Count me in with this statement right here. He doesn't betray Tyrion, he just doesn't fight for him in the trial because this time he knows he'll probably lose. Having Bronn betray Tyrion would be a major departure, too major for me.

Oh it may get more upsetting than that. If Cersei's bought out Bronn, that may mean that they're basically turning him into Kettleblack for season 5.

I think she instead will turn from him when she finally understands that Stannis was just a means to an end which was Jon. And Stannis will be all "Fuck her, I got Reek and a bunch of barbarians from the north who don't care for me and will turn on me the moment Davos miraculously returns with Rickon under his arm... sigh". Stannis is fucked and he knows it, he will die like a champ.
I don't know why people keep thinking this. What they've done to her character in the show only gives her more justification for betraying Tyrion, while also making Tyrion's killing of her more believable from his perspective. They've built it all up as her legitimately being jealous of his marriage to Sansa, and then what he says to her in their last scene together this most recent episode. It makes her willing betrayal of him make even more logical sense, because she feels betrayed by him, instead of just being a whore who takes gold wherever she can get it. They've set it up perfectly for the casual viewer to believe that she is gone on a boat. Then she'll come out during Tyrion's trial just like the book and people will be like "What the fuck!?" Then she'll start slandering him and people will really lose their shit. It's going to come across as far more malicious towards Tyrion. She is an actual character with motivations in the show, instead of just a girl who Tyrion is obsessed with who we only see from his point of view. It's gonna play out exactly like the book, I have no doubt.
The WiCnet people do one here. They also do a weekly live show. Last week's is here. I haven't listened to or watched either of these, so I can't vouch for them. Are there any great podcasts for book readers? I'm looking for something that would release weekly going over the show. Kind of what happens in this thread, but a podcast.

So errr... Balon Greyjoy is still alive in the show right? And maybe I'm overinterpreting the scene, it was a dwarf recreation of War of the Five Kings during Joffrey's wedding, but didn't they like, you know, outright said that Balon Greyjoy drowned? Which, afaik, still didn't happen?
GRRM wrote the episode and he could just as well not know Balon is still alive in the show. But then during the production stages wouldn't someone notice? I mean, I'd have no problem with the scene, it could just mean that Balon is as good as dead, but they mentioned Balon dying in the exact same way he actually dies in the scene. I don't know. Awkward.

Dude, you're reading too much into it. Stannis is also alive and his dwarf counterpart "died" during the battle, as well. Didn't all of the other dwarf kings "die" aside from Joff?
I think he means how Balon's dwarf specifically "dies" by falling down and screaming "I'm Drowning, I'm Drowning!" I noticed it too, its probably just foreshadowing.
And please, enough with Rains of Castamere, it's like nobody knows any other song than this one. It's a wedding, through A Bear and a Maiden Fair in there or something!
Well, how else would you kill the guy who worships the Drowned God in your silly dwarf show?

Rains of Castamere is one of the more memorable themes in the show, Season 3 as well as this entire season is mostly in the light of the Lannisters being at the peak of their power - this is their time in the spotlight, so it is only fitting for their song to be played left and right.
Theres probably a thousand different ways? All I'm saying is that its not far fetched to think that that was thrown in as hint of things to come.
Yup. Women can rule, it's just that (outside of Dorne) their younger brothers usually take precedent over them in the line of succession. They can, that's why they say Sansa is the key to the north, with her brothers dead she's the heir. Maege Mormont became head of her house and ruled bear island after Jorah left.d, Balon Greyjoy wanted Asha to succeed him, Cersei becomes lady of Casterly Rock etc.
Yup. He went all [Breaking Bad]Seriously. That was pretty much the most obvious thing in the world. Not sure how someone couldn't catch that..
What do you mean, "dropped this episode"?The "shit gold" line was dropped this episode, so we can be pretty sure that part of the story isn't being altered.
LADDAH!Because chaos is a ladder.
Again:Yeah probably as I said I may be reading too much into it, it just stuck out to me as it was pretty much exactly what happened to Balon in the books.
I know, I know, I just wish they'd use more of the songs. I find it kinda tiring that they stick to only Rains, Rains, Rains...
Charles Dance's version of Tywin makes it seem like the thought crossed his mind to do the same more than once.
I liked the part where I thought Joff was starting to die, but he only spit out his wine from laughing too hard.
Bronn says it to Jaime. They've set it up to be paid off later. What do you mean, "dropped this episode"?
PMed.Okay, I'm popping in from the show thread and posting without looking at anything, so could someone PM me an answer to this.
Is the plot behind Joffrey's death in the book discussed beforehand, and the details given (e.g. "so-and-so poisons Joffrey's cup during a commotion"), or is it presented as a mystery (e.g. "Joffrey suddenly collapses as confusion reigns")?

I noticed that, too. but I just took is a a jibe do the drowned god.
balon might not die in this season at all, if they want to show eurons landing.
of course they can also do it like in the books, they will deal with ironborn in moat cailing, maybe they will show his death at that time.
What was your favorite scene to shoot on the show?
Certainly the death scene is pretty cool. And [in next week's episode] we did the funeral scene where I was on a cliff with stones in my eyes and I just got to sleep all day, and [spoiler happened]. So that was fun.
I'm not sure when they plan on starting up the AFFC/ADWD Ironborn plot, but if I had to guess they will simply kill Balon off when they do and lead directly into the Kingsmoot. If I'm recalling it correctly, Balon dying in the book was just kinda this offhand thing mentioned, and didn't come up again as a major plot point until the start of AFFC right? I'd expect we won't start seeing stuff from AFFC come up until the 2nd half of the season?
Many who follow entertainment in Hollywood will have a tough time wrapping their head around you–
Gleeson: Deal with it.
well neither euron, victarion or aeron have have been cast, so the whole ironborn plot will be in season 5. thats why I think balons death might be in season 5, too. although in the books it was also mentioned in ASOS. but I think it will work better in the show when they show is death right before the whole train of events starts.
I don't know if show watchers will understand the magnitude of Tywin Lannister's death. He's the most important Lannister we've known so far. Joffrey died in the 2nd episode because, lets face it, he was a no one. Life doesn't really change for the Lannisters after Joffrey's death, but when Tywin dies, shit goes crazy. Heck, you end with Cersei's walk of shame!
I'd think he doesn't actually drown, but dies from the massive fall anyway so.
Why woulnt they understand?
he is the only "villain" left in westeros. at least one with real power.

Noticed that too. Thought it was time for it right then and there.
With my favorite insufferable assholes Viserys and Joff dead, who am I supposed to hate now?
