Did my part and voted for Hillary in Michigan!

I'm in a bit of a predicament though GAF and I could use assistance. I have to lie o my dad and tell him I didn't vote. The reasoning it mainly due to me still needing to count on him with many things in my life right now. He is a die hard Trump supporter to the point where it actually scares me and he gave me an earful why not voting for him makes me stupid and such on the phone last night. He's coming by today because he has to help my brother with something and I just know he's going to bring it up again.

I ask for assistance because I can't seem to find the thread that compiled all of Trumps' lies and stuff. If someone could help and find that for me as well as any other big stories of him being awful, I'd really appreciate it.

Nothing you say or show will ever change your dad's mind. Tell him you were going to vote for Hillary, thought about how much your dad has helped you over the years, and voted for Trump. It makes him feel good, maybe he'll give you some more money, and life goes on.

Just don't go around telling people he may talk to (your brother, mom, etc) that you voted for Hillary or you just told your dad something to con him. Keep your lies to yourself!

Just lie to your dad and say "aw shucks" or whatever when Trump looses.

Hey Melly Baby

what did you get on Question 3?

You get B?

Cool so did I

That pic is disturbing. Like Trump is making sure his wife stays in line and votes correctly...

From the BBC...

Topless protesters removed

Shortly before Mr Trump's arrival, two topless female protesters were removed from the polling station. One could reportedly be heard shouting "Out of our polls, Trump!"

Who needs breaking news regarding voting habits when you have this?

please don't ever post about politics again. you can't spend a year derailing threads around ME ME ME ME ME ME ME attention grabbing political posts, fearmongering about how hillary is going to result in the destruction of the republic by grabbing your guns, talking about your MAGA hat, describing yourself as trump's single biggest supporter on the site, and then wimp out at the ballot box. it's annoying enough when you were being sincere and just hijacking every thread on politics by being contrarian, it's ten times more annoying knowing it was all an act. have some fucking principles

It's okay, I'll cast a Trump vote to make everything right, or I would if I was voting today.

Pretty close to 50/50. If she wins NC and Florida it's over.

I think with the early voting and higher than expected Hispanic turnout, I would say it's probably closer to a 60/40 split for Hillary. I think the ultimate number will be close, but not as razor thin as many are expecting for her.

Alright, I'm getting ready to go vote in my first presidential election. Wish me luck guys!

Went and cast my vote just now, took the majority of my lunch break and then some.

Lines weren't too bad, but there are a bunch of older folks in my area who were there, and if they moved slower than the DMV.

The guy in front of me in line had a 210lb English Mastiff service dog, so that was a plus.

Bad advice.

Dont lie to your father. Just dont talk about it.

Very good early morning turnouts in Allentown PA.

Hope this shit is a landslide like we haven't seen since 88.

I don't just want Hillary to win I want Trump to lose in the most humiliating way possible.

Fuck you deplorables. You will have to wait for some other election to send us back to the dark ages.

Be an adult and tell him you voted for Hillary. People like your dad and Trump supporters in general need reality to slap them across the face sometimes, maybe this is when it happens to him.

Is this necessarily bad for Clinton, though?

Yeah, some caveats on that tweet:

- even if working class turnout is higher, what about the turnout among other groups that lean Clinton? (women, minorities, younger people, etc.) There's no context for the tweet; turnout could just be up among all groups (which wouldn't be surprising given the amount of attention to this election)

- Most poll aggregates have Michigan as reliably Dem (NYT has it at +7). Even if more working class voters do turnout, they'd have to turnout in sufficient numbers, and they would have to vote Trump by a wide margin (since plenty will also vote for Clinton) to have any effect.

It's also early in the day, 12 PM ET and Luntz is a Republican media pollster who wants to generate interest in a horse race. Which doesn't mean his tweet is wrong, there just isn't enough info in it to read the tea leaves one way or the other.

Thank you.

No "I Voted" sticker for me in the vote-by-mail utopia of Oregon, but +3 for Hillary, Ron Wyden, Pete DeFazio, and Kate Brown from my household. Dropped the ballots off last week.

Every voter in this country should have it as easy as we do in Oregon: Motor voter registration and vote by mail.

honestly I feel the exact same way about nevertrumpers.... I'm in WI which arguably had the biggest nevertrump movement... I want to say (I am probably wrong) that my state gave trump his biggest loss by a wide margin in the primaries.. yet almost every nevertrump from my facebook wall has been "I am voting trump for SCOTUS nominees!!!" So basically #nevertrump was really #nevertrumpunlessheactuallywinsthenominationthentrumpbecauseIamjustgoingtovotealongpartylinesanywayandmakesomereasonwhyIamdoingso.

My ballot:

In the end I couldn't pull the trigger on Trump. While he's someone who I really wanted to vote for on an emotional level, you have to realize that he simply isn't a true believer, just another GOP snake oil salesman, only more bombastic and less intelligent. I am glad he ran, and I hope his movement continues to grow and eventually pushes the Grover Norquist chamber of commerce types out of the party. This time it was free trade, in four years it might be regressive taxation, or lax financial regulation, or labor rights. When the day comes that the base fully awakens and forces the party to move beyond trickle down and hostility to labor, I’ll be ready to support them, but until then I’ll continue to begrudgingly vote for Democrats.

(And yes, I totally broke state law by taking this photo)

Just when you thought the October November surprises were over

Wow!

I voted earlier today. Was a bit stressed immediately after but at this point I don't even care. What happens, happens.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Hillary could still survive loosing Florida to Trump right? If FL goes to her it's game over for Trump for sure, but she still has a plausible path to victory if she looses FL...right?

Im starting to yearn here.

edit: Maybe he is looking for a tag? If he is looking for that, I think this is the lamest attempt of tag fishing in the history of GAF?

Feels good man. Wife and I did the exact same down here in Corvallis. Mail-in voting, and confirming via the website, is incredible and I never want to go back to doing it the old way.

Did my part and voted Hillary about 2 weeks ago by mail :) Facebook lighting up with a lot of Hillary voters too. Optimistic and hoping we'll take the senate!

Voted here in rural PA, would love to see my county go blue like it did with the Governors race, but I doubt it.

I just hope to god that Trump and Toomey both lose.

My #nevertrump friend stayed true.

My whole family supports Trump, but only my mom voted/planned to vote. Our votes pretty much cancel each other out lol. Luckily it wasn't 4 against 1!

Absolutely. Trump has a very narrow path to victory. Hillary has a lot more slack.

Report all the employees/volunteers immediately. Their behavior is 110% illegal.

Isn't that illegal?

It is and should be reported immediately.

Is that not against American election laws?

Like others have said, pretty sure pollsters cannot wear anything showing affiliation to any particular party, even volunteers.

I would report that place in a second.

I URGE you to please report this to state elections officials. It's a totally anonymous report and even if it makes no difference, this sort of violation of the law should NOT be tolerated!

I'm pretty sure it is illegal, yes. But I do have to correct myself, not EVERYONE (so, sorry there was a bit of hyperbole on my part) was wearing badges for Trump but of all the workers there that were wearing badges, they were only for Trump.

It was at an elementary school and the people I noticed were wearing badges were the ones directing voters what building to go vote in. I think it's still illegal even if the volunteers work for the school, yes?

From the early vote demographics, it seems like Florida is a lock.

But she not only has to lose Florida, but Nevada, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Michigan.

There are certain things you need to be pragmatic about when you are discussing politics. You are never going to get everything you want, especially in a first past the post system. Furthermore, you have to realize policy decisions, especially those from someone with a career as long as Hillary Clinton's, are sometimes done from a place of Political expediency. Iraq War, gay marriage, tough on crime 90's laws, these come from an era of white, Chrisitan majority politics and Hillary has admitted her mistakes and adjusted her worldview to compensate.

The majority of Wall Street donates to the Republican party.
Actually, Democrats vs Republicans is almost 50-50.

If you look at Clinton vs Trump, it's not even close.

Yes, it is still illegal.
