Until Dawn has gone gold.

Been on media blackout on this. Want to have a fresh experience. I was under the impression that it was more of a thriller/suspense than horror. I don't normally play horror games but I'll still pick it up.

Gameplay. There is no gameplay here. You have just to push some button when the prompt appears on the screen.
This not what I intend for a game.

except that like in Heavy Rain, Beyond and many of these other "non-games" you can walk around, explore the environment, make decisions and so on, you know like in "real" games. QTE is used for action scenes.

You sound like 99% of the people who call these games "interactive movies" or "non-games" who you can just tell have never played any of these games because they assume that QTE is all there is to it.

I can do without ugly polygonal boobies, it's just a genre trope, is all.
Tessellation tech exists now though, the future is round!

And it's a trope but I'd rather see tits than magical towels that hide everything. Especially when at the same time they're being so coy with innocent nudity your player characters get graphically ripped to pieces. This game isn't high art, if you're going for a trashy b movie vibe you might as well go all the way.

This will probably bomb. Both on reviews and sales.

Previews have been pretty positive so far and games like Heavy Rain sold really well in the past, also there are 25+ million PS4's out there now so if the game is even half decent, it's likely going to sell pretty well.

Reviews could be hit and miss depending on a reviewers taste for these type of games and b-movie horror but if the previews are anything to go by, then this game should do ok.

I don't know how could be considered a real game than a simple interactive movie. From what I see it's basically a QTE fest. Tastes are tastes, but if people hated The Order so much because it's too much cinematic, gameplay wise, this game could getting even worse.

Lol. What a crock of shit. You may not like the game, but it is indeed a game and it has gameplay.
Where exactly I'm trolling? I just express an opinion. :/
Your so called "opinion" really isn't an opinion. It is a matter of fact that it has gameplay and is in fact a video game. You're welcome to not like it, but othewise, GTFO.

People hated the Order cause it was actually a fairly mediocre game. Yet people love Heavy Rain. One bad game does not another make.

What makes you say that? Previews were positive.

I don't have a solid proof since I never played the game but from what I've seen from the gameplay it seems pretty mediocre but I could be wrong ofc. The order despite the huge base failed commercially so huge base ≠ guaranteed commercial success.

God, I love this GIF so much, with Angie Smets, Hermen Hulst and Shu Yoshida!

Have you played any David Cage or Telltale games? They are modern day adventure games. This is that in teen horror genre. I don't know what you are expecting from gameplay of this game.

Of course there is no guarantee, it could be a pile of crap but I'm hopeful they can pull this off. I don't think anyone is under the illusion this is going to be the best PS4 exclusive but if done right it could still be a decent one.

Gameplay will be the standard QTE stuff, like all these Interactive Movie games, clearly not to everyone's tastes but there are people who like these types of games and Heavy Rain made a lot of money, so this type of game can sell well if they can find the right audience and horror can be a very popular genre.

It's not all QTE stuff, as we saw a year nine months ago with the first dollhouse footage, then the beginning of the towel sequence and best of all recently in the PS Access walkthroughs with the radio tower.

I don't know about a lot of money but Heavy Rain was profitable. Enough that two games later SCEE's still working with QD.

Maybe I didn't choose the right word when I said gameplay because I played Telltale games and they're good and I didn't have a problem with the QTE. What I meant is from what I've seen so far nothing in this game gives you the impression of a game that is going to get +80, but as I said ofc I could be wrong and I would love to be.

You must have some worldwide numbers for The Order, can you share them please?

Sony never announced a number for the game even tho they announced one for BB which came one month after it. Plus the CE were being sold for 20$ what do you get from this?

So here's a list of the non-games according to some people here:

- If you don't shoot a gun, jump on enemies, or platform obstacles, it's not a real game.

Fuck this shallow narrow mindedness some "gamers" are displaying recently.

Do they have to tell you every time a game reaches 1 million? By that logic you probably thought Driveclub didn't reach 1 million before yesterday.

Then what about the CE being sold for 20$? what about all the next installment plans canceled? Do you actually think Sony would've canceled the next installment despite TO 1886 being a commercial success ?!

I never called The Order a commercial success.

Yesss, i can't decide if playing it on halloween or on release, oh the horror!

I don't think it's going to review well, but i hope it does!

I don't really care about reviews tho, not in movies or games or anything really, i have my opinion about them and i like to discuss it, but the notion that reviews are some kind of metric for how good the game is i found ridiculous, reviews are or should be taken more as entertainment and opinion than a metric.

But what can i do, most people will see a number and decide if buying it's wotrh it, regardless.

Best guess is they can't really show off too much because of spoilers, with this being a story heavy, movie like experience. We won't have long to find out now though, with it coming out in a few weeks.

The Order 1886 is such a disappointment. They should have made the Victorian era Gears of War that it looked liked at reveal. It would have sold millions.

These type of comments are ignorant as hell. Gaming is a interactive medium. Every input you have chooses the pathway. In a movie you can just click play and it will keep going. For games you need to add your own sequence of combination all buttons. Fine you make not like the degree of freedom a game like this can give you but that's the type of genre this is. Not everyone loves RPG's or FPS but they don't call them not real games beacuse they can't get into them.

Indeed. Its a fancy qte game

A QTE game is VIP on PS1, Until Dawn is the modern version of Grim Fandango & King's Quest. Have you ever played a Telltale or Quantic Dream game? I have a feeling a lot of the people that call these "QTE games" have never played them.

Calling those games "QTE games" is as laughable as calling Bayonetta & God Of War "QTE games".

I do feel like these Interactive Movie games are like the modern day evolution of point n click adventure games and make a nice change of pace from constantly shooting everything, which a lot of modern games seem to boil down to these days.

I guess the "QTE game" label sticks because they normally feature more QTE's than most games but I don't think it's really a bad thing as it suits these games perfectly anyway.
