Uncharted: The Lost Legacy |OT| Ladies Trip

God, I missed Chloe so much. If Lost Legacy is an indication of where the franchise is going in the future, I am a-OK with it.

Getting major ODST vibes from LL. The shorter standalone thing with open world elements and the predecessor's MP suite has a better SP than the main game.

Chapter 6 or 7 spoilers (not sure which)

Naughty Dog sure love there random animal moments.

I absolutely loved it.
That APC boss fight into the elephant ride is one of my favorite sequences this year. Topped off with the great picture Nadine took.

I always forget that ND does the best setpieces.

Played for 1hr 15mins and game already says 22% complete. :(

I want this to last forever.

Nah, you don't. That was 4's problem. LL proves that the franchise works best in an ~8 hour frame.

Yes, you can take some photos. Its actually pretty funny. Not sure if you mean closer beyond the photo spot, of that I am not sure.

After
the ride when one of them mentions they should keep their distance since the elephants have a calf they are protecting.

One major gripe i have is how they have made a lot of effort making Chloe look dirty, sweaty and dare i say unattractive. i understand the thinking behind it, they dont want to sexualize her after sexualizing her in U2 but they had no problem making Drake look like a super model in U4. One of the artists even commented that they wanted him to look attractive because hes the hero. So while i appreciate the fact that Chloe's hair reacts realistically to sweat, i dont know why they had to start now with a woman. Drake gets banged up in U4 but still has great hair in cutscenes. i dont know, chloe is supposed to be super hot and i see this as them just hiding her hotness after doing a drastic remodeling of her character.

Pathetic.

Game is awesome, don't want it to end!!

Probably a stupid question but do I need to play UC4 before this?

As I said to someone asking this earlier, I actually do recommend playing UC4 before. There are many links to that game and especially Nadine's full picture you only get if you have experienced her in UC4, where she was your opponent. It was actually a great feeling having Nadine as my partner after I've experienced her badassery in UC4 and then learning a bit more about her.

So for the people that already finished it: is Chloe capable of handling the series as the main character from now on? Basically, is she as good as Drake as a protagonist?

Yes, but I think the series could also do perfectly well with a rotating cast of protagonists in the leading role.

Still roaming around in chapter 4, so far so great! I like how the game pokes fun at the series, especially 4 (
the crates comment, the discussion about Nate, the mention of Sam popping up from nowhere...
). The game is amazingly beautiful and probably the best-looking game I've ever seen, though I've noticed some small slowdown and severe shadow pop-in here and there. And the characters come off as much more interesting than I anticipated from the trailers.

Also glad to hear the game keeps getting better and better, HYPE.

That was one hell of a trip. I'm impressed with what they've achieved in 1 year.

btw, something related → https://nodontdie.com/neil-druckmann/

– There is an escalating cost curve that's been happening in videogames since the '80s. Is there ever concern or discussion over there? Is Naughty Dog worried about whether these games are sustainable?

– [Pause.] I guess we haven't had that discussion, like some kind of existential crisis for the studio. We are aware that the budgets are ballooning and at the same time, for us, they've been more and more successful. So, it's good that those curves are lining up with each other. I think we're gonna hit some kind of diminishing -- or that curve for the cost is going to flatten I think relatively soon. Because as far as the things that cost a lot are -- well, the thing that costs the most for us are salaries for the developers in-house. So, the more developers you have, the more expensive the games are gonna be. MOCAP and the technology behind MOCAP of R&D and renting a sound stage and bringing actors onboard, I feel like for the most part that's going to flatten. I don't see it getting more expensive than what it is now. If anything, it might start getting cheaper sometime in the near future.
...
I feel like we've seen the worst of it, as far as, "Yeah, these games have gotten more expensive and the studios that can make this kind of game have shut down or gone more lower budget versions of these games." You're not seeing the middle-budget version anymore. But I think we've seen the worst of it. If anything, the indie games are gonna get more and more sophisticated as tools get better and cheaper.

As a quick example of that, like, Crash Bandicoot took a whole team for Naughty Dog to make over a year-plus of production. Crash Bandicoot in Uncharted 4 was one scripter.

Chloe is not only on the official bae of 2017 list. She's also joining the official Sony Female Mascots! Aloy, Ellie and Chloe are Sony's modern female icons.

And maybe
Kat
, I guess.

Hmm. I think i'm hitting the same point with Uncharted that I did with God of War. It's too much of the same for me now. It's not bad at all, most of it is excellent, but it needs a change or a long, long hiatus.

This game has my PS4 pro fans whirring up and down constantly. It's so damn off putting during quiet moments. Looks gorgeous but I think it's the worst case of it so far.

A company being excited for their new game is a huge slap in the face to all the fans that liked their old games.
So let me get this straight, you dislike the fact that i said it was a major issue for me. And yet your over the top and hysterical reaction to it seems to indicate this topic is a major issue for you as well. The only difference b/w you and me is that i was able to calmly state what my gripe was while you got all worked up in a frenzy.

Again, and this time try to read my post without getting angry, it's a major issue because it's a complete redesign of the character. It's a perfectly valid complaint.

This is Drake after a getting dragged through mud, jumping from truck to truck, driving a jeep, crashing the jeep and the escaping with his brother on a bike.

Compare that to her at without getting into an combat encounters in Chapter 2 and 3. Like I said, i appreciate the more realistic details but maybe they belong in a game like TLOU2.

Man I've seen you spewing nonsensical hot takes regarding Naughty Dog/Uncharted since the Digital Foundry thread with your crusade against Uncharted 4 and its "impossibly good-looking bullshit trailer".

You continuously fail to substantiate your ridiculously hyperbolic claims without a shred of self awareness, and now you're raising pitchforks in the OT because stylistically you don't think a hint of realism belongs in Uncharted?

Do you realize how pedantic you come across?

First you dog the Uncharted 4 teaser for deceitfully looking too good, and now this game goes too far with its realism for you...

You can't act surprised at people's stupefied reactions when they read between the lines of your rants; it's clear to anyone following your posts that you simply don't enjoy these games and/or resent Naughty Dog for their perceived slights against your delicately discerning consumer sensibilities.

It's because Chloe's dialogue isn't repeatedly interrupted by...

"Ow, my *insert injured limb*, I've got to do this though. I have to be brave for my friend. I am a strong female character with a traumatic upbringing, I will get up this ledge."
lollllll

Man I laughed way too hard at this. Well done. :)

So let me get this straight, you dislike the fact that i said it was a major issue for me.
If by "dislike" you mean I am mocking it relentlessly, yes. Because it is certainly worthy of derision.
And yet your over the top and hysterical reaction
Uh-huh... interesting choice of word 🤔

My reaction isn't "hysterical", btw, it's more being flabbergasted that anyone would make such ridiculous complaints with a straight face.

Again, and this time try to read my post without getting angry, it's a major issue because it's a complete redesign of the character. It's a perfectly valid complaint.
lol. No. It's neither a major issue nor is her having some sweat and dirt sometimes anything close to a "complete redesign". Tone-policing aside, you're the one who's "hysterical".

They added changing sun position with changing lighting and cast shadows but they dind't care to include a dynamic time of day for this Uncharted?
Seriously Naughty Dog, time to go back to open world gameplay where you shined the most. Bring back Jak And Daxter or at least make TLOU2 open world, if not make another open world game like Savage Starlight.

It's loud as hell. Naughty Dog games have always resulted in the loudest fan noise for me on both PS3 and PS4, but this one might be the new champion.

Just finished. Pretty amazing game.

Chapter 3's open world was too Ubisoft for my liking and the series needs to stay clear of this. The 3 main objectives in the area had you do the same 3 things with a few different twists. The side objectives were, well, pure crap open world design of go here and collect this. Then there were those 15 or so weapons crates you can unlock, how fun...Terrible.

Henry Jackman is a shit composer. Especially when you compare him to Edmonson and Bajakian. I hoped this soundtrack would be better than 4's. No, it's significantly worse.

Again, no
supernatural elements
, this made me sad.

A little too short. I played on normal, took my time, explored, did all the side stuff, took loads of screenshots, found about 70% of the treasures and I finished with a few minutes under 7 hours.

I would have liked to see
Cutter instead of Sam, only because I love Cutter
, but what can you do.

I wish there was a little more visual variety, like U4, too much green. But that's not a big issue.

The rest though, was fantastic and just visually stunning. Some of the design details are so beautiful.

Chloe and Nadine are a fantastic team. Maybe not as fun as Nate but I'd have no problem if the series went forward without him and just randomly paired up other characters we've met along the way.

The pacing was leagues better than U4, and thank fuck for better gameplay variety outside of chapter 3. I think there were only 1 or 2 crates in the entire game, compared to 1 or 2 crates in each U4 chapter.

The
elephant ride
was amazing and it's stuff like this that I love about ND games, a little completely unexpected surprise.

Loved the
market scene at the start and really hoped it would end with a pizza party with the little girl.
So that was a great ending.

Final verdict - 7.5/10

Time to do a Crushing run.

Edit: Arena mode, great addition, but not being able to select which map you want to play on really sucks. It would have been nice if we got one or two new maps as well. Even layout remakes of old maps with assets from the current games would be good enough. Uncharted 3 has over 30 maps in total. 35 I think. I'm not even sure if this game has 15.

Kat is getting robbed yet again and Makoto mentioned instead?

Also Tales of Berseria protagonist.

Chloe is my favorite female protagonist this year personally.
I think I keep forgetting about Gravity Rush 2 because the game gives me motion sickness. I love Kat and Raven though.
