I still haven't gotten used to them skipping Arianne, but I guess it makes some sense to use Ellaria to fulfill her role knowing that in the books she just dissappears overnight. They must have decided that for quite some time because they cast a high profile actress like Varma for the role.

I'm thinking she is one of the candidates to die this season if they pull off the Queenmaker scheme. No Darkstar (pity :/), no twins or friends, just her and a Sand Snake, a daughter perhaps, she dies and then they can recreate the tower event with a Sand Snake instead that with Arianne next season. What do you think?

I always picture his axe to be something plain, battle tested, not this fancy.

Except beefier and in better shape is what I pictured. Instead we get a spear with a chopping edge.

I think we'll get more than 7 seasons and more than even 7.5. It's getting bigger and bigger every single year and is huge now - why kill it in two years?

And with the iron islands, we have plenty of material for 10 seasons. Hell, we can actually have Dani get comfortable in Westeros.

AND there's a tiny chance, very very tiny, that we'll see DoS before the show ends.

LOL

I guess it depends on if HBO is willing to continue on without Dan and Dave, and they probably are. Dan and Dave just seem ready to move on.

Where did you get this idea from?

Just my ass. I can see them wanting to go longer than 2 more years. It's their only really big show right now, and unless someone else launches to fill the void, I could see them dragging it out for a few more years without Dan and Dave. Especially with the their new subscription service.

I think they'll end the Game of Thrones series when D&D want to. They just wouldn't mind it running as long as it's making them money, but I don't think they are so greedy as to push it past the natural conclusion.

They may continue the overall franchise without D&D by doing a spin-off series or something, but Game of Thrones as a series will end with D&D.

I was originally going to say "Was it sore when you pulled that from your ass?", but figured a more neutral response would be better, just in case.

Without D&D's experience and knowledge of the whole logistical process, the show falls apart. HBO knows that.

Yeah, whatever your opinion on the quality of the end product, it's more or less a logistical miracle that the show is even made considering the sheer scale of story and production, and D&D deserve a lot of credit for pulling it all together.

I always pictured it as a double-sided axe like this:

And sharp enough to shave the hair from a woman's cunt.

No, they deserve nothing but scorn and hate for not adapting the books 100%.

Michael Lombardo said in that interview something along the lines of last thing he would do is refuse to let David and Dan end the show the way they want to when they want to.

Nothing is finalized and I'm sure a few others will have a voice in discussions, but it certainly doesn't sound like HBO would ever do the show without them.

There's an issue where the stuff they've cut is stuff they would have included had they been planning for 8-9 seasons. Hard to go back retroactively and fit it in.

They could though.

Didn't someone list something like 16 loose ends going into Winter, at least half must have something to do with the continuity of the show as well. Add the Iron Islands. And who knows what else GRRM has planned to turn the tables in Winter and Spring. Could make at least a few more seasons I bet.

I assume Steely is doing it again. That'll go up one week before the season starts, so we still have a while.

Looks like we already have our subtitle, though:;)
Yeah I'll be doing it again.

That would be an amazing subtitle, but not sure it'll fit with the need to mark the separate threads appropriately.

It's crazy that the prospect of the show going past 7 seasons is enough to send people into a tizzy - as though it would somehow result in a stretching of the material, inducing loads of "filler".
As if half the show up to this point hasn't been filler. lol

Exactly.

As much as they're going to cut, if it's going to go out with a bang and stay strong with little to no filler(and let's be real, that's what they've done so far), I'm okay with it ending at 7.

I would bang a hot farmer!

I find it more difficult to listen to an audiobook than to read. Does this make me weird?

No, I'm the same way. Especially since there are only so many voices one guy can do and I already have an idea of how those characters sound. Audiobooks have always been for lazy bastards with no imagination.

I have trouble with audio books too. I definitely end up zoning out for a minute here and there and end up getting really confused.

I managed listen to Dance with Dragons on a cross-country drive because when you're on hour four driving through bumfuck Oklahoma what could possibly distract you? Went back and read it properly eventually.

Well the illiterates will be all caught up on the story so I don't think they'll worry too much about avoiding the book whining thread. ;)
