so broken.

I'd be happy if there was a capcom allstars game with similar gameplay in the future.

The Marvel license expired. So unless Capcom renews the contract, don't count on it.

Even if they got the license back, they would probably have to specifically request the rights to put the game on PC. Marvel is extremely finicky on when and what platforms their IP's can be on and will shut you down the millisecond any current agreement expires.

Favorite game of last gen. I'll play it forever.

Wish Capcom didn't fudge the Marvel 3 launch. a new MvC featuring all of these popular figures from the Avengers movies and other superhero films would do very well at this time, and the FGC is huge compared to what it was when Marvel 3 launched And some of Capcom's characters have increased in visibility as well (And by that I mean Ryu, Chun Li and Akuma....)

Is Tatsunoko vs. Capcom also stuck in licensing hell? Original copies are still cheap to get and Dolphin emulation is top notch so not as big a deal.

TvC is on a whole other level of licensing hell.

Like, the fact that the game managed to somehow release in the US is a bloody miracle by itself.

From now on Capcom should just get out of the licensing mess and go for Capcom VS Capcom route. That would be awesome.

Yeah, I recall hearing that at the time the game came out. I think when the Wii is well into being considered a retro console it will be one of those games with a crazy price tag in the reseller market.

Tell me about it. UMVC3 deserves a port at the very least to PS4/Xbone/PC. I wish Capcom would renew the Marvel license like Activision did, or have Sony help them out - something! I fucking love this game to death.

I was just thinking about this game the other day. I know it's hard to find in stores, but is it available to download on PSN?

This is unrealistic. If you want to play the game, buy the retail disc on 360 and be glad you can at least still have that much. That's the best you're going to get at this point. I know that the DLC content was removed, though, so I guess that's still not an ideal solution.

I'm hoping that if Street Fighter V is a success then Capcom will have the money to pay for the Marvel licence. Another idea I've had is Sony paying for the game if SFV is successful but I'm not confident in that ever happening.
