UMvsC3 deserves to be preserved for all time

Grabbed a digital copy on 360 before it got delisted.

Fucking PISSED that it can't be pinned though. Ridiculous. Fix your shit Microsoft. While you're at it, give Uktimate Mortal Kombat 3 XBLA some fucking box art.

I was just thinking about this game the other day. I know it's hard to find in stores, but is it available to download on PSN?

I'm pretty sure all of the MVC games got delisted a long time ago. They had a final sale on MVC3 DLC and that was it..the main game was still full price iirc. I so regret not getting it.

Played this again recently.

Ridiculous fun.

And the thought ocurred to me that the following is on PC. These Capcom fighting games have effectively preserved for all time:

Street Fighter 4
Ultra Street Fighter 4
Street Fighter X Tekken

and soon Street Fighter V

What crazy world are we living in that Street Fighter X Tekken has a port but Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 dosn't?

Surely in order to keep this game relevant in the fighting game community something can be done to give this game a pc port. Especially given the popularity of fighting games on pc these days.

Now, I have heard some rumblings about how marvel owns disney this will never happen or MvsC4 will never be a thing.

Let's not forget that the Deadpool game that was removed from Steam eventually came back.

I believe this can happen. So let's discuss what, if anything can be done.
I agree, if this game was ported to PS4/PC I would definitely be playing it now. I completed most of the challenges but didn't play it much online due to the bad netcode. If Capcom can improve the visuals, meaning textures and IQ and improve the netcode I think it would pull in a great deal of players, always wanted to learn how to play it, but always gravitated to SF4 in the end.

1080p 60fps 8xMSAA on PS4
4k 60fps on PC

Would be pretty swell.

It should, most definitely. But good luck getting Disney to think that.

It has Doctor Doom and X-Men in it. And considering Disney-Marvel hates all of them now, it's not on their list to care about it.

The Fox ban doesn't include remasters or ports of games made before the ban was enacted. That's how the Deadpool remaster was able to happen.

Blame Marvel.

Hoping they don't make the same mistake with Marvel 4. Get that shit on PC.

I wish we got a MvC 4 but it's not going to happen. You'll play Disney Infinity and mobile games and you'll like it! And even if we did get it, by some will of the gods or something, it would be lacking all of the movie properties owned by Fox most likely. So say goodbye to having any Xmen characters in the game or F4 characters anymore (so like more than half the marvel roster in the previous games)

DOA has tatsunoko based costumes now right? It's probably easier than Marvel, I imagine
Certain Tatsunoko franchises are owned overseas by different companies (if I recall, it resulted in the removal of one character in TvC's western release). What characters did DoA use?

Even if they got the license back, they would probably have to specifically request the rights to put the game on PC. Marvel is extremely finicky on when and what platforms their IP's can be on and will shut you down the millisecond any current agreement expires.
They let Activision rerelease Deadpool. Anything can happen.

Granted, probably has more to do with the movie than anything else, but still.

Sadly by the time I was ready to buy the DLC characters they'd been removed. I just wasn't paying attention.

I love the MvC series. So much better than the mobile garbage Marvel churns out.

It's not as impossible as you think. The main problem is that Capcom is a bit more conservative with their money (& understandably so). They won't make a large invest in renewing the Marvel license unless they're sure it'll succeed. How SFV ends up selling should give us a good look at the odds of MvC4 happening eventually.

Please refer to my previous post.

Wow, that's crazy the game would just disappear completely like that. Is it something to do with Disney owning Marvel now?
The license expired, nothing more. As such, Capcom was no longer able to sell UMvC3 or anything associated with it.

They should re-release the game, but reskin all the Marvel characters to just be...original characters.

Team Magnet Man, Professor Metal Face, and Fire Turkey.

Just bought a copy of this because it's not going to get any easier to find. Could only find a PS3 copy, wish it would've been 360.

Even if they get the licenses now, marvel wants everything they do to be a advertisement for their precious MCU, if XMen are excluded lmfao get outta here. Imagine not having magneto or wolverine or storm in a MvC game.

Getting replaced by Inhumans lmao get outta here

That's like substituting the justice league with the omega men

Honestly, I'd be down for a pure Capcom fighter.

Just drop the Marvel half of the cast and replace them with Capcom characters.

That way they could salvage at least half of the game!

The problem with this is that Capcom would likely have to overstuff the roster with Street Fighter & Resident Evil characters to have the game sell decently. The popularity of the Marvel characters allowed Capcom to get away with some more obscure characters on their side. The latter wouldn't have that luxury for a Capcom-only game (more so considering that they have around 4-5 mainstream franchises tops).

Not necessarily. The Avengers are more equal to the Justice League in terms of popularity. A more apt comparison would be replacing the Teen Titans with the Omega Men.

I think that would be fine. Add Leon, Ada, etc, to the likes of Chris, Jill, Wesker and Nemesis. Add more Street Fighter characters. More Mega Man characters (like Mega Man himself!). More Devil May Cry characters. More Phoenix Wright characters. More Darkstalkers. Maybe find a way to work in Monster Hunter. Maybe stuff like Dino Crisis, God Hand, PN03 and Breath of Fire. I'm sure they could make it work.

Exactly, they would have to focus on their more popular franchises to make up for the loss of the Marvel crew at the cost of roster diversity (I.E. don't expect Capcom to dig as deep into their roster as they could have with a more popular company appealing to the average consumer). And even then, it may not even result in similar sales.

And just letting you know, Darkstalkers currently counts as obscure (sadly). Ace Attorney is big in Japan, but a decent-sized cult hit everywhere else.

They could add one obscure character for every two or three staple characters and create a perfectly fun and interesting roster.

As much as I would love that, I'm not sure if that would be enough. It would probably have to be "1 obscure character for every 5 staple characters" or something along those lines.

TvC is on a whole other level of licensing hell.

Like, the fact that the game managed to somehow release in the US is a bloody miracle by itself.

But at what cost...? :(
The entire soundtrack gave its life so that TvC could live in the west. Its also the reason that I play my JP import whenever I got back to TvC.

I don't really like UMvC3 but it has such an incredible roster and it has a cool tourney scene so I'd love to see it preserved. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom too.

also come on, don't rag on SFxT, it was fun on a casual level. And the Tekken characters were really fun to use, I thought.

I would like to express my happiness on the status of Ultimate Marvel, the game deserves the worst, it's toxic community plagued with illegal practices made it mainstream when in dark ages, then people just ate the whole new marvel game without even chew it, and now you are all chokin from it, im glad marvel's dead finally, the evolution series are more clean without them, esports all the way now with SFV and it's League of Legends stupid ELO system.

Expect ELO hell on SFV too.

Your problem is caring about the pro scene.

MVC games are awesome party games. Hanging out with friends passing the controller is the best.

No

None of that

Shame on you

You're letting the actions of a few define everyone else.

lol, what? You're talking about a handful of people betting? Or are you talking about playing ranked? Toxic community? What? lol

I was going to comment on this too. They're typically easy enough games to pick up and "ABCD JC BBCD" with pretty much any character (well, in MVC3 at least, it was a bit trickier in 2) and just go nuts in local play. Getting into the hardcore intricacies was very challenging, but my friends and I never went that deep into it.

Xbox 360 version can be saved in compatibility with XB1, at least all previously purchased copies (both physical and digital) in backwards compatibility, at least is doable since is not needed to resell the game for XB1 running X360 games and it can be preserved a little bit more on that platform

Unless they regain licensing don't expect it, it happened for MVC1 and 2 but even those ended up being pulled eventually right? It seems to be a curse of this series, I recall the DC to Xbox/Ps2 ports being shaky with that too.

I could say the same for Scott Pilgrim vs the World the game, but you know digital, so that's not gonna happen.

I think it'd sell just fine. All it needs is a handful of recognizable faces on the cover.

Capcom needs to make a VS game where the rights to whatever they choose won't expire (Namco? And maybe by extension buddy up with Nintendo? And other third party characters they were able to obtain for Smash?), and then when it's (hopefully) incredibly successful, and a mainstay in the ever growing FGC, Marvel will realize it was a missed opportunity, and make a future MvC4 a possibility.

Or we just forget about Marvel and revel in the glory of the new VS game.

The only preserving that game is gonna get is through emulation years from now. We have better chances hoping for a MVC4 on PC I would say.

Capcom, Sega, Namco alone would be quite the roster.
