Hm. I thought with the version of Uncharted 4 with the statue I got the season pass automatically. I guess not.

Man I've seen you spewing nonsensical hot takes regarding Naughty Dog/Uncharted since the Digital Foundry thread with your crusade against Uncharted 4 and its "impossibly good-looking bullshit trailer".

You continuously fail to substantiate your ridiculously hyperbolic claims without a shred of self awareness, and now you're raising pitchforks in the OT because stylistically you don't think a hint of realism belongs in Uncharted?

Do you realize how pedantic you come across?

First you dog the Uncharted 4 teaser for deceitfully looking too good, and now this game goes too far with its realism for you...

You can't act surprised at people's stupefied reactions when they read between the lines of your rants; it's clear to anyone following your posts that you simply don't enjoy these games and/or resent Naughty Dog for their perceived slights against your delicately discerning consumer sensibilities.

Just to be clear, you are accusing me of raising pitchforks in the OT, the same guy who said this about the game in this very OT just this morning:

I hated Uncharted 4 (At times) but I am loving this so far.

The chase sequence in Chapter 2 is so much better because of the amazing visuals, the setting, the rain and and lightning.

LOVED the first big combat encounter in Chapter 3. huge area and lots of guns and enemies to tackle. i ran around running people over in the jeep, then stole a sniper and quickscoped and no scoped fools. would love to replay this on hard and crushing.

the rest of the graphics are just as impressive as the sweaty hair. the rain and lightning in that level was incredible. the hdr in the first chapter blew me away. chapter 3 somehow looks better than Madacasgar in U4 which released just a year ago. Naughty Dogs probably saw Horizon and said fuck it we need to top them. i am so happy playing this game it takes me back to the U2 days where i didnt want the game to end because it was so exciting.

I dont know if it was you who i replied to in the recent Uncharted 4 E3 trailer thread, but i do recall posting a link to the gaf thread which had over a dozen sources confirming that the E3 2015 trailer was realtime. i remember quoting an article interviewing a dev who confirmed it, i remember posting tweets of a dev who confirmed it and again posted a link right back to the source thread on gaf. I would call that 'substantiating' my claims.

But nice try trying to get me banned. I am sure you thought the mods here would see you bring arguments from other threads and create an case against me derailing the thread on purpose. I have been an Uncharted fan since before it was cool to like Uncharted. now go try to derail some other thread.

So this morning I was scurrying along a ledge over the water and some dude was trying to light me up, shooting an endless amount of bullets at me. I noticed Nadine was off to his right (left side of the video) unloading on him and doing zero damage. So I just let her shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot and shoot and...

Pretty funny they made her do little to no damage. what are your thoughts?

HD is up!

Just finished. Pretty amazing game.

Chapter 3's open world was too Ubisoft for my liking and the series needs to stay clear of this. The 3 main objectives in the area had you do the same 3 things with a few different twists. The side objectives were, well, pure crap open world design of go here and collect this. Then there were those 15 or so weapons crates you can unlock, how fun...Terrible.

The jigsaw puzzles and weapons crates were repetative yes but each main objective are was different enough I thought. One was puzzle focused, and the others more combat or climbing focused.

It's loud as hell. Naughty Dog games have always resulted in the loudest fan noise for me on both PS3 and PS4, but this one might be the new champion.
I've found the same! TLOU used to whir up my Ps3 but this is probably the most irritating I've heard it on my Pro for sure. But it does look damn good.

Just finished. Might have overtaken U2 as my favorite Uncharted. The set pieces aren't as inventive as U2s (still incredible overall) but the level design, vastly improved core mechanics, and art direction all make this an incredible package. $40 was a steal for this. It easily could have been $60.

Well, I was about to praise Naughty Dog for finally making a fun single player/co-op mode, and then I realised that stats are tied to your character level. The only way to play on harder difficulties and get stars is to spend hours grinding on lower difficulties.

Just...why? what the heck is the point?

You're crazy, chapter 3 is exactly the kind of shake up to the formula that Uncharted needs.

I don't even get your Ubisoft open world comparison. There was a unique puzzle, platforming, or combat encounter for each collectable on the map. I thought that little side quest was going to be a very boring treasure hunt, but it ended up being one of the best parts of the game. It helps that there is a good amount of writing and voice acting for that side quest, so the production quality felt on par with the rest of the campaign.

This is so hilarious, cause I know snake personally and you are so wrong about his opinion. He adores naughty dog, he just thinks Uncharted 4 was a big let down as many people do. That has nothing to do with his take on graphics of which he is a graphics whore and questions every bullshot trailer and he was right about the original Uncharted 4 teaser, it never looked like that.

Now I have no clue where this Chloe observation came from, I for one noticed the dirty hair but I never once thought they wanted to make her less attractive. That's his opinion, he can have it, I don't agree but whatever.

Yes chapter 3 is incredible! It's like BOTW almost, I'm finding all sorts of cool stuff and hidden items. It's the Uncharted adventure game 4 tried to be and failed. Please more of that!

Just finished. What a ride. Easily up there with 2 as my favourite in the series, and the final chapter is probably my favourite sequence out of all the games.

They weren't different enough. We'll see how much fun you have with that chapter during your second or third playthrough.

When Bioware does it in the form of Remenant vaults it's repetative, even though you fight enemies in some, solve puzzles in others, platform in another, or do a combination of all. While, having conversations with your crew. But this is ND so they could do no wrong.

If you can't see that this chapter had very typical open world objectives that people normally complain about in other games, then you're the one that's crazy. Or you simple don't play enough open world games to know just how tedious they've gotten over the years. Calling each side mission collectible unique is a flat out lie, lol.

If ND's attempt at a full open world experience was the Western Ghats over and over again I could see people being upset with this, but this game is still a tightly knit narrative drive linear game, with the small open world part clearly an experimentation to see if they could include something like this in their tight knit linear experience and would it work.

In that context it totally does and is a nice little break from how an uncharted normally plays, however, if you just want that classic uncharted experience you can just go to the 3 main areas right away and ignore the rest. It works perfect for those who want to explore a bit more of the beautiful world/environment they create

Chapter 4 is such a chore.

Driving to the three towers and completing them shouldn't take more than ~40 minutes. If you're going for all of the tokens there will definitely be some frustration.

I kinda liked it regardless. The tokens reminded me of Zelda's shrines, as they're small challenges scattered about focused on a singular idea.

Ah, I see MiamiWesker beat me to the comparison.

For an experiment it's fine.

I haven't played Mass Effect: Andromeda, so I don't even know what exactly you're comparing this to.

No, these are not "very typical" open world objectives. That chapter is an hour long with an extra 40 minutes to an hour of extra gameplay with that side quest. It's hardly comparable to open world games that could repeat content for several hours on end. Again, I think you're really being crazy here. There was definitely a unique challenge for each point on the map with that side quest. I definitely felt a sense of adventure and discovery with each location. It definitely did not feel like a checklist.

So 6 or 10 hours to finish? I hear both.

Like any game, it depends on how quick you are, how many times you die, if you do side objectives, if you explore, etc.

I'd say a good estimate would be between those as I've seen most people finish around 7-8 hours I think.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
Just to be clear, you are accusing me of raising pitchforks in the OT, the same guy who said this about the game in this very OT just this morning:

Okay. I'll concede to that; it seems you actually play these games. That doesn't change how fastidiously nitpicky your stance is, and the same goes for your Uncharted 4 downgrade argument.

You can't seem to grasp that you're blowing out of proportion how the studio handle their announcement PR - nevermind how inevitably ambiguous terms like "real-time", "captured from" and "pre-rendered" become when everything they do is using the game's engine, and all their major geometry are kept from cutscene to gameplay; and to top that off, that game launched with virtually identical visuals bar the 60FPS target.

It simply is not as a big deal as you're making it in your head, and to ask that the studio be held accountable for what you perceived as a malicious attempt to dupe their fanbase is simply preposterous.

But, if you must, by all means continue to live in that fantasy.

That is all.

Edit:

I'm sorry if this took the discussion too far off Lost Legacy.

Edit 2:

I saw someone mention "Ubiworld" when describing the Ghats hub and the token scavenger hunt.

My brother said the same thing when he saw that part but, in all honesty, beyond the fact that you visit an area and it then highlights objectives in the map, there's not much else to compare.

It felt organically woven into that open exploration portion, and I personally found the little tricks to get to the coins pretty nifty. Not to mention it moves your attention throughout the entirety of the map, so that it doesn't feel underutilized.

Also, Henry Jackman is boss.

He's part of the reason why I was able to tolerate Just Cause 3's atrocious performance.

The initial loading screen melody was eerily reminiscent of The Walking Dead opening.

Damn what a good game.
Chloe and Nadine are great together.
Loved the open chapter a lot, driving around in that jeep feels great.
Asav was a fine antagonist. I liked his design and acting at the very least.
The last chapter is fucking fantastic.
Essentially combining a train fight and convoy fight was cool as hell, never a moment of rest.
I also was really surprised to see Sam, it was nice to see him and Nadine make up.

I want Naughty Dog to move on to other things but damn if this didn't make me want more
Chloe and Nadine
adventures.

I second this sentiment. And holy cow the visuals!!

It's funny, but I do feel like they basically took a normal Uncharted game and just cut out the first act and threw you into the second act when you start off in India. It's great, but it does feel structurally different.

I really REALLY enjoyed Chapter 4 other than the combat at the three towers. The tokens were great! All the exploring was great. And somehow, thanks to no mini-map with a key, ala Horizon/Far Cry/AC it felt really organic too.

Also... Does anyone find the controls to be a bit laggy? I dunno, I feel like it controls slugishly, maybe Uncharted 4 did too, can't remember. Too much animation emphasis?

Anyone can tell me how to get the "first" token that is located on the map near the Elephant rock statue?

No idea what to do there.

If it's the one I am thinking of, shoot all the bells in the vicinity as quickly as possible. Each bell removes a bar on the door as long as it's still ringing.

The controls have been fine for me so far (but I'm not very far) but there have been a few situations where they've been notably unresponsive. Early on when I was moving some crates around, Chloe just had a very noticeable delay between letting go of a crate and then moving again.

Yeah, this kind of thing. And during the lockpick minigames too, it seems like the lockpicking UI is really lagging behind my analog stick input.

And then I've had that feeling just about walking around.

Okay, I stopped when I got to the Western Ghats, and, holy crap at the visuals in this game. Seriously, from the first FRAME of the campaign, I was blown away. I can't stop taking screenshots. I don't know if I'll even look at them; I just feel like I need to capture the beauty.

I thought it would be hard to blow me away this gen after playing Horizon ZD, but they did it and haven't relented for a second.

I think the dialogue & banter is a step up over UC4.

I personally think it's the best in the series.

It's still grounded like in UC4, where it feels like they're actual human beings talking to each other and not just characters throwing off constant one liners. But even with the more grounded approach, it didn't feel like they had to sacrifice the wit of the earlier games.

Plus, Chloe and Nadine are just a great duo.

Kat's still the best female Sony character imo. Chloe, Elena, and Aloy are all pretty solid as well.

Ellie...

So, can you just walk/run around the open world without driving? Might just be me, but I feel like it will be tedious to get into and out of the vehicle all the time. But I haven't played through the section yet, so I don't know if it would kill the pacing to walk the whole area.

You need the car to access certain parts of the map.
