Why do people keep with the "teleporting" trope?

I think by now it has been pretty well established that several days or even weeks may go from episode to episode or even scene to scene. Arya's training montage in the House of Black & White and Tyron's talking about how Casterly Rock was to be taken during this episode should be proof enough of this.

Two things happening during one single episode do not necessarily mean they are happening on a short time span from one another. This has been a recurrent thing since the very beginning of the show (S01E01: Jaime and Cersei are in King's Landing in their very first scene, 20 min later they arrive at Winterfell), but I don't remember people complaining about teleportation back then.

because it makes even less sense if there's a long time between the scenes. if the unsullied went to casterly rock at the same time as yara went to dorne, it makes no sense for euron to have time to attack yara, go party in king's landing, and then make it in time to casterly rock. but why it's even more nonsensical if there was a time jump is that dany/tyrion or whoever is in charge must have thought that attacking casterly rock was still a good idea after losing half their fleet and dorne, and they must have waited a ridiculously long time before sending them to take that useless castle.

I kinda understand the route they took with him but I'll miss never seeing how menacing book Euron would be in live action.

He wouldn't have been menacing, though. He would have been ridiculous.

Look at me I'm mysterious I have one eye and a crew of mutes and blue lips and a magic horn you have no idea all the creepy things i've seen

A lot of the complaints seem pretty petty.

On Highgarden, you had the Tyrell's betrayed by their most important/biggest Bannerman alongside the Lannisters. It's always been said they were poor fighters, but got by with numbers.

With The Rock, Tyrion went there to cut off the Lannister Army. Have them trapped in CR and turn it into a bay. He knew there were no resources, but using the sewers, he figured he could take them by surprise. This would allow the other two to surround Kings Landing without having to worry about reinforcements.

And while Tyrion is tricky, but he was never a general. He commanded once, he hasn't been at it for 20 years like Tarly or lived on the field like Jamie. Tyrion has always been someone who works better behind the desk.

None of this seems like a large leap.

Or you know....just take King's Landing and be done with the war... How many of Dany's solders died because they didn't want to siege the city for some reason.

Ah but she wants the people to looooooove her as the true benevolent queen of westeros....

Yeah gets old. Gets old as hell, subverting tropes by making every sympathetic character a fucking naive idiot gets old.

It is kinda ridiculous that at this point Lord of the Rings has more realistic battles than GOT.

I mean Tyrion just fucking up all over the place, and the whole sewer bit. Really, a guy like Tywin has no idea about the sewer system in his best fortress and no spy ever told him of his son bringing in courtesans secretly into the fort.

At least Aragorn and co. had an excuse for neglecting the sewer at helm's deep. No one had any idea Saruman was packing heat.

anyone else thought it was really odd the way tyrion asked jon if there is anything else he can do for him? it's like jon needed to be reminded of the dragonglass by someone who doesn't know it exists to make tyrion seem perceptive or something.

So after two seasons of buildup Jorah Mormont's grayscale arc is over in a week. Look, he's cured! Just. Like. That.

Showrunners not even trying anymore.

One more thing that I thought was odd - Isn't Braavos founded by ex-slaves? Why would the Iron Bank deal with slavery? Did they have investments in Slaver's Bay in the books?

Last week I joked that after Sam cures Jorah, the Maesters will recognize his great talent and praise him for doing what no other Maester could do, and give him a free chain. He didn't get the free chain but.... I guess it's almost there. :p

This show has been going on a long-ass time. Maise Williams looked like a tiny child, now she's a grown-ass woman. Jaime Lannister (forgot his name) went from looking like a young, dashing prince charming to a grizzled middle-aged man. Etc. I think they probably expected this thing to wrap up years ago.

? They expected a series with 5-6 books, at the time, to last 4-5 seasons? Are you saying they expected it would get canceled?

I hope the final 2 episodes are longer in length due to the extended hard core porn scene between Jon and Daenerys.

as much as I would love to see these 2 go at it, I don't want a porno scene because

1. it's always gratuitous and
2. Emilia Clarke is kinda over being full frontally nude in front of a camera, not even sex with Jon Snow should get her to show everything off again. An extended sex scene should happen, but it shouldn't be all the eye candy/porn shit that the show is known for.

Is that true? Loras was a great fighter and the Tyrells helped win the battle at Blackwater Bay. What episode said they were poor fighters?

The first thing the Old Rose said after asking how they fought,
"It was never our forte, Golden Roses indeed"

Tyrell's helped, but again. It was lead by Tywin alongside their entire force in overwhelming numbers. No different than Robert's Rebellion, where all the Tyrell's did was sit and siege Storm's End for a year. Tarly was the one who dealt Robert his only lose.

You think this would look silly?

I can't believe you're not joking lol that would look absolutely dreadful. The series is way more grounded than the books, because it's a fantasy world being played by real people on tight budgets. Having Euron have blue lips or characters with blue mustaches and golden beards would look like a joke.

Pretty sure they padded out seasons waiting on GRRM, and probably didn't anticipate so much success that the final season would be delayed then split into two. One of the writers joked about not being able to wait any longer, like it wouldn't make sense to have a 30 year old Arya wandering around.

She's not going nude anymore for anything short of a big time film lead, but you still can't really put that genie back in the bottle. Her first scene in season 1 was basically

Do you really think how Euron looks on the show right now is any more strange that's what's in the books? I would take blue lips book Euron over Gene Simmons here anyday.

For reference, Winds was expected in 2014ish. He said he would be back on a normal writing track.

You only have Martin to blame for this.

Btw I want to give props to Theons actor. Best out of the younger actors, by far. Jumping off the boat last episode was great. He can convey a lot through his face.

It'll end up being an even longer wait between Adwd and twow than it was between affc and adwd. I remember everyone in 2011 saying twow wasn't far off since he spent all that time doing a lot of work for twow in the process.

Lol

him and Jorah's actors both. It's almost mind boggling to think the dude getting his skin chopped off was just an act because he made it seem so, real!

No, I mean that rockstar outfit he wears in the Throne room. Looks more out of place than what I imagine book Euron looking like.

Also, why exactly is blue lips so crazy? We've already had them in the show!
I don't care what he wears. I care that's he's not Euron... At all

Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring are going to get shadow dropped on the same day and George is going to go on an Eff You tour that will last until he drops dead from a spite overdose

So, who here is with me thinking that they'll reboot the show and be faithful with the books after they all release? And who's down for it?

Most people understand that there can be large periods of time between scenes and they're not necessarily in chronological order. That doesn't mean the show gets a free pass to do whatever it wants. It still has to be believable, especially if it establishes a timetable for a series of events.
