I hope most people remember who Janos is before Jon makes 'fetch' happen. (Which I guess will be next season but still). Especially as in the show it's him who personally murders the baby instead of just ordering that Deem guy to do it. That combined with the Ned Betrayalton should make his death very cathartic.

I showed my unsullied friend a picture of him and he couldn't remember what he did or where he was sent, which is worrying. Hopefully the previously section makes it clear.

All previews should be like Mad Men:
Tyrion makes funny japes, Jon Snow is grumpy, Daenerys doesn't go to Westeros, Joffrey insults someone

I'm sure there will be a recap at the start to remind remind everyone though they didn't seem to do that last season.

I think people will remember who Janos Slynt is once he's back in the fold. I'm also sure they'll mention what he had done at some point. It's easy to forget him, since he hasn't appeared at all in Season 3, and was pretty minor in Season 2 (even Season 1 really) except for the killing of Robert's bastards, but that also was fairly early into the season iirc, and there's so many characters that sometimes it's hard to keep track of all the faces and names of minor characters, unless they had a big impact or left quite the impression, like Xaro Xhoan Daxos and Pyat Pree. I'm sure a lot of people don't remember the name (since they're fairly complicated :p), but the characters are very easy to remember because they are so distinct.

Also, I take it "Unsullied" is the fandom name for people who haven't read the books?

I'm sure Slynt will tell everyone he used to be in charge of the city guard and brag about arresting traitors like Ned Stark. He'll mention Jon had traitor's blood or something. Should make it clear.

Ah I see. That doesn't strike me as very weird because my sister is sort of like that.

That doesn't make it any more reasonable as far as behaviours go tbh.

She just has some different interpretations of the material and is fiercely protective of the the books. I don't get the whole "She has different opinions GET HER!!!" attitude that a lot of people seem have towards her.

The books don't need 'protecting' they're already out there for anyone and everyone to read and to judge by their own personal standards. The show is an adaptation of the books, not a literal attempt at replication. This is something Martin himself understands having worked in television, but is a concept lost of the likes of Antonsson.

I can't wait to see everyone tonight like long lost friends that you can only visit once a year.
So many things to see so little time to do it. I expect plenty of T/A tonight, and plenty of changes from the book to nitpick.
Let the whores strip for my amusement and the games begin.

I got my dad to order hbo yesterday. Apparently the lady that works at direct tv talked to him about game of thrones for awhile lol. So hyped for tonight. Think a few of my friends might come over to watch as well.

Dat feel when you'll probably have to work nearly every Sunday night of the season (except Easter). :(

Guess I'll be watching Episode 1 between classes tomorrow :/

If the arc between Roose and Ramsay for this season is going to be about Ramsay craving legitimization and his father's love/respect, it's reasonable to assume this season ends with Ramsay legitimized as the trueborn lord of Winterfell and heading there with Roose and Reek to marry FakeArya, yes?

friendly reminder:

Going through that looking at who's gonna drop it this season:
Balon
Lysa
Gregor
Probably Rast, probably that guy from Torchwood/The Dark Knight Rises as well (Chett?)
Joffrey
Tywin
Maaaaybe Janos but not likely. Alliser could drop instead of Noye as well.
Shae
Dontos
Beric (again, but for realz this time)
Ygritte
:'(
Possibly Lord o' Bones
Oberyn
Probably one of those two Freys who came to Riverrun. Cat gotta kill someone, and I hope they don't skip ahead to her meeting Brienne.

I also believe Allister will replace Noye's role. He looked pretty damn heroic in one of the early trailers. It would make sense, and result in his arc with Jon (on the show) coming full circle. He'll be the one who tells Jon the Wall is his.

All I ever wanted was a CG bridge with a CG Balon crossing it for the bridge to snap and the little man to go flying into the ocean and the camera lingering on him until he's a speck in the distance. I only want that so someone can gif it and throw Team Rocket Blasting off again on the gif. Considering he's still getting screen time though I imagine they'll have a more elaborate way for him to die.

You know what I hold no ill will to Joffrey but I really want to see him die just to see how many different shades of color his face will go through in the show. After nice ass's abortion i imagine they won't hold back.

That would be pretty good for the show. One of my least favorites scenes in the first season was the scene where Jon and Sam were cleaning the dining hall. I just didn't care for the dialogue between them. But that scene turned around and got pretty good when Thorne showed up.

There seems to be an implication in the books that there was foulplay behind Balon's death and he may not have actually been blown off the bridge.

Also since Euron and Victarion don't seem to be in this season maybe they are saving the Greyjoy storyline for next season?

Isn't it generally accepted that Euron paid a Faceless Man (perhaps Jaqen) to kill him? The ghost of High Heart says something about seeing a man fall from a bridge watched by a man with no face with a drowned crow (Crow's Eye) on his shoulder.

Maybe they'll show that explicitly if it is the case.

Yeh, that seems to be what most people think. That's why I don't think they will show anything. Maybe Balon's body washes up on a beach on Pyke or something. Looking forward to seeing who they cast as Euron and Victarion.

Does Jaqen fit in the timeline? The Iron Islands are pretty far from the Citadel, plus it would be strange if every action commited by a faceless man up until now (outside of what we've seen in Bravoos from Arya's POV) was by the hand of the same man.

I guess it makes sense if they are pushing the Greyjoy and majority of the Martell storylines into Season 5. There's only so many threads a TV show can follow and make sense of. Doesn't help that the POV cast in every book grows, and reaches its peak in ADWD.

Another thing is that Euron arrives very shortly after Balon dies (the day after if I recall correctly?) so doing Balon's death in one season then Euron's arrival and the Kingsmoot etc. in the next would maybe feel like too long a gap.

Maybe. Travel times seem to be a bit inconsistent. Theon seems to get from Riverrun to Pyke pretty fast in ACOK, and Harrenhal isn't that much further. Jaime and Brienne get from Riverrun to almost reaching KL in the same period of time as occurs between Jaqen leaving Harrenhal and Balon dying IIRC, and they have a very troubled journey.

Getting from Pyke to Oldtown by ship should be reasonably fast. I think Stannis is travelling to the wall at about the same time, and it's a lot longer by ship plus a long journey by land.

I think it's certainly possible for him to make the two journeys by horse and ship, but it is a bit of a push. It could have been some other FM.

is there a list of what episodes everyone will die in yet? i'm figuring joffrey will die in ep2 for example based on the name, grrw writing it, and the fact i doubt they'll do something like that in the premiere.

I can see them doing Balon's death towards the end of the season, though, and so orchestrate the Greyjoys' plot in season 5, I'd say episode 8 or 9.
I wouldn't be surprised if the show delayed Euron's arrival at Pyke until the last episode of season 4, or the first of season 5.

Perhaps they don't even show Balon's death on screen, and you just hear the news from someone in KL or wherever mentioning it.

Oberyn vs The Mountain is
in episode 8
so that's when he dies. Lysa should be episode 10 and Tywin+Shae i'm expecting die in either episode 9 or 10. Probably 10 because episode 9 is
the battle at the wall
.

I'm putting spoiler tags on the events that we know for sure in which episode happens, the rest is speculation.

Episode 9 has also been confirmed to be a bottle episode like Blackwater, so you can rule that one out.

I am still hoping for Tywin+Shae to be at the tail end of episode 10. Ideally, I want Tyrion walking out of the bathroom and tossing the crossbow on the bed to be the last shot of the season.

There's some major dissing of Rickon going on in the No Books thread.

"There are still lots of Starks alive, <list of Starks minus Rickon>"

"You forgot Rickon"

"I didn't, he's just not a main character"

Damn. Just they wait until the KitN takes his crown in TWOW.

The last shot of the season should be Stoneheart
It is known

Hell yeah Rickon. He's going to storm across the North riding his unicorn with an army of cannibals at his back!
