Until Dawn | Aftermath Trailer

Something we’ve spoken about a lot with Until Dawn is the Butterfly Effect system and how that affects the story; where your moment to moment decisions can have immediate or long-term impact on the events of the night.

The way we have implemented this system in game means there are thousands of potential branches to every player’s individual story. Some of your decisions might appear to be inconsequential – a conversation choice that makes a character come across as a bit of an ass, for example – but if you’d made a different choice that character might have ended up the hero. Everything you choose can affect how other characters react, potentially with dire consequences. Some choices are more obvious but much more difficult, like choosing which friend will live and which will die.

The thing is, you won’t always know what impact your choices will have until after you’ve made them – it was important to us that players shouldn’t second guess their path through the story of Until Dawn. It’s only after you’ve made a decision that you’ll find out the consequences of that choice, sometimes only hours later.

Our latest trailer shows the potential aftermath of your decisions. Only your choices determine who survives Until Dawn…

Until Dawn comes out on 26th August in Europe and 28th August in the UK.

Cool trailer, looking forward to a neat "Choose Your Own Adventure", like the books I read growing up (especially those Goosebumps ones).

Do you guys remember a game show I think from Nickelodeon, like 20 years ago, where the contestant would have to basically do this? Like you were running from the cops...do you take the highway or hide in a parking garage, do you stowaway on a yacht or try escaping on a jet ski, etc. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

If what they say about the branching story is true, then count me in. I just don't want another telltale game where my choices really don't matter.

Great trailer, really looking forward to this, it's looking like it should be good fun. I think it could actually turn out better than a lot of people expect.

Hopefully Supermassive have learned from past games in this genre, like Heavy Rain and give us a really great interactive horror movie experience.

This game is going to be great... Unfortunately, for me it is a Christmas title.

MGS V and Fallout are must buys, Until Dawn, SOMA, and the Uncharted collection are Christmas gift titles.

This seems to be more like a Heavy Rain type of thing, where the story adapts to what you do, and what character dies. Not really Telltale-ish from what I've seen.

I remember some shows on Danish television that did the same. They were fun to watch.

Really looking forward to this. Just something different/fun to play.

Must remember to change my pre-order from Amazon to simplygames as it's only £36.85

I'm interested in this game but I don't trust Supermassive b/c they're Supermassive. I know this won't score well and that's fine, but now I need to figure out how I can tell if the game is good or not. Needs demo.

Maybe you were drunk and flipping the channels between COPS and Nickelodeon?

Does Supermassive have a bad rep? They have never done a game with a budget like this before So I don't know what to expect.

Looking forward to this game, the fact the have Rami Malek playing one of the main characters (main guy on Mr. Robot) makes me interested.

I really like the cheesy choose your own adventure aspect of this game. Going by what I've read it seems like it could be too gory for me though.

Everything they've put their name to has been fairly crap as far as I know, but as you say, they've never really tackled a project on this ambitious scale before, and lord knows they've been given enough time to create something that's worth a damn. Who knows, maybe they'll surprise us.

Sweet trailer, glad there was no spoilers in it.

Hah, I just started watchin that show, and I was thinking "where have i seen this guy before"? Then I remember Until Dawn.

Looks like most if not all of Supermassive's games are average/above average and on a small budget. That Dr. Who game did bad but on PC it was well received. I have faith obviously ha

Tumble's a fully-3D (PS Eye-Move depth tracked and stereoscopic) skill/puzzle, precise block-tower building/destroying and occasional laser-mirror reflection game. If it just had the option to rotate the camera with a NavCon stick instead of having a modifier button switching the function of the Move controller it would've been a strong 9 instead of 8/10 for me. The 'forward' position of Move needed recalibrating regularly with a dedicated as-you-play button but unlike the camera control it barely slowed things down.

When building towers you had an assortment of block shape/size/mass/friction or stickiness and you'd usually have to build up to a target height within a time limit, with bronze/silver/gold targets. As levels got more difficult more obstacles were put in the way, like moving bars, so you'd have to build outwards, not just up to avoid your tower getting toppled.

Start the Party's a polished but shallow party game that could've had twice the content and still would've felt a bit slim on content. Move tracking was spot-on unless you shook the controller hard for several seconds. All the mini-games were on a 2D plane so depth tracking just made the 'tool' bigger or smaller on-screen.

Awesome trailer. Definitely Day 1. I've been excited for this game for awhile. I took a peek at some videos on YouTube that seem to be show the first thirty or so minutes of the game. Not sure if it's a demo or not. In any case, the game seems to be a lot of fun. Going to try my hardest to at least keep Josh, Chris, and Sam alive.

Off-topic but anytime I think of this game I also think of Summer Camp. I believe it's being developed by Gun Media, working with Tom Savini, Kane Hodder, and Harry Manfredini. Anyone have any news on what's going on?

Edit: Nevermind, checked Wes Keltner's Twitter. Seems to still be coming around. I was hoping their game wasn't cancelled, I really want to play that too.

I've been sitting here trying to think of what this could be, as Nickelodeon is almost all I watched throughout most of the 90's, but nothing is coming to mind.

Same here, the only thing video game related on Nickelodeon I remember is Nick Arcade, but that doesn't sound like what he's describing.

Really hope the game is short enough that the decisions you make have legitimate repercussions and you don't have to play through hours of the same thing to get the 5 minutes that are kind of different for an ending.

When you screw up in this game it isn't because the character is stupid, but you. I look forward to being a big old idiot with this game.

I doubt you're being an idiot. The playthroughs I've seen some of the decisions and their consequences aren't foreseeable.

From the videos I've watched, your choices can even lead to infidelity, which can effect later conversations as well.

Other decisions might also allow you to protect a character from death in case you screwed up
choosing to give someone the flare gun.
*demo spoilers*

Can't wait for this! It's going to be exciting to make choices that are based on this horror premise! I hope everyone gets killed in amazing ways based on the horrible decisions I make! Hooray!
